OK, here is the deal:

I have a large library of music containing 6,000 + songs (not trying to brag, honest!). I also have a bundle of playlists based on rating, play count, genre, etc. But I still feel like I often miss out on the good stuff, that little gem of a song that sits there and never gets played. And sometimes I wish I was better at making good playlists. You know, the kind that contains songs that match and plays well with each other?

So I've created a webpage listing all the music (the good, the bad and the ugly) in my library. I am asking you, the bored one, to create a playlist for me based on what you find here. Any flavor goes!

Thu 12 Jul – Kvinesdal Rock Festival

I only got to see a few of the bands on the festival, but the few I did see was great! Because most of the really cool bands played on Saturday, I only got a ticket for that day. We had planned to go down to the stage when the first bands played, but a combination of really bad weather and a hangover from the night before made us delay it a bit... :-) Because of this we didn't get to see Communic, Triosphere and The Cumshots. That sucked a bit, because I really wanted to see the first two, but I guess I will get the chance to see them later.

The first band of the evening we did see was The Carburetors. I haven't heard any of their music before, but they had a cool liveshow. Pyro-effects and a crazy guitar-player that jumped off the stage at the end of the show. He then ran through the audience while playing, jumping onto the tables in the beer-tent. :-) Not quite my music, but a cool show!

The Carburetors:

The second band of the evening was my heroes in Circus Maximus. Unfortunately they didn't have too good sound, and the keyboard was a bit too low in the mix. Also Michael doesn't hit all the high notes, but all in all a great show. They played a couple of songs from the new album, and I can't wait to hear those again. Great heavy prog-metal!

Circus Maximus:

The next band was an Iron Maiden tribute band called Moonchild. I was really impressed by these guys, it was almost like hearing Maiden play themselves! The singer did a really great job, and sounded a lot like Bruce Dickinson. They played a "best of" show with a lot of the good old Maiden-songs, and there was a lot of singing and headbanging going on. :-)

Moonchild:

Then finally, a bit late because of traffic-problems, Freak Kitchen entered the stage. What a fantastic live-band! Great music and a really funny gang! If you have chance to see this band live, you have to go see them. You won't regret!

Freak Kitchen: (sorry for the crappy picture...)

The next band was the highlight of the evening for many. Kamelot entered the stage with a bang! Pyro-effects that the other bands only could dream about, and they really rocked Kvinesdal! A few songs from Ghost Opera, but also a lot of the old songs. They really had great contact with the audience, partly because Khan is Norwegian and spoke in Norwegian between the songs. The fans chanted "Kamelot! Kamelot!" between almost every song! Great show! Best of the evening for me.

Kamelot:

The last band of the evening for me was TnT. I only got to see half of their show, because I had family-dinner the next day and it was getting really late. What can be said about TNT? I haven't heard much of their music before, but the band was really good. Unfortunately I haven't got a picture of TNT... sorry.

Obviously I didn't see the last band of the evening either, Danish D-A-D, but that doesn't really matter. I got to see Kamelot, Freak Kitchen and Circus Maximus, and if that's not a great evening I don't know what is! :-)

Kvinesdal Rock Festival has managed to arrange a great festival, and I really hope this becomes a tradition. I will be there next summer as well!

Check http://kaizers.konzertjunkie.de for an English version of this report and more pictures!

Meine Erwartungen waren gleich null.

Die Setlist bot eigentlich keine allzu großen Überraschungen: Ompa til du dør, Bøn fra helvete, Hevnervals, Container, Veterans klage, KGB, Senor Flamingos Adieu, Blitzregn Baby, Mann mot mann, Kontroll på kontinentet, Dieter Meyers Inst., Maestro, Zugabe Gypsy Finale. (Alles aus dem Gedächtnis und ohne Gewähr. *g*)

Also, die ersten drei Reihe.
