Tak oto pozwalam sobie podsumować ten miniony rok po kątem muzycznym. Trochę pewnie przypadku wkradło się w kolejność, ale mniej więcej (mam nadzieję) udało mi się oddać co w 2011 roku zrobiło na mnie największe wrażenie.

FIELD RECORDINGS WORKSHOP IN BOCHUM

Field Recordings ist der Überbegriff für Audioaufnahmen, die nicht in einem Studio mit Hilfe von Instrumenten, sondern beispielsweise in der freien Natur durch das Aufnehmen vom Umgebungsgeräuschen entstehen. Mittlerweile haben sich Field Recordings zu einer eigenen Stilrichtung entwickelt und sind als atmosphärische Beigabe aus Ambient- und Dronesongs nicht mehr wegzudenken. Der italienische Soundtüftler und Experimentalmusiker Fabio Orsi hat eine ganz eigene Art entwickelt, aufgenommene Field Recordings am Rechner zu bearbeiten, um letztendlich ein Musikstück daraus zu kreieren. Das möchte er jetzt in einem Workshop weitergeben.

Pitchshifter to release a new album

It's been 10 years since Psi - the latest studio album from the UK industrial rock/metal band Pitchshifter was released, followed by Bootlegged Distorted Remixed & Uploaded compilation CD (2003).None For All And All For One was the latest single released in 2006. The band however has been working on a brand new record possibly to be released in 2012.

Q: NINa: Musicians are encouraged to be social with their following, but most often they treat their fans like numbers instead of showing respect to those who willingly join them in social networking. However, people in the music industry also judge bands by the numbers. Do you think fans are really supportive in terms of social networks or does direct contact through an official website seem to be a more powerful platform?

A: Sean Rieger (File Transfer Protocol): I spend a lot of time getting to know my fans through social media, and I spend a lot of time responding to them. I think that’s incredibly important. I want to know their faces. They take their time to know mine, it’s only fair that I do the same. Recently, I had a very thoughtful question come in over Twitter that I couldn’t answer fully in 140 characters or less, so I answered in an entire blog post. It only felt right. That person took the time to reach out to me, the least I can do is respond in a thoughtful manner, as well. Artist’s who view fans as numbers… well, I think they just don’t get it. Big publishers view fans that way, and look what’s happening to them.
