02) 30/08/11 - The Menzingers w/ Make Do and Mend, Leagues Apart @ The Social
Regret that I missed The Menzingers at their Glasgow show last year, i was determined to see them this year although there were no Scottish shows. Therefore, I travelled down to London and Manchester for the first time by myself and had the time of my life.

They played the song I had requested. The song that makes me well up everytime. That is my hand you can see waving about in the below video! Matt also held my hand and sang to me during Terrible Love. What a night!

04) 09/02/11 - The Hold Steady w/ Wintersleep @ O2 ABC
Couldn't find a video of this from the Glasgow show. This was the song that made that night what it was for me. My knees almost buckled! It was a great show up until the final song of the encore. Then I thought I heard the opening chords to Killer Parties. I didn't want to get my hopes up though as that song makes my heart explode with happiness. Of course, Lis already knew what song was coming on and gave me a wee smile. Once Craig shut up, I was jumping up and down with a massive smile on my face. It was one of the best moments of my life.

Conor Oberst, John Hiatt, Ed Harcourt and Rhett Miller are the artist's I have become addicted to lately. My page doesn't reflect it; there is something wrong with my media player at the moment as it doesn't recognise some of the albums I listen to.

I've loved Bright Eyes for numerous years now but refused to look into Conor's solo stuff until recently. Well I regret not getting into it sooner. Absolutely amazing stuff. I think what draws me to Oberst is his lyrical content. There is something incredibly uplifting about listening to words of helplessness and despair! Fair enough his days in Bright Eyes are when he wrote his darkest lyrics but I still enjoy Conor solo.

Favourite track heard so far: Milk Thistle

John Hiatt was an artist I ashamedly discovered a little over a month ago whilst searching for similar artists to Bob Dylan. Since I heard Go Down Swingin' I have been hooked. I simply love the passion in his voice. I have since bought Bring The Family and Master Of Disaster but plan on buying the rest of his back catalogue as soon as I get the cash.

Favourite song heard so far: Learning How To Love You

Ed Harcourt is a musician who I got into through Jango. It is amongst the best discovery I have ever made on a music site. He reminds me of a modern Tom Waits aside from Ed is British! Until Tomorrow Then was that magnificent heart rendering track that got me [thankfully] trapped into the world of Ed Harcourt.

Favourite track heard so far: The Last Cigarette

It's not often an artist like Rhett Miller comes along. You know; the kind who's music goes straight to your soul and sends shivers everywhere in your body. I originally heard of Miller years ago when I was introduced to a track called Come Around. I loved this track but never bothered looking into Miller's back catalogue and he dropped off my radar. However, within the past few months he has came back up from the depths of nowhere and he has taken hold of my heart with his emotive music and is refusing to let go. I have listened to his self titled album so much recently I've almost worn the CD out.
