(this is kind of a weird song for a wedding, but some of the lyrics fit… “Now you're taking me away with you tonight / and I know that I can't fly / But when I'm in your arms / I'm holding up the sky/ …And there you were, standing there / Like an answer to a dream I never had / You… showed me everything I never knew about me.” Anyways, this is a sweet rock song… probably my favorite Kids in the Way song… and that’s saying a lot since Kids in the Way is pretty much amazing.


Birth of a Child:
Black Balloon by Goo Goo Dolls – from the album Dizzy Up the Girl

(so this is pretty odd for the birth of a child, although he does say the words “baby” “womb” (out of context of course… “Baby's black balloon makes her fly… and scatter like ice from the spoon that was your womb”)


Final Battle:
Supafly by The O.C. Supertones – from the album Hi-Fi Revival

(so Wally & I were thinking this would be an amusing fight sequence to say the least, like the fight scene from Anchorman or something, since the song is so fun and upbeat… “We came to rock the sure shot / We came to do the robot,”


Funeral Song:
First Day of the Rest of Your Life by MxPx – from the album Before Everything & After

(pretty funny for a funeral… it’s true for someone who’s going to heaven though… although the song is really about moving on after a break-up…. I love this song though… probably my favorite MxPx song EVER… which is saying a heck of a lot… I mean, MxPx is by far my most listened to artist on last.fm… and I’ve loved them for over a decade… I already shared some of my favorite lyrics to this song in an earlier journal entry, but here’s the chorus…. “First day of the rest of our lives / I miss you already / Last time I saw that look in your eyes / I miss you already.”

End Credits:
Step Into The Light by Chasing Victory – from the album A Not So Tragic Cover Up

(this is a sweet way to end the movie to my life as this song is a new favorite of mine and Chasing Victory is AWESOME, and it’s cool how my opening credits and end credits are the only 2 “screaming songs.” The chorus has some of the best screams I’ve ever heard. And the lyrics are really good… “We'll never be alive until we open up our eyes / Step into the light / …Everyone can plainly see we were never dead / We were searching for a contagious disease / I guess we'll never understand it / We'll never be alive until we open up our eyes.”

4. How many times have you seen 6 live?

only once, but it was probably the most fun i've ever had watching any single artist ever... it seemed like everybody was singing, no screaming, every word to every song (including me). We were all packed like sardines. I got more sweaty and thirsty than I've ever gotten at a concert. It was SO much fun though. I can still picture seeing Christian crowd surfing like 3 feet to my left, while i was screaming every word to Sleepwalking with everyone else. I hope to see this band again SOON.

5. What is your favorite song by 7?

Wow that's like asking me what my favorite song of all time is... there's so many that come to mind... if i must pick I guess I'll go with A Boy Brushed Red Living in Black and White. I don't want to start naming honorable mentions though cause I'll be here forever.

6. What is a good memory you have considering the music of 10?

Singing every word in my car at the top of my lungs, headbanging, by myself or with my brother (to any of the albums, it doesn't matter which one, they all rock). One song that comes to mind that my bro and i sing at the top of our lungs every time is Intro. That one's always fun.

7. Is there a song of 3 that makes you sad?

Yea. Definitely. There's 2 that come to mind right away. Thinking About Forever & Full Color The songwriter and lead singer for P.O.D., Sonny Sandoval, wrote those songs in memory of his mother. She passed away from leukemia at the age of 37. My mom was also 37 years old when she passed away from breast cancer. So I can really identify with these songs.

9. What is your favorite song by 9?

Wow that's a tough one. My first favorite was One Eye Open but recently it's been This Time I'm Leaving... so I'll go with the most recent as my favorite

10. How did you get into 3?

Great Question. I think the first song I heard was Rock the Party on TRL. It was good but it didn't make me want to buy the album. The song that made me want to buy the album was when I heard their cover of U2's Bullet the Blue Sky. I thought it sounded amazing. I loved it way much more than the U2 version (and I still do). I had heard from a friend that Southtown and Outkast were also great songs, so I decided to ask for The Fundamental Elements of Southtown for Christmas in 1999. My brother ended up buying it for me for Christmas and from then on I've been a huge fan ever since.

11. What was the first song you heard by 1?

Super Good Feeling, I think it was on Seltzer, if any Christian rock fans of the 90's know what I'm talking about. That's the only song I heard before I bought Static. I've been a huge fan ever since.

12. What is your favorite song by 4?

Another tough one. I'll go with Let It Out. I always sing that one at the top of my lungs. It's great live too.

13. How many times have you seen 9 live?

Only once. It was AWESOME though. The mash during Wake The Regiment was SWEET. They were really energetic and fun. I HIGHLY recommend seeing them live.

14. What is a good memory you have concerning 2?

There's so many. Doing John Cooper's Alien Youth bible study with the my guys bible study in highschool was really cool. That counts I guess. It definitely concerns Skillet. But if you want one specific moment, I guess I'd say hearing Angels Fall Down live. Best worship experience I've ever had.

15. Is there a song of 8 that makes you sad?

Not really. The saddest song is probably A World Away but, for me personally, it doesn't really make me sad.

16. What is your favorite album of 5?

That's an easy one. Before Everything & After

Most longtime fans of MxPx will probably say an older album. I have all of them. I just like this one the best. I'm actually listening to it RIGHT NOW as I type this.

17. What is your favorite lyric that 3 has sung?

18. What is your favorite song of 1?

Well there's 2 different names for the song as they're split up into 2 different tracks. The 2nd is a continuation of the first. It's basically the same song, the 2nd is pretty much a reprise. The first part is the song Knocked Out & the second part of the song (the reprise, if you will) is actually ONLY the SECOND HALF of the song Sufficient. I think they stuck it there as a surprise to fans. It's pretty much Knocked Out (Reprise). They either didn't want to have to name it or they wanted it to be a surprise. It's amazing though. You have to hear it all someday if you haven't already. The original song can be found on the album Again, for the First Time and the reprise can be found on the album Farewell, Old Friends.

19. What is your favorite song of 10?

I gotta go with When In Doubt

But Small Town deserves an honorable mention.

20. How many times have you seen 1 live?

Twice. And they are now split up. So that's all I will be able to see them sadly. I caught them after their self titled or untitled album, and then again on their farewell tour.

21. What is your favorite album of 3?

Wow. Tough one. I'm gonna have to go go with Satellite but I also really like their very much underrated self titled 2003 album, Payable on Death (the album cover they have for this album is WRONG -- they show the album cover for the Live at Tomfest CD.

22. What is a great memory you have considering 9?

Hmmmmm. I love rocking out to them in my car and in my basement. But as for one specific memory, I'd have to go with the one time I saw them in concert.

23. What was the first song you heard by 8?

It was Promise on ChristianRock.net. I heard it and I didn't know who it was at first. It had a different sound to it that I really liked. Matt Baird's vocals seemed really raw and passionate. That was the one song I heard before I bought A Moment of Imperfect Clarity. I LOVE that album. I've actually sung that song into the microphone on 3 different occasions at Spoken shows. I've seen them in concert like 4 or 5 times and the last 3 times Matt Baird has let me sing part of that song into the mic cause he sees me front and center singing every song at the top of my lungs. The last time he let me sing part of Time After Time & September too. They are awesome live. REALLY easy (and fun) to sing along to. If you like raw but melodic hard rock music, you must see them in concert before you die.

"Jesus Christ our Savior… is the propitiation, the satisfaction if you would, for our sins, and not just for our sins, but for the sins of the whole world. The blood of Jesus Christ flowed from seven places.

The first place He bled from, the blood that poured from His head that day. The blood from the thorns in His skull cleanse you from thoughts, the blood that was on His face He has covered the things that you may not want to face up to because of what you've seen or heard. Know this, the blood flowed for you.

'Yeah, but Jon, you just don't know. I've backed away from the Lord, I've turned my back on him.' Well they took a flagellum and they beat His back and blood flowed from His back, it reduced to hamburger meat that day, His back was beaten so brutally. And if you've turned your back on Him and walked away from Him, know this, the blood, the blood that poured from His back, cleanses you sprinkles you.

'Yeah but Jon, you just don't know what I've done with these hands.' Those hands were pierced, those hands were pinned to the tree, spikes driven through those hands where He bled to cleanse you and cleanse me from the stuff that we've handled that we ought not to have handled, the stuff that we've done that we ought not to have done. Hey, understand, the blood flowed from His hand.

'Yeah but it's stuff that's inside of me Jon, It's just things that I feel in my gut, I have bitterness towards them, and I'm angry with her.' Jesus wants you to know that blood flowed from His side when they thrust that spear into Him when He hung on the cross.

'Feet that walked where I ought not to have walked.' Blood flowed from His feet too, when the spike pinned Him through the feet, to the cross of calvary.

And now I realize things that I can't face up to, thoughts that I've had that are not right, not good, not true, bitterness inside of me, stuff I've touched that I ought not to touch, places I've gone where I ought not to have walked. And I look and I realize the seven-fold flowing of the blood of Christ cleanses me in every area from all sin and I'm free, and I'm forgiven, by the blood. What can wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus. Seven times perfection, seven places, that's what He went through, for me and for you."
