I'm not into these little games / questionnaires that seem to be the current trend on here, but I came across one recently that was actually quite interesting... so I figured I'd give it a go..

Comments: Well this is just an acoustic piece, so it looks like I've been saved the torture of reading into the lyrics of some song with no positive message to be found. What can I say about this one... it's a mellow track added on the album after a heavier one and cleverly so after a scream (behind the screams, clever clever)... so the message? I'd take this one as friends seeing something beneath the surface?

For years I've been struggling with the question as to what to do with my life, my god here is the answer!

On reflection 2005 has been a pretty damn good year for new albums! As one of the world's most indecisive people, doing lists like this is almost torture - but here we have it...

01) CKY - An Ånswer Can Be Found
02) Sigur Rós - Takk...
03) Clutch - Robot Hive / Exodus
04) Beseech - Sunless Days
05) In Flames - Come Clarity (officially released next year, but I think it's safe to say most of us have heard the leak)
06) Charon - Songs For The Sinners
07) A Silver Mt. Zion - Horses In The Sky
08) Fireball Ministry - Their Rock Is Not Our Rock
09) The Alter Boys - The Exotic Sounds of The Alter Boys
10) After Forever - Remagine

Thanks to these bands for continuing to make such great music and for making the fretting before the releases so worth it. Here's to 2006...

Halloween - An Evening With Lacuna Coil...

Opened by Motorhead... well no, but the same bloody album was played twice before they came on, so might aswell have been. They had Motorhead playing before the acoustic set and then 70s soul music before the electric set... haha, what the cack!?

I think the wait would be one of my only complaints, other than the people, but it's hard not to hate other people at gigs (especially when they give you a dirty look whenever you happen to so much as brush against them - HELLO we're all compacted together, it's going to happen - I'm not a lesbian, I'm not feeling you up... get over it)

Other than that...
An incredible show, they sounded fantastic.. Cristina and Andrea sound better than ever together (I realised Andrea actually sounds kind of like Mike Patton sometimes <3) and the new songs!? OH MY GOD, I can't wait for Karmacode.

Oh and hooray for them not just playing songs from Comalies. As much as I love that album, it's nice to hear the older material aswell. Despite my fingers being crossed half the day, My Wings wasn't played... BUT they did play 1.19, Halflife, When A Dead Man Walks, Senzafine and To Live Is To Hide so I am MORE than happy!

I got a pick, but I can't find it today... I'm heartbroken

Oh and while this gig was going on, so was the CKY Halloween show in Philadelphia... if my heart needed one more stab to it, that would be it, haha.

Ah well... if you ever get the chance to see Lacuna Coil live, I'd highly reccomend it. This is my second time seeing them and they have once again impressed me to death.

CKY & Clutch ~ Birmingham / Nottingham, UK...

CKY, as always, played their hearts out. Even to the quiet crowd in Nottingham. Am I moaning about the Nottingham crowd? Hell no, they make us Brummies look even god damn better... CKY love us - Viva La Brum.

Clutch were also absolutely amazing. I'd been waiting quite a while to see them live. I missed them last time they came here (yes, I was heartbroken) but the wait was 110% worth it. They're so good live it's untrue. Next time they come here I will be there... and if they don't come back within the next 12 months, I will explode.
CKY also promised they'd be back... and said, once again, that Birmingham is by far their favourite place to play in the UK AND that if they had to play in just one place here, it'd be Birmingham. Feel the love.

For the want of a pen...
To add to the experience. I met Neil in Nottingham whilst looking for somewhere to get a drink. I was officially on cloud 9 for the rest of the night. Although it turned out neither of us had a pen, which was excruciatingly painful, so maybe cloud 8?
I henceforth decided to take a pen EVERYWHERE...
I then met JP after the B'ham show - this time with my trusty pen sidekick... the pen later to be whisked away from me never to be seen again by Mr. Jess Margera... so once again I am left penless - haha, I cannot bloody win.

CKY Show Highlights:

96 Quite Bitter Beings slow intro ~ if you've heard the Escape From Hellview slow intro, you know how good that is - now think of 96QBB. It's SO good.
Suddenly Tragic ~ thanks to Jess for his insistence on playing it when the rest of the band didn't want to <3
Shock & Terror ~ I just generally have a huge love for this song, so the fact that it was played at both shows was highly sexy
Plastic Plan ~ Gaah, it was only a bit, but what was played of it was orgasmic. It's the one CKY song that I really can't get into that much, but live it's indescribably great. They're heavier live and this song really works heavier.
Ending up on the balcony (B'ham) - the closed off balcony with about 5 people on it at the very most. We had what was probably the best view in the place... so altogether, that may well have been one of the best shows I've ever seen. Oh how I love them.
Clutch Show Highlights:
The Regulator ~ One of the best songs in the world off one of the best albums in the world - I didn't think I could love it any more... then I heard it live. WOW.
Actually, I'm getting fed up of typing now... lets stuff the highlights and just say both shows were utterly INCREDIBLE

I now have the flu and feel like I'm slowly dying - but I'm still happy...

Well, it finally came in the mail the other day!

Beautiful, as always. I really didn't know what to expect with this album, I try not to get too excited before new releases in case they're a disappointment - but I can happily say it is nothing short of AMAZING!! Although I do still think Njósnavélin will remain my most overplayed song. I really can't put into words how much I love that track... it's perfect? It's just one of those songs that hit me somewhere inside.

Granted, I'd already ^*cough* acquired this album in advance.. yes, I'm weak and easily seduced by leaks on the internet... but it's nice to have the actual CD in my hands finally and Sigur Ros are one of those bands that mp3s just don't do any justice to. I had to buy the special edition and my god it is so good. I love it when bands do things like that with albums, you feel like you're getting more for your money? (and of course it always brings out that "ohhhh back in the days of vinyls" speech from your dad), but back to the point, it's worth buying just for the artwork itself.

November 14th ~ Finally getting to see these Icelandic beauties here in Birmingham... ARRRRGGGHH I can't wait!!!!
