Never f. Big Rube - Piano intro, with sung parts by Deacon and a VERY ill spoken-word verse by Big Rube of Dungeon Family. Talks about people saying hip-hop is dead, and addresses it in a really fresh manner. Crazy way to kick off the album, it feels like some classic DF shit.

Valley of Death - Interesting intro, perfectly sequenced after Big Rube ends his piece...in a "gives you chills" type of way. Beat absolutely bangs, maybe the hardest beat Kno has ever laid down. Natti and Deacon trade verses about slavery, prison, life, racism...Deacon's use of the term "filthy farms" to reference plantations is wild, and the line "burn this witch down, Gretel with heavy metal" stands out...the wordplay is great.

Dirty Acres - Might be the illest beat on the record. Forget what that other dude on Last.FM said about it sounding like an Outkast song, this is some straight up Warren G circa 1994 west coast sh*t. Some warm night, windows down sh*t. Great, personal verses from Deacon and Natti, too.

Interlude One - N/A

K.K.K.Y. - Another banger of a beat, but more soulful, and Deacon and Natti talk about the state of Kentucky and its misconceptions. Short track, but in a good way...straight to the point.

Wonderful f. Devin The Dude - Perfect track for Devin the appear on, very soulful chopped samples with strings and keys and an occasional vocal sample. All 3 emcees talk about having temptations towards the opposite sex, but wanting to be gentleman...funny stuff. Adding "wonderfully fuckable" to my lexicon.

Yellow Lines f. Phonte and Witchdoctor - Good to see Witchdoctor from Dungeon Family back on the scene, and Phonte comes nice as always, but Natti absolutely steals the show here with a verse you'll have to rewind at least 20 times to fully absorb because of the intricate wordplay. The song is a playful, sexy song...grown folks music in a tongue-in-cheek way.

The Park - Perfectly sequenced in the context of the album, this is the last "feel good" song before the rest of the record gets a tad darker. Talks about a day in the park, but with alot of very southern twists. Piano playing is really nice addition, hook vocal sample is dope on a Sade-level, her voice is enchanting...wish it played through more than once.

Summer’s Gone - Short psuedo-interlude connecting 'The Park' with 'Gun', talks about heat and summer violence. Vocal sample wishes summer was gone, Natti rips it.

Interlude Two - N/A

Gun f. Sheisty Khrist - Another banger of a beat, drums knock and the guitar chops are crazy. Hook from Deacon is really catchy too. Kno's verse is comparing Iraq and the search for WMD's to Diallo's police brutality case in New York, with a metaphor running through all 16 bars. Interesting. Sheisty Khrist has a dope voice and presense.

Dance For Me - Breezy but dark beat, banging drums and bassline, dope vocal sample on the hook. Song is about dancers, or how everyone is a dancer for someone in their own way. If I told you this was a song about strippers from a southern rap group, you'd probably pre-judge...but then again CL isn't typical.

Georgia - Eerie guitar and vocal samples underly the emotional nature of the track, two first person stories from Kno and Natti respectively about Kno's childhood in Georgia and the passing of Natti's mother, Georgia. Great introspective track, on par lyrically with songs like Family Ties.

Things I Dream - Maybe the best song on the LP and one of CunninLynguists', 3 storytelling verses about personal (or not?) dreams/daydreams where the emcee steps outside of themselves in violence, and the tension buids with the beat changes, and ends with calmness and resolution. Great track, 3 great verses and performances over a dramatic beat.

Mexico f. Club Dub - Kind of an 80's sounding throwback joint, really catchy hook...the song is about goals and dreams and how they can effect relationships. Probably could be a hit if they were on Def Jam, but its a dope song nonetheless.
