Dirty Three at Astor Theatre, Mt Lawley on 9 Mar 2012

Location: Astor Theatre

Dirty Three’s last tour of Australia was in 2009 when they performed their album Ocean Songs in its entirety as part of the Don’t Look Back classic albums series, a run of shows that sold-out across the country. This was a tour that confirmed Dirty Three's status of one of the greatest live acts in the world.

"Dirty Three assailed and attacked the hot and humid Enmore Theatre on Australia Day with full and absolute effect. Playing in total their classic album 'Ocean Songs' we witnessed a band that is ageless and timeless. One of, if not the, greatest band that this country has ever produced." – Oceans Never Listen

“There was not a single person in The Forum that would deny the sheer power of the Dirty Three’s songs live." - The Dwarf

“It's safe to say that everyone should see the Dirty Three." - The Vine

The planets will once again align in 2012 as Dirty Three tour Australia and release their first new album since 2005's Cinder.

Dirty Three at Sydney Opera House, Sydney on 21 Mar 2012

Location: Sydney Opera House

The most purely-expressed live act on the planet, Dirty Three, makes their Sydney Opera House debut this March.

"They're utterly unique and absolutely world class." Nick Cave

"When you're falling in love or falling out of love, their music is particularly appropriate. You can enjoy them at the best and worst of times." actor, Noah Taylor

"Every time I see the Dirty Three, they make me cry." Chan Marshall, Cat Power

"Like a cross between Pagannini and Jimmy Page." - Bobby Gillespie, Primal Scream

Dirty Three is Warren Ellis (Violin), Mick Turner (Guitar), and Jim White (Drums). Formed in Melbourne in 1991, this violin-led trio has earned an international fan base through years of relentless touring and spellbinding live performances.

Playing live together they are an intuitive force. Via manic verbose song introductions, Ellis summons sounds and spells from his violin, White’s dexterity is awe-inspiring, and Turner is stoic and unflappable. Together they channel their poetically profound and emotionally honest songs, rather than simply perform them.

With a new album scheduled for early 2012, this tour features new material as well as songs from many of their most loved and influential works including Ocean Songs, Cinder, Horse Stories and more.

If you’re a fan, we’ll see you there, if you’ve yet to experience this band live, expect to fall deeply in love on March 21. Don’t miss Dirty Three live at Sydney Opera House.

End of the Road Festival on 31 Aug 2012

Location: Larmer Tree Gardens

Like a lot of festival goers we had always joked around saying "wouldn't it be nice to put on our own 'perfect' festival with our favourite line up". It was only after having been to a small and intimate festival in 2005 that Simon thought to himself that we can actually make this happen and put on our own quality festival. Simon teamed up with his friend Sofia, and the kind of festival they set out to create was one where:

You won't get all the over hyped bands headlining
Most bands play longer sets than usual
You can eat a range of quality food
You can drink a range of quality beers
The staff and security care about everyone and show respect
The crowd will be there for the MUSIC
We take pride in being an independent festival.
The idea with the End of the Road Festival was to organise an intimate festival with our favourite artists and to create a festival with a friendly and relaxed feel.

The Larmer Tree Gardens (North Dorset/Wiltshire borders, UK) is the perfect venue to create this kind of atmosphere - where music-loving, open minded and chilled out people get together in the beautiful countryside whilst parrots and peacocks wander around!

This is the kind of festival where the ENTIRE line-up is the headliner in itself!

End of the Road festival takes a lot of pride in all the 'little things' that make a great festival, such as good food (organic and local where possible), good beer, caring and well-mannered staff, good site decorations, hygiene etc.

We encourage band participation in all areas of the festival, and some acts will be invited to dj, present workshops and many other things besides. The festival has the kind of atmosphere which encourages collaboration and 'special' events - in previous years we've seen acts such as I'm from Barcelona, Ed Harcourt, Josh Ritter, Herman Dune, Frida Hyvonen and Darrren Hayman all playing surprise sets in and around the festival site, as well as a few unexpected collaborations (thank you Ryan Adams who picked up the drum sticks for Jolie Holland's set, and the Brakes/Seapower/Soft Parade boys).

As one of the festival organisers is Swedish, there will also be a slight Scandinavian touch to the festival with the old Viking game Kubb that all festival goers are welcome to try out, as well as a Scandinavian showcase of up and coming Nordic talent.
