There isn't a song on this album that I don't love. At one point when I was trying to pick a song from it for song of the day, I considered blindly choosing one because I couldn't do it. I decided on this one because a) I'm a sucker for whistling tunes, b) horns make songs better, and c) I can't help but love it when a scruffy man groans out lyrics about releasing his wild soul. What can I say, I guess I just love Langhorne Slim.

Words don't even describe how much I love Brian Wilson and his ability to create the sounds that he creates, thus, this album is pretty awesome. It's a nod to the amazingness of Pet Sounds in honor of the 50 year anniversary for The Beach Boys. This song is just so wonderfully Brian Wilson and so perfectly Beach Boys that I've fallen madly in love with it.

Where Do We Go From Here

It took a few listens to really get into this album, but I loved this song as soon as I heard it. The band has been around for awhile, but this is my first time hearing them. Not bad, they're definitely at the top of my favorite new album list for the week.

I don't have words for this one. Andre Williams is just straight up badass. Mixing punk, blues, and the attitude of a 73 year old man who's had it rough his whole life makes for some interesting new music. Nice touch on getting the Sadies in there to help out, Yep Roc. Job well done.

Happy new music Tuesday! This Tuesday wasn't too impressive for me, personally, but this little Australian garage-rock band caught my ear for a bit. It took a few listens to really start enjoying it, but definitely the best new album I've heard all day. Honestly, I was just happy to get away from the typical ethereal-sounding music that has somehow become so popular lately.

Day 101 (New Music Tuesday) - I Get Ideas

Good lord, I love M. Ward. This album has been played at least once a day since the moment I heard it. I just can't get enough.

Day 102 - Ride Wit Me

Heard an amazing cover of this song while shooting a band at open mic night on Wednesday. I nearly jumped out of my seat to dance along with it, and realized how nostalgic this song really is for me.

Day 103 - Wild About You, Baby

Happy birthday to the blues master/boogie-woogie king, Hound Dog Taylor. Blues wouldn't be the same without you!

Day 104 - Under Pressure

Okay, I know I already have Bowie on here, but this is technically Bowie + Queen, which is totally different. Anyway, it fit the day so perfectly I couldn't help it. Friday was hell.

Day 105 - White Wedding

I've decided to do wedding-related/common wedding reception songs on days that I spend shooting weddings. Saturday really was a pretty nice day for a white wedding.

Day 106 - The Lazy Song

8 hours of shooting yesterday, and this song is my life.

No one will ever hold a candle to Mike McCready as far as I'm concerned. He might be the only guitarist I know that could potentially play an entire set on his own without the rest of his band, and still have a crowd in tears by the end of the show. My favorite Pearl Jam songs, including this one, are my favorites because of him. Much love to Mike McCready on his birthday. Happy birthday, Mike!
