Sun 29 Apr – Cannibal Corpse, Behemoth, Job for a Cowboy, The Red Chord, PsyOpus

I went to this show last minute, and boy am I glad I did.

Okay, let's get right down to it then, shall we? PsyOpus, a big reason I went to this . . . they're original, outstanding, technical, brilliant, creative, spaztic. . . . I can think of a hundred words to describe PsyOpus, but I can sum it up in one word: AMAZING! I was so impressed, they were exactly what I expected them to be. Although some fucks in the crowd kept booing them and saying they weren't real metal. So this following statement goes out to all of you closed-minded elitest fucks: STOP PUTTING METAL IN A BOX! There should be no fucking standards on what's metal and what isn't metal, and it's bands like PsyOpus (and alot of others I can name) that show that and take this genre to another level by creating something different.

Now, Job For A Cowboy was much better than when I saw them at Saints and Sinners Fest here in Jersey, they put on such an great performance. I went crazy in the pit, took a hard blow to the head (still have a bump), a pretty tough fall, and a powerful kick to the stomach that sent me stumbling out and leening on my friend for a while. I was a bit disapointed they didn't play Relinquished, but it's alright. They played alot of new stuff, which sounds good, I'm looking forward to their first full-length (Genisis).

The Red Chord, baby! FUCKING AWESOME! When they played Blue Line Cretin I lost my mind, and when they ended with Dreaming In Dog Years, that entire place was chaos! I got to meet Guy also, who was really nice; got a picture with him and he signed my poster, which was also awesome.

Behemoth, my second time seeing them... which is lucky, because this is the only show they played on this tour. They seemed to put on a much better performance than at Sounds of the Underground last summer (this is probably because I saw them at a small venue this time, which I like better). I got to meet them this time, too; Nergal signed my ticket.

Cannibal Corpse! I don't really listen to them, the gore thing isn't much my style, but I NEVER get tired of seeing them live (this was my third time, actually). They're so crazy and nuts, and they really know how to rowdy up the crowd at their shows. I also got to meet Pat O’Brien before the show and get a picture with him as well.

All in all, the show was amazing and every band put on a brutal performance. :)

-Phoenix

When DevilDriver came on I went nuts; wish they would have played a few more songs, though. The new stuff they played sounded awesome, I can't wait for their new album (The Last Kind Words). And, of course, when Unearth came on, I was done. . . . My arm feels fractured or something, my head's still acing, and everything feels bruised from fighting the invisible ninjas like a n00b . . . el oh el? :) But it was awesome.

Dimmu Borgir was great! They played all the songs I wanted to hear, and their performance was amazing . . . organ and all. Hellhammer even had a drum solo, which was fucking cool. Though, I think I would have enjoyed their set more, but I was so tired that after about four songs into their set (me being way in the front around the chaos) my friend Mike advised me to just go sit down. So he boosted me and I crowd surfed out of there and took a seat in the back, almost passing out a few times.

Right now, I can't even begin to decribe my reluctance to go back to school . . . or to do anything right now, at that (if you know the aftereffects of being "active" at a show, then you know the feeling). But all in all . . . the show was great. :)

-Phoenix

From what I hear, Necrophagist will be on a headlining tour called the Summer Slaughter Tour 2007. I'm fucking stoked about this tour, not just for Necrophagist, but for the awesome lineup, which includes Decapitated, Cephalic Carnage, Cattle Decapitation, Arsis, Ion Dissonance, Beneath the Massacre, The Faceless, and As Blood Runs Black. This is one of the best fucking lineups I've seen in a while! I love every band on it! I can't wait until all the dates are released and I hope that there's one in Jersey or in New York.

-Phoenix

Priestess was pretty good, decent rock 'n' roll band, didn't really fit in with the show though. Converge did awesome, their pits were crazy and I enjoyed them. Mastodon, of course, stole the whole damn show. They played all of my favourite songs, except for Seabeast. All in all... it was awesome, I took some pictures and videos too.

-Phoenix

Yup, I shall be attending it this Thursday at Nokia Theater, New York City. Unearth is headlining, along with Bleeding Through, Terror, Through the Eyes fo the Dead, and Animosity! I've seen Through the Eyes of the Dead and Terror at Sounds of the Underground during the summer at Starland Ballroom (which, like last year's Starland Ballroom Sounds of the Underground, will be a DVD). I'm looking forward to seeing them again. I'm mostly looking forward to seeing Unearth, Bleeding Through, and Animosity, because I love all three of those bands and I've never seen them live. So, yeah . . . I'm going to have school that day, but I'll just cut my last period so we can go take the train to New York earlier. Doors open at 5:00.

Wish me luck in the pits.

-Phoenix
