Impromeeting is a meeting place for the improvisation of sound artists from different artistic disciplines as a form of collaboration, experimentation and fun. Impromeeting accommodates musicians and non-musicians, narrators, poets, electronics, sound art, djing, turntablism or any other form of creating sound and noise from the point of view of experimental music. Organised by Mauri (producer, artist and dj). First edition was in 2010 and the second edition was on 10th of july 2011 in Gijón (Spain) with 4 artists from different musical styles (were first improvising in pairs, and ended up playing all together). The artists for Impromeetin’2011 were: Non Ergo (with a computer, synthesizer, and voice). vRED (electronic violoncelo, guitar, contrabass and some footswitch). Violeta Nureyev (bass and voice). Las Casi Casiotone (with 2 MacBook Pro, Midi controller, delay footswitch and microphone).

Mirrors Of Mind - Dellamorte Dellamore EP (2012)

Synthematik presents “Dellamorte Dellamore” EP from Mirrors of Mind, an up and coming Russian-Lithuanian synth goth / gothic electro act!
Mirrors of Mind came into being in 2010 as a trio. In the beginning of 2011 their demo album “Po Tonkoy Grani [On The Thin Edge]” saw the light of day. It gathered lots of positive feedback from fans of gothic electronic music. Now the trio is back with brand new material which is sure to attract attention of fans of such bands as Blutengel, Kirlian Camera, L’ame Immortelle and Black Heaven.
Taking its name from the incredible masterpiece of the Italian cinema, “Dellamorte Dellamore” explores similar themes of tragic and ironic perception of the outward things, ephemerality of life, protest and its futility. Music-wise, the EP offers a fine blend of modern synth goth with elements of gothic electro and a romantic female voice.
“Dellamorte Dellamore” features three brand new original tracks alongside with a cover of ‘Exit The Grey’ by Diorama with the lyrics ably translated into Russian. In addition, it contains two remixes of the title track by the Russian futurepop project Mental Discipline and the Belarusian gothic band Kaltherzig.
The paid version of the release contains a special version of the track ‘Pod Pokryvalom Vek [Under The Veil Of Eyelids]’.

Escape Club Exposes Naked Truth in Celebrity, New CD

Indie label Whipped Cream Records based in Monterey, California announces the release of Escape Club's new CD titled 'Celebrity' featuring 11 new songs through Redeye Distribution of Haw River, North Carolina. Escape Club has five previous Top 100 songs on Billboard, including #1 "Wild Wild West."

Escape Club, founded by lead singer Trevor Steel and guitarist John Holliday in the U.K., are known as a Rock band that has sampled Deep Purple in the past. Against that stereotype, Trevor and John wrote a beautiful ballad for a grieving widow, titled "I'll Be There." The song soared to #8 on Billboard and has been updated for the new album as track 11, "I'll Be There (The Sequel)." The rest of the album rocks with tracks such as "Say Hello," "Celebrity," and "God's Own Radio" featuring great guitar and cool lyrics for the second decade of the new millennium.

Escape Club is expected to support the release with a U.S. tour in the summer. The band looks forward to performing again, as "Playing live was always one of our strengths," Trevor says, "All those years ago it's what got us started in the London clubs and it's something we've missed very much."

The new album 'Celebrity' was sent to Adult Alternative rock stations in the U.S., and the single, "God's Own Radio" was arranged to be delivered via the 'A Taste Of Triple A' radio sampler. The sampler is sent to 260 key radio programmers and features the Escape Club single as Track 1, Disc 1, as well as on the CD cover.

Promotion for the new 'Celebrity' album also includes online media with viral videos produced by the band introducing new songs, concert performances, and behind the scenes moments. 10th Nashville SongWriters Fest on Music Row: Come Play!

The 10th Annual Nashville SongWriters Festival is several music happenings in one! Find your place in the mix. It’s part live original music festival, part music conference, part networking opportunity and part gathering of old friends held June 1-3, 2012. The live performances, education and Open House are concurrently running events. Attendees can take in all or parts and “Play it by ear!”

It’s 3 Days of Live Original Music from all genres on multiple stages, classes, Open House held at the top of Music Row in Nashville, TN representing the past, present and future of songwriting.

Songwriters of all genres share their music on multiple stages and open sing rings. The fest is open to all forms of songwriting, from the novice to the professional. There are no pre qualifications to play or attend. Everyone is encouraged to come as they are. All attendees will have the opportunity to share their words or music and find their place in the mix.

While at the fest, writers can also get the information they want, about the business topics they want, when they want. Attend the Speciality Music Rooms on over 18 Industry Topics, Critiques, Recording, Publishing, Plugging, Legal, Records, Duplication, Distribution, Radio, Video, Broadcasting, Shop, Management, Promotions, Productions and more. Q & A sessions and gather other personal tid bits, all about the craft and business of music.

An Open House is held by participating recording studios, publishers, song pluggers and other music related businesses where writers can drop by without an appointment to ask questions, exchange samples or discuss what part they play in the business of Music. Register your music-related business for the Open House or if you’re a festival attendee, stop by and check out some of the industry.

For registered and non performing writers there will be a “Writer’s Area” provided by the Fest near the Info Booth. At the display table attendees can deposit their CDs and the fest staff will take inquiries or make sales for participants. The Two Sides Of Jefferson Thomas

After spending most of 2008 and 2009 slogging it out in his van supporting his "Western Front" release, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jefferson Thomas was burned out, and found himself taking a self-described “working vacation” by lending his talents to other artists. “I guess my name got around a little. Dave Diedrich, Matthew Foster-Moore, and a few others heard the work I’d done on my own releases and hired me, and suddenly I was a ‘producer’. I wasn’t exactly comfortable with that title at first, but after spending a year and a half playing anywhere and everywhere, toting your own rock day after day, you get sick of the sound of your own name. This was a great diversion, and totally rejuvenating. It got me excited about making music again, and it’s actually more challenging not being the boss.”

Throughout 2010 and into 2011, while hard at work helping others shape their visions, Thomas kept writing. With the pressure on someone else to unleash their own masterpieces, he could relax on his own material, creating for creation’s sake, without a deadline. One day, he was surprised to find that he’d gradually cranked out over twenty new tunes that were keepers. It was Diedrich who, upon hearing that, first suggested a double-release. No one was more dubious of such a heady idea than Thomas himself.

“I said ‘I can’t do that!’ You figure only huge household names can get away with something as presumptuous and arrogant as a double-record. Then I thought, well, that’s because those folks are usually the only ones who can afford to do it, but I have more than enough music, and I can afford to do it. And hell, I am presumptuous and arrogant! (laughs). So then it became a question of how to go about it, and how to position it. What approach makes the most sense? What’s the angle?”

The “angle” turned out to be a pragmatic solution to the one nagging problem; all the songs didn’t fit together, but they did seem to fall easily into two distinct camps. “I had some rootsy and twangy stuff which was a lot of fun, and then I had a bunch of darker stuff that rocked harder. They weren’t radically different, like Gregorian chant vs. Goth-polka or whatever, but there were definitely two clearly-defined houses, and each song’s impact was ultimately better served by having it live in the right one.”

As a joke, and in deference to his favorite habit of browsing through his father’s classic vinyl collection, he began using “Side One” and “Side Two” as working titles for the two groups of material. “I fully intended to come up with actual titles for each one, but as the work progressed, two distinct lyrical moods also emerged . It was like side one and side two of me. I decided we should make them look exactly the same, like a collector’s set, but in different colors; red and black, like a roulette table. Someone at one point suggested I call them ‘The Red Album’ and ‘The Black Album,’ which sounded incredibly pompous to me. Yeah, right. When you outsell the Beatles and Metallica someday, you can do that.”

"Side One" is loose, boozy roots-rock and alt.country. Its songs feature characters straight out of a Bukowski barroom. "Side Two" is the more ambitious of the two, musically and production-wise, with moody string arrangements here and there and a few cinematic cross-fades. The characters in these songs are caught in the very real recent American landscape of crippling economic woes and the bleak aftermath, and they don’t really ever make it out. Some kill, some die, some run drugs and guns, and the ones left standing avoid the mirror in the morning. Thomas laughs when he sums it up. “I guess the first one is about my demons. The second one is about your demons.”

The two records will be released as separate entities about three months apart; Side One debuted in early January, and Side Two hits the street in April. A combined twin-disc version bundled with exclusive content (videos, bonus tracks, etc) will be available late in the year. Thomas will tour extensively off them, with dates in the U.S. through the late spring and summer and overseas legs in the fall and winter. “Well, it’s a double-dose of new music to push, so it’s not like we’ll be taking the winter off to go hibernate in the studio and come out with something new, like we usually do. Damn, what have I done?!”

This is not the first time that Robert Lauri and Mitch Hiller have joined forces. They have known each other for a long time and decided to pool their talents and creativity once again to bring us Oh No. This is the first track of a series of new songs together on the album which will be out in summer.

On this album, Robert Lauri is the composer, arranger and performer, and Mitch Hiller the lyricist. Their pooled talents have yielded pure magic. Very present, almost spellbinding, Robert Lauri’s voice is like a key that opens the door to an authentic and original world created by Mitch Hiller’s lyrics. Furthermore, Robert Lauri’s look in the video by Anna Clara Passarelli bolsters the overall effect. The mystery and suspense emanating from the clip empower Oh No to move the soul.

Robert Lauri has been a writer, composer and performer from a very young age. He has penned several hits throughout a long career which spanned ten years at Warner France. He has performed at the most prestigious international venues such as the Zénith, Olympia and Palais des Congrès in France, and has also taken part in the Telethon in the US and Canada. Robert Lauri is an eclectic musician with an international aura. He has mastered a wide variety of musical genres and his musical creativity seems to have no bounds. His sensitivity and openness to the world and to others make him a visionary melodist. He is ever prolific and treats us regularly to the range of his creative force. The diversity and wealth of his musical creations were much in evidence in 2011. The albums Western and Country and Power in Heaven were widely acclaimed and confirmed both his major musical talent and his capacity to innovate without respite. Every title is a passport to a new destination… to another world.

Mitch Hiller has written more than two hundred recorded songs. He has performed throughout Europe, the United Kingdom, the Middle East, the Caribbean and the US. He has also worked as vocal coach and/or as a singer for major labels such as EMI, Sony (Epic and Columbia), WEA, Polydor, as well as for other labels in France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain and the United States. He has worked in particular as a singer for such producers as Gus Dugeon, Chris Neil and Martin Ware. He has sung and arranged vocals on TV shows like Spitting Image, kytv and Heartbeat. He has performed on a number of cartoons including the long running 'Wisdom of the Gnomes" which was shown in the UK, U.S.A, Canada, Australia and other English speaking territories. Mitch Hiller has also worked on recordings and/or live works for internationally renowned artists as Don Myrick and Louis Saterfield of Earth Wind and Fire, Chicken Shack, Chaka Khan, Billy Ocean, Luis Miguel as well as playing guitar, piano and singing with The Foundations for a number of years.

As a songwriter his songs have been recorded by artists such as Elaine Paige, Johnny Logan, Nick Berry. Geno Washington and Sarah Jane Morris have sung his works. His acclaimed album Scrapbook was released in 2008. He has also recorded an album with Paul Higgs, A Different View.

The Oh No clip was created by a talented Italian artist, Anna Clara Passarelli. This is not the first video editing she does for Robert Lauri – far from it. What is different this time is that she has also taken the photos that she uses in it. The atmosphere that this video exudes is perfectly in tune with the song and strengthens the mysterious world created by the music and lyrics. All the music videos by Anna Clara Passarelli cover the songs featured on Robert Lauri’s websites in harmony. The Oh No clip showcases Anna’s talent again.

Brent Byrd Tours...Til' The World Ends 2012

Florida acoustic touring musician Brent Byrd aptly titled 'The Peaceful Rebel Man’ will kick off his 2012 Til’ The World Ends Tour on February 1st beginning with a performance at Churchill’s Pub in Miami, FL.

Byrd has been roughing it on the road to his dream, literally. Throughout 2011, Brent has been wearing out the tires on his 20' Coachmen RV touring the U.S. in support of his self-released CD 'Time To Start Livin'. He has been making waves across the country as an explosive live performer incorporating loops and acoustic instruments to create live improvised jams with a folk rock infused vibe.

Byrd has most recently performed with Beverly McClellan from NBC-TV's The Voice at Flamingo Gardens annual Flamingo Fest in Davie, Florida. Over the years he has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with many musicians to include Jason Mraz, Shawn Mullins, Uncle Tupelo (Jeff Tweedy, Jay Farrar), Thomas Ian Nichols (American Pie Movies), Velvet Revolver, Shinedown, Papa Roach and My Chemical Romance at Buzzfest XIV while touring with the band SuperDeluxe and Steve Ewing from The Urge as well as many other artists.

Byrd currently resides in St. Augustine but grew up in small college town in east central Illinois. After graduating high school he traded in his guitar for an M-16 and set off on a 4 year hitch in Army. The experienced opened up his eyes to the problems and tribulations of the world which has become an inspiration for his songwriting.

His music has been described as if Bob Marley and Jimi Hendrix were jammin’ at a late night party and just before sunrise The Black Crowes and Bob Dylan showed up to add the finishing touches to an unforgettable evening of musical madness.

During his 2012 tour, Byrd plans to descend on 11 states throughout the Southeast and Midwest wrapping up in April with a performance at The 48th Annual Ron Jon Easter Surf Festival in Cocoa Beach, FL before heading west. Brent says of his future touring plans, “I plan to keep on going until the world ends or the highway...then turn around and do it all over again”.

Confessions of a Lunatic Pope is the memoir series of Timothy Bowen, a Pope of Discordianism and High Priest and Ordained Minister of The Church of the Subgenius, author of two poetry collections, and the Discordian Holy Books Voices of Chaos and Jonesboria Discordia, and former front-man for numerous and infamous local bands in the Jonesboro, Arkansas area.

So far, there is already a soundtrack album available, and the first book volume is just about finished.

Do not be fooled into thinking this is your average memoir series. Not only does this experimental book series have one soundtrack so far, but it also utilizes a hyper-modern writing process that allows for immediate feedback, in that each section of the book is posted live on this blog as it's written.
