         <description><![CDATA[<div class="bbcode"><a href="http://www.last.fm/event/1867876+Face+to+Face+at+Masquerade+on+26+May+2011" class="bbcode_event">Thu 26 May – Face to Face, Strung Out</a><br /><br /><br />darlings- socal band of young guys obviously influenced by strung out... not bad, but, not fantastic, either...<br /><br />blitzkid- west virginia group of guys obviously influenced by misfits... was pleasantly surprised, quite melodic and very fast...<br /><br />strung out- hadnt seen them since probably late middle/early high school... they were pretty good, very energetic, and can still turn out metally melodic hardcore... only issue was jason cruz's vocals werent turned up loud enough, and he could barely be heard the whole show...<br /><br />face to face- a-fucking-mazing!... seamless transition from record to live on stage... trevor has a great voice, and shiflett is one of the most badass bassists in punk rock... every song is full of energy, to the point, and fun to singalong and bounce around... they started out with &quot;should anything go wrong&quot; and went right into &quot;you've done nothing&quot;, it was perfect... they played about 4 songs off the new record, and they are awesome... i was leaving as they played &quot;disconnected&quot; one of my all time favorite punk songs, and i left with a huge smile on my face...</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div class="bbcode"><a href="http://www.last.fm/event/1868762+Young+Widows+at+The+Earl+on+3+May+2011" class="bbcode_event">Tue 3 May – Young Widows, My Disco</a><br /><br /><br />a local band hawks played to start- its kinda like if mastodon were covering coalesce songs, and not doing it justice...<br /><br />my disco an austrailian trio got kinda boring pretty quick... just long jammy noodling from the guitarist that just keeps going, i did like the bassist's basslines he was playing, though...<br /><br />young widows put on a pretty good live show... i was a little unhappy with the fact that they seemed to be playing more stoner rock/jammy themed stuff and not more of the post-hardcore vibe i wouldve liked, but, i enjoyed them nonetheless...</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div class="bbcode"><a href="http://www.last.fm/event/1663505+NOFX+at+Masquerade+on+1+February+2011" class="bbcode_event">Tue 1 Feb – NOFX, Bouncing Souls, Cobra Skulls, Old Man Markley</a><br /><br /><br />awesome set, despite a very under the weather fat mike, and the most dickhead, ass holeish crowd i've ever seen... some guy threw a ham sandwich at fat mike on stage...and with his sister in the audience, he played &quot;orphan year&quot;, which was a really special thing to be a part of, and mike had to step off stage briefly to collect himself after playing it, and people were shouting shit and just really mocking everything that makes fat mike who he is... prob. had something to do with a skinhead or two that were there antagonizing mike... played alot of fav's though... lots of punk in drublic and some oldies white trash, two heebs...<br /><br />bouncing souls were hit or miss, not their best set, but, true believers is just amazing every time, hopeless romantic is always good, and there were a couple nice ones like lamar vanoy and east coast, fuck you!...<br /><br />cobra skulls i seem to enjoy more as i've seen them now twice live... its like a more sped up version of against me with plenty of rancid/clash elements... plus, they did a really badass version of bad religion's &quot;give you nothing&quot;...<br /><br />old man markley was pretty cool... almost like lucero covering flogging molly, or basically an american bluegrass version of flogging molly type tunes...</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div class="bbcode"><a href="http://www.last.fm/event/974389+The+Appleseed+Cast+at+Masquerade+on+10+April+2009" class="bbcode_event">Fri 10 Apr – The Appleseed Cast, An Horse</a><br /><br /><br />i know this is old, but, here goes a little review of the show...<br /><br />blue moon awakening- got there as they were mostly into their set, meh... some kinda weird techy tunes w/ a synth and playing heavy stuff... <br /><br />the natural- pretty bland stuff... singers' voice was terrible, some kind of bad power pop stuff...<br /><br />swank hotel- a very, very blatant ripoff of the strokes, i mean like plagiaristic... and not very good...<br /><br />an horse- the best time of the night... a duo, austrailian, girl w/ guitar, and guy on drums... very good stuff, catchy angular guitar riffs, and really sweet harmonies and good lyrics, need to get album from them...<br /><br />appleseed cast- eh, was good, but, i was kinda let down... i guess i had this notion that they would blow me away, and i was only slightly pushed... dont get me wrong, i enjoyed them, i love the loud atmospheric swirls of guitars and its good grown up indie rock tunes, but, i guess i was expecting something even more...</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div class="bbcode"><a href="http://www.last.fm/event/898635+Bouncing+Souls%2C+Dillinger+Four%2C+AKAs" class="bbcode_event">Sat 14 Mar – Bouncing Souls, Dillinger Four, AKAs</a><br /><br /><br />also late on this review but, i've been a busy man...<br /><br />the aka's were awesome... good lo-fi punknroll, and i talked to a couple of the members and they were quite nice...<br /><br />fucking dillinger four own your face!... man, what a fucking fantastic time it was watching d4... getting a chance to see them live is something i've wanted to do since high school, i love their sound and they, like me, are aging punk rockers from the midwest who enjoy a good show...  also met fatty outside while leaving and he was quite drunk , but,  said hi and talked for a second.... loves me some d4...<br /><br />bouncing souls also were quite kickass... havent seen them in many years, and they put on a good show... all the classics were played, hopeless romantic which they played like 3 times(either they forget they already played it, or just the crowd was into it so  much that they played it again) and my favorite true believers, and of course east coast, fuck you!... wanted to hear lamar vanoy, but, no dice... <br /><br />a great time, one of the best shows i've been to in a long time as far as the whole band line up and set...</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div class="bbcode">[event=867732]Wed 11 Mar – Less Than Jake, The Flatliners, The Expendables<br />[/event]<br /><br /><br />a little late here on this review , but, it wasnt a good time so, i wasnt in a hurry to post anything, and i'll make is short...<br /><br />first up were 50/50 shot from our area... i did like them... they have a full horn section with sax, trumpet, and two trombones, and i enjoy that kind of thing...<br /><br />the flatliners were okay... young canadians who sort of sound like a mix of lawrence arms and slapstick at the sime time which doesnt always work, but, they werent bad...<br /><br />ugh... the fucking expendables... maybe worse than the basturd sons... the singers voice is enough to make you stick a poker in your ear and they play this shit that i guess is big in the cali area... this contrived, rehashed sublime, stoner reggae/ska shit... they are flat out terrible...<br /><br />then to top it off ltj played their worst set i've ever seen from them in like 13 years and about 8 times i've seen them live... they played almost all new shit that the very young crowd kind of pulled the set towards and a scant couple of old school classics for us aging punk rockers... like only one fucking song from losing streak... they didnt even play automatic... <br /><br />very dissapointed in the show... i'm sure i'll go see ltj again if they come around, but, if the set is geared up again towards kids, i might leave...</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div class="bbcode"><a href="http://www.last.fm/event/963243+Propaghandi+at+Masquerade+on+8+March+2009" class="bbcode_event">Sun 8 Mar – Propaghandi, Paint It Black</a><br /><br /><br />just when i think everything is wrong with punk rock and its going down the shitter, a show like this comes along, and totally revives my faith in the spirit and energy of fucking awesome punk rock bands...<br /><br />i could take or leave the start off band, foundation from here in the atlanta area... basic preachy straight edge kids who dont quite have the chops to be so bold, but, nonetheless werent terrible...<br /><br />paint it black was up next... dan yemin is so fucking badass... he can do no wrong with this/lifetime/kid dynamite under his belt... incredibly brutal live, very intense... got some tracks from the paradise record went from track 2 with that great lifetime style intro, all melodic, right into exit wounds which just blew me away, love that song... <br />at one point during a pit involving some egde and what i assume mustve been non edge guys, a really big fight broke out... dan and the guys stopped the set mid song, he leaped off the stage and ran after the dudes with security outside along with the bassist making sure the one getting beaten up was okay...<br />briefly talked with the drummer after their set, nice dude... plus, they were doing and old school cheap diy show afterwards at some warehouse...<br /><br />propaghandi was incredible... these guys are so tight, and melodic, one of the best bands i've ever seen live... they played a good range of slower style and straight up mid 90s melodic hardcore stuff, plus their newer releases, everyone was enjoying the set, including the always crowd pleasing &quot;ska sucks&quot; and the badass &quot;back to the motor league&quot;... getting to hear that song live is a great feeling... and they had some fun canadian banter with the crowd which was pretty humorous...<br /><br />really good time.... this kind of show took me back to the days when i was first discovering punk rock and incredible it felt...</div>]]></description>
