BENJAMIN FRANCIS LEFTWICH

The first thing you notice is the voice. Haunting and sublimely otherworldly, it stops you in your tracks proving that sometimes the intoxicating simplicity of a single voice is all you need to make an impact. With Benjamin Francis Leftwich, that hypnotic, breathy voice is the reason for it all. Not just your average singer-songwriter then.

Growing up on a diet of Rolling Stones and Nina Simone, Benjamin discovered Bob Dylan and Elliot Smith in his teens, starting work as a solo artist at 18 and beginning to write what now makes up his debut album Last Smoke Before The Snowstorm.

The breathtaking results were well worth waiting for. Inspired by the likes of Ryan Adams, Bruce Springsteen, Arcade Fire and Sigur Ros, Benjamin took his time creating a sound that is truly his, that reveals a little more of himself with every single breath and moment.

Released to much critical acclaim, the album was an instant Top 20 hit in the UK Album Chart, and enjoyed heavy radio support from the likes of Radio 1, 6Music and Xfm. A huge number of festival appearances followed including Glastonbury, Reading & Leeds, Green Man, Bestival, and many more, plus a massive 28 date sold out UK tour. This May, Ben and his band embark on a short run of headline shows including Birmingham’s The Institute and his biggest headline show to date at The Forum in London.

LEWIS WATSON

Following his previous sold out headline shows at The Rainbow & The Institute, we’re very pleased to welcome Lewis Watson as main support to Benjamin Francis Leftwich.

Already backed by an online following of over 55,000 subscribers and 5.5 million views at YouTube, Oxford’s twenty-year-old musician Lewis Watson is an integral part of a growing movement of talented young singer-songwriters such as Ben Howard and Jake Bugg.

After his debut EP It’s Got Four Sad Songs On It BTW topped the iTunes singer-songwriter chart on the first day of release, outselling the likes of Adele, Madonna and Ed Sheeran, Lewis’s second Another Four Sad Songs EP continued his rise to prominence as publications including The Independent, The Sun, the Daily Mail and the Daily Star all listed him as one of their top tips for 2013. His growing stardom has also seen him play gigs and achieve impressive chart positions in the States and Australia.

In March, Lewis Watson released his third EP The Wild on Warner Bros. Records. Its lead track ‘Into The Wild’ shows how his sound has matured from stripped-down singer-songwriter material to a full band production which neatly contrasts delicate verses with an expansive hook. The track received extensive radio support from Zane Lowe at Radio 1 and XFM, where he has also performed a session for John Kennedy.

Dot to Dot - Nottingham on 26 May 2013

Location: Various Nottingham Venues

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Dot To Dot returns for 2013 ready to take over Manchester, Bristol and Nottingham yet again.

• “One of the UK’s fastest rising festivals” - NME

• “An eclectic mix of innovative, ground-breaking acts manage to secure the festival’s spirit and provide the musical kudos”. - Virtual Festivals

• “With a stunning bill and venues within yards of one another we’ll leave you to join the dots.” - Clash

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

The festival, which spans three cities over one weekend, has long been the barometer for acts that are about to break and 2012’s event was no exception. The line-up for last summer’s event speaks for itself with Jake Bugg, Bastille, Peace and Dog is Dead (to name but a few) all subsequently achieving huge success.

Previous line-ups have also included The xx, Florence & The Machine, The Naked and Famous, Friendly Fires, Laura Marling, Mumford & Sons, Mystery Jets, Beach House, The Cribs, Wild Beasts, The Joy Formiddable, SBTRKT, Benjamin Francis Leftwich and many, many more.

We pride ourselves on bringing thousands of music fans an eclectic mix of innovative, exciting and ground-breaking acts in intimate settings we feel compliment the artists.

Who needs Glastonbury when Yorkshire's got Galtres?

Now nine years old, Galtres Parklands Festival is one of the best family festivals in the country.
