And in other news, I've managed to procure The Killers' new CD free of charge from the radio station. Pitchfork may not like it, but I think I do. Pitchfork just hates any band that more than two people listen to--pretentious. But at the same time, I appreciate their news section and also general savviness.

Regina Spektor...her voice reminds me of Bjork or Emiliana Torini, and I like it a lot. Her piano playing, too, it works very very well. The song "Samson" is really pretty. "The Flowers" has lyrics that I LOVE.

But holy CRAP. So many of her songs, I'm listening to them, and I'm like, "This is good; I like this a lot!" Then she does something that really pisses me off. Like, she goes off into I'm-playing-with-a-toy-racecar noises like it's some instrument ("Lounge"). Or she whispers the same lyrics after she's just sung them ("Ode to Divorce"). And the track "Whisper" isn't even a song at all, and I hate when people do that.

I'm sure that she does it all to make a point, for the sake of art, or something. But she reminds me so much sometimes of Maureen's "performance art" in RENT, and how absolutely annoying I find it.

So, I listen to The Beatles a lot, and The Amalgamates, but I definitely listen to The Decemberists a whole lot more. A week ago, Audioscrobbler told me that I'd listened to the Beatles 2000 times, and the Amalgamates 1,800 times.

No, I definitely haven't.

Then it fixed itself a little bit, and apparently I listened to the Beatles and the Amalgamates negatively a LOT because I'm down to 800-something for the Beatles and 660 for the Amalgamates.

But I haven't even listened to them that much!

If I've only listened to the Decemberists, my favourite band 380 times and The Engine Driver, my favourite song, 55 times, how could I have listened to the Beatles 800-something times without noticing? How could I have listened to Drive, the Amalgamate's a capella cover of the Cars' song, which is not a song I even like all that much?

My parents didn't leave my iTunes on, and, besides, both my laptop and my desktop computer go to sleep (and pause everything) after twentyish minutes.

So I am very confused.]]>
