Listening to the new Patti Smith "Twelve" album, and getting goose bumps. It is rare these days to encounter something that speaks to one on such a visceral level. To say that these covers are revealing is truly an understatement. I thought it impossible to hear some of these songs with new 'ears', but just one listen to "Smells Like Teen Spirit" puts the lie to that thought. And who would have believed a warhorse from the pen of the tofu Beatle George, actually has some meaning beyond the hippie/psych sentiments we usually associate with "Within You, Without You. I recommend you get yourself to your nearest music emporium and treat your spirit to one of the best musical offerings of the year. You won't be disappointed.
Patti Smith

Music to Be Sick By

I got sick the other day, and I've been feeling pretty weak. I've had this perpetual snotball stuck in my throat, and I choke on it when I lie down to go to sleep, so I've been having to sleep in an upright position (which is almost never effective). Also, I've got some crazy painful headaches. So when I had that need to listen to some bass-bumpin' dance music at 7 AM yesterday, each beat was like a throbbing dagger in my sinuses.

So I'm on a mission to find some decent music I can listen to while I'm fighting off this cold. I listened to a good bit of Tangerine Dream yesterday, and it was pretty cool, but the thing about their music is that it gets kind of boring and uninteresting if you listen to too much of it at once (believe me, it hurt saying that). So I'm looking for some recommendations for some nice, quiet music to help me relax and get some rest. Lay it on me, dudes.

Ticketmaster sent me an email today, and it said that the Nintendo Fusion Tour was coming to the nightclub that's around the corner from my house. Hawthorne Heights is the headlining band, and Relient K and Emery are supposed to be there, too. So yeah, maybe I'll try to make an effort to this one. Now if only I can find some friends to go with me...<3

So, I've got a big, big to-do list of things coming up in October, among which are my 21st birthday. Excitement.
