3 Doors Down at 013, Tilburg on 17 Jun 2013

Location: 013

3 Doors Down komt naar 013! Het vijftal dat enorme hits als ‘Kryptonite’ en ‘Here Without You’ op zijn naam heeft staan keert terug naar 013 voor een exclusieve Nederlandse show. 3 Doors Down begon in 1996 in Mississippi. De daaropvolgende albums brachten singles voort als ‘Believer’ en ‘Here Without You’.

3 Doors Down
It was during a trip to Foley, Alabama that they came up with their official name. When the three men were walking through the town, they saw a building where some letters had fallen off its sign, and it read "Doors Down." Since at the time they consisted of three people, they added the "3" to create "3 Doors Down." The cover of their 2011 album "Time Of My Life" hints at the original number of band members (3) and current band members(5); the clock on the album cover reads 3:05.

A couple of years after performing together, Todd Harrell asked guitarist Chris Henderson to join the band. They recorded a demo CD of their original songs at Lincoln Recording in Pascagoula, Mississippi. When the band gave the CD to local radio station WCPR-FM they started playing the EP version of "Kryptonite", and it became the No. 1 requested song on the station for over 15 weeks.[2] The station's program director sent the song to manager Phin Daly who in turn showed it to Bill McGathy, his employer at In De Goot Entertainment. They decided to fly the band in to New York to perform a showcase at the CBGB music club. Daly told HitQuarters: "Once they got on stage and started playing it was apparent the magic was in the music. So we moved to sign them."[2] 3 Doors Down's success on the radio also led to Republic Records signing the band.

3 Doors Down's first studio album, The Better Life was released on February 8, 2000, and went on to become the 11th best-selling album of the year, selling over 3 million copies. It has since been certified 6x platinum, thanks in large part to the international hit singles, "Kryptonite", "Loser", and "Duck and Run". A fourth single, "Be Like That" was re-recorded for the 2001 film American Pie 2, with alternate lyrics for the first 3 lines. This version is known as "The American Pie 2 Edit". Whilst recording the album, Brad Arnold recorded both the vocal and drum parts. However, the band hired drummer Richard Liles for the tour in support of The Better Life so that Arnold could perform at the front of the stage. Liles left in late 2001.

Daughtry
Season five fourth-place finisher Chris Daughtry stated that he would form a new band after turning down Fuel's offer to make him their lead singer. On July 10, 2006 it was announced that Chris Daughtry had signed with 19 Entertainment and RCA Records, which holds contracts with fellow American Idol finalists Kelly Clarkson and Kellie Pickler, among others. Chris Daughtry is a singer-songwriter himself and has collaborated with several other songwriters, such as Live's Ed Kowalczyk, Fuel's Carl Bell, 3 Doors Down's Brad Arnold, Matchbox Twenty's Rob Thomas, SR-71's Mitch Allan,[9] Shinedown's Brent Smith, Three Days Grace's Adam Gontier, former The Click Five singer Eric Dill,Theory of a Deadman's Tyler Connolly, Lifehouse's Jason Wade and Nickelback's Chad Kroeger.

Chris Daughtry and members of his label held auditions for the band Daughtry and chose 4 members for the band: Jeremy Brady, 21, guitarist (no longer in the band); Josh Steely, 36, lead guitarist; Josh Paul, 29, bassist who also played for Suicidal Tendencies; Joey Barnes, 30, drummer, who was the lead singer of Suicide Darlings. Two of the band members hail from North Carolina — Barnes, whom Chris Daughtry had known for some time, and Brady, who was introduced to him a month before the audition. Steely and Paul are both from California. The decision was made to name the band "Daughtry" in order to keep name recognition. In an interview, Chris Daughtry said, "We could have come out with a really obscure name, but coming from a TV show and having name recognition, it was easier just to go with my last name."

The band's self-titled debut album was produced by Howard Benson and was released by 19 Entertainment and RCA Records on November 21, 2006. Chris Daughtry himself played a part in the production of the album, particularly in songwriting where he wrote and co-wrote all but two songs on the album — "Feels Like Tonight" and "What About Now". Additionally, he solely wrote "Home," "Breakdown" and "Gone".[9] Other notable songwriters Dr. Luke and Max Martin contributed to the album, and session drummer Josh Freese played on all tracks. However, at the time the album was recorded, Chris Daughtry was the only official member of the band, leading some to mistakenly believe that the band Daughtry is his solo career.

Halestorm
Siblings Arejay and Elizabeth "Lzzy" Hale have been actively writing and performing original music since 1997 when they were 10 and 13 years old, respectively. Both brother and sister started learning piano at the age of 5; Lzzy later progressed to a keytar and Arejay to the drums. Lzzy took guitar lessons at 16. The teen siblings released an EP titled Don't Mess With the Time Man in 1999. In Halestorm's earliest incarnation, Lzzy and Arejay's father Roger Hale played bass before Josh Smith joined the group in 2004. Guitarist Joe Hottinger joined in 2003.

The group signed a recording contract with Atlantic Records on June 28, 2005 and released a live EP titled One and Done. The EP, now out of print, featured an early live version of "It's Not You." Their self-titled debut album was released on April 28, 2009. The song "I Get Off" served as the album's lead single and has gained heavy radio play. Both the song and video for their second single, "It's Not You", were released in late November 2009. Singles and videos for "Love/Hate Heartbreak" and "Familiar Taste of Poison" were released in 2010.

The cover of their 2011 album "Time Of My Life" hints at the original number of band members (3) and current band members(5); the clock on the album cover reads 3:05.

3 Doors Down + Daughtry Unveil Dates for Summer 2013 Tour
3 Doors Down and Daughtry are having such a good time on their co-headlining tour run that they’ve extended it for a third leg. The newly revealed dates have a stop at Jones Beach on July 17.
The two rock acts have spent the past few months touring together throughout the U.S. and on a World Tour that took them on a musical journey through Mexico, Dubai, Europe and Russia. The new shows will keep them stateside for the summer.
3 Doors Down and Daughtry seem to be having a blast together on the road. “We are looking forward to great summer touring with our friends in Daughtry,’ said 3 Doors Down main main Brad Arnold. “ Everyone had so much fun on the last two legs that we had to add a third and hit some new cities and some outdoor sunshine along the way. See you on the road!”

Halestorm, who recently picked up the Grammy in the ‘Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance’ category, will join 3 Doors Down and Daughtry out on the road on many of the stops, making for quite the rock trifecta.

Two legendary bands stop at the Covelli Centre for one massive show!
