The Futureheads sure know how to set a venue on fire- that's exactly what they did at the Warwick Students Union on Friday, really whipping the crowd up into a frenzy. So frenzious two people decided to fight, with one idiot being kicked out, prompting a joyous performance of Stupid and Shallow. All in all, it was a fantastic time, with the Futureheads being a great abnd and really making it a gig worth going to. Sadly, on the other hand, Grammatics ended up earning more laughs than applause, many citing the lead singer as being annoying for osme reason, perosnally I didn't think he was that bad. The NME Freshers is reaching the end of it's tour of the UK's universities and they rolled into Warwick University and boy, did they deliver. The Satin Peaches had kicked off the night, but sadly they didn't really get the crowd going, with only a few drifting from the bar area (myself included) to the stage- the music was good, but it didn't really capture the imagination. Operator Please were next up, and pulled a large amount of people to the stage with impressive energy and enthusiasm- and remarkable maturity for their age. The music was good and vibrant which I really enjoyed as the whole set was very enjoyable, but sadly a bit short. Just A Song About Ping Pong really got the crowd going though and I saw quite a lot of CD's trade hands at the end for the band.

The Go! Team had always been the main draw of the gig and they simply blew everybody away. The bands undying energy and love for fun really made the performance more than just music with the ever-moving Ninja really wowing the crowd. The crowd loved the entire set, everybody seemingly jumping up and dancing; having a purely fun, fantastic time. I loved the gig and would gladly go see either Go! A lot. It's the fastest selling album. One person even compared them to The Beatles (Seriously.)

Now, I am a Arctic Monkeys fan. I loved the first album, although my Last.fm stats suggest otherwise. I've listened to the new album twice now...and I have to say, I don't get what all the fuss is about. I really don't. Not to say it's a bad album. It's just lacking "oomph." My main problem is the opening few tracks. They just don't get you excited. Good first tracks are a must. Kaiser Chiefs had Ruby. Bob Dylan's album Bringing It All Back Home opens with Subterrean Homesick Blues. With the Arctic Monkeys, We're treated to Brianstorm. Not a bad song, but not a great one. Infact you could sum up the whole album like that. It's consitently good. It's just not great. There isn't a stand out song.

All in all, it's alright. But nowhere near the hype. You could do without in your music library. What could you do with though? I've been listening to a few new albums this week. The Mooney Suzuki and their album Electric Sweat. Now this brought a genuine smile to my face. It's a very good album, that you can easily listen to. It flows together nicely, and has some fantastic songs- Oh Sweet Susanna is the best of a great bunch. Another great album I've tried this week? The self-titled album from Cansei de Ser Sexy. Now, I admit the music in somecases is a bit odd, but it doesn't matter- it's a nice enjoyable album which throws up the odd laugh. Although I think the opening part song/thing CSS Suxxx is a bit...pointless. If you ask me, skip straight to Patins which keeps confusing me as to where it ends and Alala begins.

And yes, I do know I use commas far too much. I'm also planning to reviews albums I listen to for the first time more often. Even if nobody cares I do.

And one last note...I'm going to see Bill Bailey on Tour. It's going to be fantastic.]]>
