On february 17 I became father of my daughter Joni.

The birth of a child brings inspiration. For musicians it is the most obvious thing to make music with it. So here you see a live-looping experiment, with my first steps in video editing and with contributions by my girlfriend and my daughter.

Amorph is the solo project of Lionel Raymaekers. Based in , he started producing music in the end of 2003. His initial compositions began with an / theme but he soon grew tired of the genre. However, when he discovered the / world he quickly fell in love with it. Amorph is now producing music which crosses all subgenres of , and , focusing on the content and of his music.

Doorchaser’s opinion:

I know Amorph since april 2005. I’d just begun producing music with my computer and was a Big fan of those Electronica/IDM icons like Aphex Twin, The Future Sound of London and The Black Dog. I was wondering if any Belgian artists were making music in the genre and I just Googled on “Belgian IDM”. One of the first websites to pop up was http://www.electrobel.be (a Belgian website full of free Belgian homemade electronica going from hardcore to ambient and abstract hiphop). I uploaded a bunch of my stuff (Look at My Profile there) and up till now I didn’t regret that.

One of the first artists I discovered there was Amorph. His exquisite mix of , and nice electronic beats really inspired me to go on. I knew it was an artist to look out for. And I wasn’t surprised to hear about the Amorph releases on Heldernacht, enpeg digital, Boltfish and U-Cover.

Veel Belgen die de helden naar huis spelen/releasen. De enigste musical waar ik op vrijwillige basis naar gaan kijken ben, met 2 vrienden die me uiterst verrast hebben (Anatevka, fiddler on the Roof, CC De Mol, Lier).

Verder 1 nieuw eigen muziekproject samen met Pieter Delafortrie (naam nog in onderhandeling) waarmee zelf al 1 (en tevens ook het enige op heel het jaar) optreden gedaan waarbij ik voor de eerste maal achter de knopjes stond, maar waarbij het duidelijk was dat er nog veel schaafwerk aan was. De release van het tweede Distant Fires Burning album “7 Sisters” Met zeer mooie commentaren van de Pers. Een kleine feature van mijn sounds in een geweldig toneelstuk geschreven door Roel Spoelders (De Wereld is om zeep, Joenktoneel, Bonheiden) En een sisyphuswerk van een zoektocht naar een zangeres/zanger !!

En O ja de single van 2009 was toch Envoi van Absynthe Minded!! Dit was muzikaal 2009 voor mij

1) Ontayso – Abstract Series N°01 – 05: Dé Ontdekking van 2009, Belgisch (Geel) en de perfecte mix tussen ambient,dub en electronica. Wat minder is, is dat Ontayso nog een immens arsenaal aan andere releases heeft die ik dan ook nog moet hebben!!
2) Deepspace – The Glittering Domain: Prachtig Debuut! Wie had ooit gedacht dat zulke ambient uit Australië zou komen
3) Pearl Jam – Backspacer: De rotsvaste brok compromisloze rock in mijn eindejaarslijstes. Niet uit weg te slaan (Scheurkrater 1)!!
4) Biosphere – Wireless – Live at The Arnolfini, Bristol: Een van de minder stunning releases van Biosphere, Een live registratie die buiten een paar experimenten weinig verschil geeft met de versies op de platen. MAAR het blijft gewoon BIOSPHERE
5) Oubys – Surrender: Belgisch, 2 tracks ambient-dub-glitch Techno maar een kleine bom uit Hasselt die ten huize Wezelstraat is binnengevallen
6) Tim Hecker – An Imaginary Country: Beklijvende gitaarstukjes met de gebruikelijke containers effecten
7) Bpolar – Pheromones: Belgisch en weerom de perfecte mix tussen ambient, Drone, Glitch en abstract contemporary, telkens weer een van de must haves
8) Jonas Ruchenhever – Somber: Belgisch en toch een van de donkerste releases die ik dit jaar gekocht heb en dit zonder de schoonheid ervan te verliezen.
9) Fever Ray – Fever Ray: Op de valreep wegens eindejaarscadeautje maar zeer goed bevallen dus
10) Harmonic 313 – When Machines Exceed Human Intelligence: Iets anders dan Global Communication maar als dubstep en grime beluisterde plaat zeker niet slecht.

For those who don't know Neon Electronics, first of all shame on you, but do not fear: Below you can read everything to pump up your knowledge!After having contributed to the development of the -scene as one half of the -pioneers The Neon Judgement, Dirk Da Davo decided to launch his own project Neon Electronics. All the while Da Davo kept on fine-tuning his '' sound, which had become somewhat of a trademark. While negotiating with various European and American labels for the release of new material, Dirk launched his very own label and production company: DanceDelic D.
After having sold almost half a million records, Dirk Da Davo definitely has a solid fan-base from his past and present days with The Neon Judgement, who, together with Front 242, were the undisputed forerunners of - no, they're not sorry - and and 2 of Belgium's biggest musical exponents of the late 80s and the early 90s.
Da Davo is set to continue his work with Neon Electronics, proving that the older he gets, the younger he sounds!

Allthough not very known in Belgium aMute has allready toured in Canada and the US, but like all Belgian Quality products you have to dig deep to find it here in Belgium. I nevertheless found it!!! I never heard aMute before so the first time When Cyclic Brussels Gave Up, It Turned Me On scrobbled through my last.fm, player I had to know who it was. Names like Fennesz, Labradford, Wixel and The Dead Texan flew through my head but it seemed to be Jérôme Deuson a fellow Belgian from Namur.
I found The Sea Horse Limbo and this mix between , , and really touched me!!

aMute is a project born in the mind of Jérôme Deuson.
He was born somewhere near Namur and raised somewhere in the south of Belgium. He was given his first guitar at the age of 11 and never really looked back since. He followed the well known path of playing in a couple of bands, moving to the big city, playing in a couple of more bands, few concerts, so on. In 2002 Jérôme started his solo project called aMute, a compromise between his passion for so called “”, with its traditionally sad melodies, and his taste of all glitches and treatment softwares.

After two albums released on the Canadian label Intr-Version Records, aMute has now become a band. Samuel Volan, Thomas Venegoni and Julien Paschal teamed with Deuson to deliver the message of their brand new album “Infernal Heights for a Drama” out on Stilll in March 2009.
