So, I went to this gig on my own, which is always good for a laugh. The only ands I've seen at Pressure Point before had been mates bands (who are both very good) but it was exciting going to see a band (who in my eyes at least) were too big to play that little enue, although I did actually get a ticket on the door...

Anyway, first band on were Cry For Silence who I desperately wanted to dislike, and yes I do have a reason. I saw them at the first Give It A Name fest a couple of years ago at Alexandra Palace, and Fightstar were playing, my friends and I saw the lead singer from Cry For Silence by the merch, and he was pretty much just slagging Fightstar off, which I on't mind, well I do, but everyone's entitled to their opinions, but he was blatantly being two-faced cos later he gave them a shout-out, in summary, what a cock. But I can't hate their music, they played a solid if unspectacular set, and as I don't know any of their songs I couldn't tell you what they played, but they're well worth checking out.

Second up were Drop Dead, Gorgeous, who I'd listened to a couple of times, and thought they were pretty average on CD, but live they blew me away. During one song there was this sick breakdown with three guitars all shredding away, which made the hairs on the back of the neck go, and also gave me a shit-eating grin. I probably would've pitted if the pit wasn't full of juvenile cunts.

Aha, so these juvenile pricks started a 'pit' at the beginning of Drop Dead, Gorgeous set, but they were being pricks about it, jumping into people with full pints, they spilled pretty much my whole pint, but I realise this happens at gigs, and got over it, another guy though took exception and started flicking his lit cigarettes at this kid. Later on during From Autumn To Ashes set, the lead singer saw this guy flick his cigarette, and refusd to play anymore until this guy left, we waited about 5 minutes and then he left.

All the while through the evening, anybody whol started moving or even hinted at starting a pit were harassed by the security and if they carried on got kicked out, so a few people got kicked out, and the lead singer noticed this too, he got pissed off, said he was playing one more song, and told us to all go fucking mental cos they couldn't kick us all out at the same time, the last song was fucking wicked, but otherwise I thought they sounded pretty average, but fuck that, it's the most drama I've ever seen at a gig, and it was pretty funny.

I thought I might write a little about this gig. In one word it was amazing. Very rarely do all things come together for one gig so perfectly. I am currently at the pinnacle of liking this band, the homeymoon period if you will, and the amount of times you catch a band live at the very moment you are most infatuated with them is very rare indeed. The live set-up was pretty interesting, with the 2 ladies playing qwerty keyboards strapped around themselves, plugged into laptops, I've never seen such a thing. The drummer giving it all a much needed bass driven backbone, and then the vocalist being awesome. I wasn't sure how he'd cope with hitting all the high notes live, but he did, and admirably too. The atmosphere was quality with the majority being there for a dance and a good time, and not even the presence of some annoying 14 year old 'scenecore' kids could dampen my spirits, apparently :( just weren't 'core' enough for them, or perhaps they weren't 'scene' enough. These are the same kids who had stood with arms folded wtaching the earlier heavier bands, and maybe moving once every song for a bit of flailing arm/elbow action, before returning to their stand around looking cool ways. Now I love heavy music, but what is that about? If a music doesn't want to make me move, it's no good to me, fucking posing pricks.

Also I have to mention one of the support acts especially Missconduct wjo were a female fronted pop-punkish band, who were very entertaining, and in the front lady have a very captivating and charismatic focal point. Think Karen O with more alcohol, and an even more in your face attitude.
