Take your top 20 artists. For each of these artists, collect the top 5 similar artists. The resulting number of unique artists is your eclectic score. If the score is small (extreme = 5) your musical preferences are very limited, and if it is large (larger than 80, extreme = 100), then you have an eclectic musical preference.

If a review for 2006 was done, then it couldn't have been any other way for 2007. Though it seems to me that this year was basically more of the same, I'm bored, infected with mono, and I honestly just can't help it so here it goes.
Talking generally 2007 was a very nicely balanced year. And positive in most aspects. I was going to say straight away that it's been better than 2006, but I thought about it for a second and damn, they've been so different. Both great, but so different. It's like I'm so much older now. I'm not giving any details whatsoever, let's pass on to the musical side.
Late 2006 and early 2007 were all about rediscovering The Libertines and discovering Muse. First album I got was Black Holes & Revelations, which got me into getting Absolution which instantly drove me insane. It was nothing like I'd heard before, so unique. Hysteria, Time Is Running Out and The Small Print are powerful wrathful songs which I really needed at the time... I was quick to get to listen to Origin of Symmetry (its songs Bliss, Darkshines, Hyper Music and of course Plug In Baby made me an addict) and Showbiz, on which I wasn't very keen until about May.
So it was summertime by them, and summer nights appeal to me as a good time to listen to Queen. Mum's always been a fan and dad loves their powerful tracks, so I've sort of grown up to their music. However this time I listened to them on my own, found a masterpiece in Jazz and fell in love with songs like Jealousy, Dreamer's Ball and My Melancholy Blues. Nice.
My swedish obsession hadn't worn off but actually considerably increased, because of Laakso. Aaa I was so hooked! I remember listening to them in my dad's balcony as I stared down the busy avenue at 3 in the morning. This situation always gets me sentimental so I even cried to Emmylou and Aussie Girl. That Merry Christmas song and of course True Love and High Drama made me smile, though. Nice band to listen to while lying down on a beautiful brazilian beach (in all honestly though, any band is nice to listen to given that specific situation...) . One last thing to mention, is that I got genuinely pleased when I got their Mother, Am I Good Lookingsent right from Europe (danke Co! *loves*).
Another band that I started to pay attention to while standing on the balcony, was Radiohead . Only certain songs (Idioteque, The National Anthem, Myxomatosis, Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors, The Gloaming. (Softly Open Our Mouths in the Cold.)) until I couldn't help buying Hail to the Thief and being mentally absorbed by it. Has to be one of my favourites in my (humble) collection.
Another chapter in my Svenska-loving period was Billie the Vision & the Dancers. I couldn't get tired of them. Seriously, beware because they're bloody addictive. I used to fall asleep to them while I spent some days at the seaside. The World According To Pablo is sweet, (not very) funnily enough, a reminder of a real situation. Ghost, One more full-length record, lovely. Also swedish and also a seaside-time lie-down reminder, I'm from Barcelona. Oversleeping was the only track that caught my attention unfortunately, most probably due to its cuteness.
The Pipettes were another rather addictive summer discovery. Aw aren't they catchy? All their songs on We Are The Pipettes are just adorable somehow.
The same day I got back from the seaside a great experience was awaiting me. COLDPLAY LIVE!. Fantastic. Worth every cent I paid from my then income-less pocket. Yellow was mindblowing, got my eyes all teary. Too bad I didn't make a review at the time! I really should've. Was something I'll never forget.
March came, with it the beginning of classes and Regina Spektor. I hardly ever listen to mellow melodies with female voices, but she's just different. Can make you cry (Samson, Chemo Limo), can make you smile (Ne me quitte pas, On the Radio), can make you think (Carbon Monoxide, Ghost of Corporate Future), etc. Amazing voice, special songs, perfect for a walk around the city in a rainy summer afternoon.
I also associate Cansei de Ser Sexy with this time of the year, waking up to Fuck Off is Not the Only Thing You Have to Show, Let's Make Love and Listen Death From Above and Off the Hook. I love this sort of music, danceable but still listenable if you get what I mean. Loads of good energy. Got their album, and also Peter Bjorn and John's Writer's Block (which is rather pleasant and nice with songs like Amsterdam and Let's Call It Off) right away.
April was all about Keane since I was all excited to see them. They weren't new for me anyway, just their latest record off which my favourites are Nothing In My Way, Hamburg Song and Leaving So Soon?. KEANE LIVE! Their gig was unexpectedly amazing. We were hoping for a short, average festival-like sort of show, but they almost played their complete discography and it was highly entertaining! I regret not having written a review for this one as well. They were superb.
The Angry Mob was my next purchase and it made me love the Kaiser Chiefs more than ever. Got crazy with Everything Is Average Nowadays, Thank You Very Much and all their new stuff in short. Since then I've been rediscovering tracks from Employment (You Can Have It All, Saturday Night, Caroline, Yes), b-sides (I Heard It Through the Grapevine, From The Neck Down) and everything on Lap of Honour which I've grown to love. Just as much as Ricky Wilson himself.
May equaled Muse again. My dad had just brought me Showbiz, Hullabaloo and Origin Of Symmetry straight from Europe and I was delighted. The day I travel to Europe I'm so going to get arrested for album smuggling.
June...ah Maxïmo Park. Only that. Their Our Earthly Pleasures struck me like a lightning for its brilliance. Nosebleed, Books From Boxes, Girls Who Play Guitars, Your Urge, By the Monument, Russian Literature, Our Velocity, all classics! Unbelieavable. Definitely my biggest obsession this year, saying that I also found . Missing Songs and a couple of b-sides astonishing.
In July it was The Clash who ruled my charts. I wish I'd been born in the 60's just for them. They're irreplaceable, they have a song for each music style. They cover everything, I adore them. I'll only say that in my opinion Give 'Em Enough Rope is their best album, 'cause I'd spend the rest of my life naming favourite songs. During the winter break I got into some other british bands like Little Man Tate, The Pigeon Detectives and The Fratellis all of my strong liking. Spot on Who Invented These Lists, You Better Not Look My Way and Chelsea Dagger respectively. By then also I had decided to spin Arctic Monkeys' Favourite Worst Nightmare again, only to become aware of how fucking amazing it was. Teddy Picker, D Is For Dangerous, 505, how could I have possibly missed all that?! I reckon I enjoyed The White Stripes' Icky Thump and that I revalorised Oasisbecause of The Masterplan. Especially Half the World Away and Acquiesce.
I've also realised how much I like The Beatles' older stuff. My dad's always made me lsiten to them, but my favourite will probably be I Saw Her Standing There thought I've recently got a lot into Anna (Go to Him) Aah.
In August I started some kind of weekly job which I have each time, since then, carried out with Mew on my iPod, 'cause I've decided it's great music to work to. Got into The Rakes, especially Terror!. Pleasantly up-beat, yeah. Editors were something different, but still really good and will probably grow in me a lot during the following months. Interesting music they make.
In September I was introduced to The View, don't know what they've got but I enjoy listening to Wasteland and The Don very much.
October was a nice month. It always is, but this time there was In Rainbows. I adored it at its first listen, thank to Bodysnatchers and All I Need amongst others. I'd been looking for something like LCD Soundsystem for a while. It's quality. Can't stop wanting to dance while giving a listen to Time to Get Away, Disco Infiltrator, North American Scum, Watch the Tapes, etcerera. Needless to say that during October I couldn't get my ears off the Monkeys, waiting for their arrival. No need to talk about how absolutely perfect their gig was with such a review below this entry. New Babyshambles was a nice surprise as well, Baddies Boogie and UnBiloTitled being my favourites so far.
Nothing special in November, except for the continuous plays of The Police's best of. Another band that I often listen to with my dad. I found myself being familiar with most songs, but not knowing their lyrics or titles.
On December 1st, The Police gig took place, and it was more than any of the ones admiring them were expecting. Copeland is a freaking monster, and every song sounded exceptionally good. Message in a Bottle, Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic and Next To You the highlights.
That was it, chronologically. Other interesting things that I first listened to this year, but still have to pay more attention to are: Kashmir, Belle & Sebastian, Modest Mouse, Graham Coxon, The Streets, The Cribs, Good Shoes, The Holloways, The Kooks, Nirvana, The Kinks, The Who.

So it's been a good year. And a really long night.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
xxx

Wed 24 Oct – Arctic Monkeys, Bicicletas

Yo, debido a mi escasa estatura, no podía ver nada. No me importaba.
21.40, ruidos y gritos prolongados. Estaban entrando. Comenzaron a tocar, un instrumental que luego me fui a enterar, se llama Wagon On The Way To The Stripey Tent. Seguidito Dancing Shoes! Siguiendo la tanda de TE-MA-ZOS, vino From the Ritz to the Rubble. I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor . Do Me a Favour fue, junto con If You Were There, Beware , lo más calmado del espectáculo.

So, I guess I had to write a journal one day, and even if I do it every three days in Spanish in my fotolog, I thought it'd be cool to try to summarize the year here.
2006 has been a great year, the best so far I have to say. I always end up saying that the year that has just finished has been the best so far, I guess it's just the phase I'm going through - awesome highschool. I'll try to keep this entry within the musical aspects, don't know if I'll succeed. This year was the most important musically, because I began looking for music myself, listening to recommendations and discovered new bands that I would have never heard of if it wasn't for some great influences.
At the beginning of the year, I reckon I only listened to Coldplay , all day long. I guess it was just because of the fact that I had joined their Official Messageboard some months before, and I felt like I HAD TO listen to them all the time. I enjoyed it though. I learnt how to love all of their songs, something that hadn't really happened to me before. With any other band, I mean. Right before the beginning of classes, let's say end of February - March, I somehow got really hooked with Green Day. My brother, was becoming a true fan by those days, and I guess he really influenced me. I just felt like shouting all the time, and that was exactly the music I needed to let it all out. I still listen to Dookie now and then, even if I don't know why I enjoy it so much. Especially the tracks Chumpand Coming Clean. Maybe it's my punk side. (punk?! I know nothing about music genres! ). After that I don't really remember any great discovery until The Strokes. Oh my. Of course, I first heard all the singles, mainstream, blah, but as soon as I got their albums, I fell in love with them. I still am in love with them, and I don't think that love is fading anytime soon. I would do anything to see them live I suppose. Favorite tracks in each album: Is This It: Barely Legal, Trying Your Luck, Hard to Explain; Room on Fire : Under Control; First Impressions of Earth: Ize of the World, Red Light, Razorblade. In between, came all the parties, typical of being 15 years old, that got disturbing reggaeton into my head for about two months. I'm sorry about that, heh. Also came the World Cup! Ahh such amazing days. Couldn't be too pissed off at the Germans since one of my best friends is German, but God knows how much I suffered. Of course, that is nothing compared to how much I enjoyed that footie-flooded month. Talking of my German friend, (www.last.fm/user/Pauline_Porton) she was certainly one of the most influencing people this year. In a lot of things, but mainly in music. Swedish pop. David & The Citizens. Sometimes I listen to them and wonder why I like them, because they're really pop and whatnot, usually the stuff I don't quite like. But they grew in me, and now, they're my top artist, overall. Some of their songs are magical, well I must sound like a drunk dork but they are. I don't seem to get tired of them. Which is good. Fav. tracks: Now She Sleeps in a Box in the Good Soil of Denmark,Daydream With Dan And Mum, Absent Mind, Song Against Life, Out of My Hands, What if Nobody Would Catch Us?, As You Fall (I Watch With Love). The Fine Arts Showcase, also a very good band, new to me like everything. Another highlight of my recently-discovered Swedish Pop:Pelle Carlberg. Totally sweet and enjoyable. And, like somebody said, "pretty". Pauline_Porton also got me into Yeti (band of which I only have eight songs that I love dearly) and, The Libertines(band that I started really feeling and enjoying in November/December. How awesome these guys were, eh.) From another influencing person, I got reccomendations of The Futureheads (highlights: Skip To The End, Decent Days And Nights, and, mainly Hounds Of Love), and Bloc Party. With Bloc Party it was weird, because in first place, my brother was kind of obsessed with them at one point, and experience had told me not to get hooked with anything my brother is obsessed with. So I tried to avoid them for months, until this person said that I would like them. And I did, of course. He's never wrong anyway. From this same person, a totally different band: Massacre. Massacre the Argentinian underground band, not any of the others, not even the one that appears in the music quilt. Okay so, they took long to grow in me. First off, because they are quite more punkish than most of the stuff I listened to at the time. Second off, I have the bad habit of automatically rejecting most local music. I don't know why I do it. After all, if I ever form a band or record an album, it'd be "local music". I hope it goes away soon. So I slowly got into this band, I just have to wait the oportunity of seeing them live to seal my Massacre Love. Another relevant gruop of 2006 for Agos: Mew. Yet another discovery that I owe the boardies. Because, how would I ever find out of this amazing Danish band otherwise, living here in the other side of the world? I can't say much about them. I just love them to death. They're so different and unique, yet so familiar...they're special, and I love that. Tracks: Shespider, White Lips Kissed, Snow Brigade, Eight Flew Over, One was Destroyed, Apocalypso, Wheels Over Me. Three other great bands dicovered this year for me: Hot Hot Heat, Maxïmo Park and Kings of Leon . Just amazing, and they fit my taste perfectly. Muse was my last discovery of 2006 I guess. I had heard about them so much, I was just to lazy to download/buy an album by them. But, www.last.fm/user/Le-Ann, said I couldn't miss them out, and ordered me to get their Black Holes and Revelations. And it grew in me so quickly that I got crazy for getting the rest of them. Now they're all "in-the-grow" (?).
So, now it's 4AM here, and I am way too sleepy to continue, anyway I don't have much more to say I think. Obviously, during the next week I will remember stuff that I missed out, but well.
I don't think you enjoyed reading this at all, I mean, it's not interesting or anything, but I couldn't let this year go away without making a little resume.
Cheers, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Agos.
