Well it's July, so it's time for me to have a look at my five favourite albums of the year to date.

Natalia Kills - Perfectionist

Without a doubt, this is my favourite album of 2011 so far. Natalia Kills is just amazing, I'm so in love with her, she's my current av. Every single song on this album is brilliant. It's dark, it's edgy, it's dancey, it's poppy, it's everything I want in an album. It will be hard to top this! I have a major girl crush on Natalia.

Lady Gaga - Born This Way

Ahhh Gaga. How I love you. Gaga is the only artist I'd even slightly considering buying an album of on the day it's released. In fact, I preordered this album! I have the deluxe edition and it's fabulous. Gaga can do no wrong and this album is up to par as usual. It's full of great tracks and I can't wait to see some of them live on her next tour!

黒木メイサ - MAGAZINE

Before this, I'd only heard Meisa's EP ATTITUDE. Out of curiosity, more then anything else I downloaded MAGAZINE. And people, it's absolutely brilliant. One of the best J-pop releases of 2011. Every song is great and the album is one of those you can listen to right through without skipping anything.

Sirens - #3 - Opium Apathy

The most obscure album here, but this is an absolute corker. This is the third album by Newcastle girlband Sirens. Their material is absolutely brilliant, and this album is no exception. It's a new direction for them, moving more into the dance-pop territory but it's still as good as ever!

Sky Ferreira - AS IF!

This is a bit cheating, cos this is only an EP. BUT! This is such a good EP, I had to put it in! I have high hopes for Sky, cos if her EP is this good, imagine a full length album!! Every single song on this EP is amazing!!

I heard about from Popstars: The Rivals but thought they looked like bitches just from one picture of them in Smash Hits magazine xD But after awhile I got curious cos people kept raving about No Good Advice, saying how good it was, so I downloaded it. The rest is history!

Why the hell have you listened to them so much?
Cos they've been my favourite band since 2003 pretty much, and they've released three studio albums since I signed up to Last.FM which got hammered.

I was bored one day and I was looking at Wikipedia articles and I came across one about J-pop, and I thought it sounded like my kinda thing so I checked out the top selling J-pop artists and the best selling is of course, Ayu!

Her music spans every genre you can think of, her voice is awesome, her songs are catchy and amazing, she's a sweetheart to her fans and she's just amazing! Ayu ♥

1. How did you get into 29? Anna Tsuchiya
I think I saw her either on a blog or on a LJ community and thought she looked fascinating. Her music was described as a mixture of rock and pop, so I thought that was interesting too.

2. What was the first song you ever heard by 22? The Simpsons
Can't possibly say, considering I've been watching The Simpsons since I was 8 years old.

3. How many albums by 13 do you own? Lady Gaga
I have the edition of The Fame Monster with both Monster and The Fame as part of it, and I also have The Remix too. So I guess I have three albums by her.

4. What is your favorite song by 15? 木村明美
This guy makes the soundtracks to the Ace Attorney games, so they're all amazing xD But my favourite is Lock on The Heart (Psyche Lock).

5. What is your favorite song by 5? 倖田來未
Ooh hard one! Kuu has so many amazing songs!! If I was forced to pick, I'd probably go for Love goes like... though.

Loads! Five have loads of happy songs, but a particular fave is Got the Feelin' - it never fails to put a smile on my face!

Well, Britney has soooo many songs, it's hard to pick just one! But I'd go for Unusual You, as it's a wonderful track and has some of her best lyrics to date.

Just hearing her first album, as it's one of my favourite albums ever, and not one track on it is bad.

He's the man behind most of the WWE's entrance themes, so of course! Many, many themes make me smile, but I think I'll pick Sexy Boy, which is Shawn Michaels' theme. Shawn sings it, but I tagged it as Jim as he produced it. It's so cute and makes me so happy!

LOL, he's only in here cos I hammered the instrumental of 21 Questions. I usually can't stand him, so none xD

5 year anniversary of LastFM!

Today is the marking of the fifth year I've been on LastFM! I joined on September 11, 2005, and today is September 11, 2010. Yay!

How have things changed since my 4th anniversary in 2009?

Well, this time last year I'd listened to 98,000 songs. As of today I have 125,472 plays. I hit 100k since then and then some ♥ I hit 100k not long after last year's anniversary on September 28th.

Now let's have a look at my overall artists since 2005:

06. Atomic Kitten (3,858 plays)

The most obvious change here is the addition of Ayumi Hamasaki to my TOP 3!! Finally a newer artist breaks that seemingly impossible to break top three, and kicks the Sugababes back to #4. Ayu's plays have just SHOT up over the last couple of years, last year she was on almost 3k plays, now she's over halfway to 6k.

Other changes are that Girls Aloud, my eternal #1, are 5 plays from 12,000! We see milestones for Blue, Sugababes, Five, Spice Girls and Britney. Rihanna finally makes it to 2k plays as well.

My top 10 is finally not British exclusive - they are still the majority though, only Ayu, Britney and Rihanna aren't British.

In the rest of the top 50, we see huge rises from my other two fave J-pop girls, 安室奈美恵 and 倖田來未, who rise to #14 and #15 respectively, from #28 and #30. They both passed 1000 plays, and are on their way to 1500 each. Lady Gaga is another huge riser, she is now #26, after not even being in the top 50 this time last year. BONNIE PINK, who was new at #42 last year, rises to #33, while Anna Tsuchiya is new at #44. J-pop is slowly and surely taking over my chart!!

I now have 29 artists on 1000 plays or more, and a further four on 900+. My #50 is on 615 plays, so you need 616 plays to make it into the top 50 as of today.

The biggest change in the top tracks is that my #1 song, Don't Dream It's Over, has passed the 1000 play mark, with 1,023 plays, up from 942 last year. It hit 1000 plays on April 16th this year. The rest of the top 10 remains unchanged.

Let's look at my top artists for 2009 - 2010:

Strong plays for my top 10 here, nobody under 600 plays. Ayu is WAY out ahead with a 1,142 play advantage over GA!! But GA have a 691 advantage over the Spice Girls at #3. I'm also interested to see the gap between Namie and Koda further down the chart.

As for 6 month and 3 month charts, the top 3 is the same as the year chart, with a trifecta of Ayu, GA and Spices. Blue and Britney round out the top 5 in both charts, but interestingly, they switch places on both - Blue are #4 on the 3 month chart, but #5 on the 6 month!

It's been an interesting year of music, and pretty much dominated by Ayu and GA. GA are very soon to hit 12k, and Ayu is on her way to 6k and passing Blue into the #2 spot.

Randomisty about my charts

I was just looking at my charts, and looking at my top 20 songs for each artist, and I noticed some interesting things:

Girls Aloud

- Both of Cheryl's solo b-sides are inside my top 20 most played (History and Crazy Fool), so this proves I really do love Chezza <3
- My #1 is See The Day, which is probably one of the least popular GA tracks ever. But I adore it.
- Chemistry is easily the most played GA album for me - 10 songs in my top 20 are from it! That's the entire album minus Long Hot Summer, It's Magic and No Regrets.
- What Will The Neighbours Say? is represented by two songs (Love Machine and Hear Me Out), Tangled Up by also two (Girl Overboard and Sexy! No, No, No...) but Sound Of The Underground has only one (Everything You Ever Wanted and Out Of Control has none (Untouchable is closest, it's 25th). The Sound Of Girls Aloud also has two tracks in the top 20 (Loving Is Easy and Singapore).
- That leaves three b-sides - from the No Good Advice, Wake Me Up and Whole Lotta History singles.

Blue

- Two of the tracks in my top 20 I no longer have due to losing them in a computer change. So I have to extend the top 20 to 22 to get all valid tracks.
- The b-side and rarities album 4ever Blue has four tracks in the chart, the most.
- As for their albums, All Rise has two songs (Back Some Day and Bounce), One Love has three (Get Down, Privacy and Supersexual), Guilty has three (Back It Up, I Wanna Know and Where You Want Me) whereas Best Of Blue has three (Curtain Falls, Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm Yours and Best In Me (2004)).
- Two b-sides are contained in my chart - Love RIP and 4 Play.
- The chart also has one remix - If You Come Back (8 Jam Streetmix).
