I initially intended this to be something like "top 10", but it's just way too difficult to pick the best.


- Paradise Lunch - Guns's & Roses

Apparently a one-off artist for the anime "Baccano", but I would definitely like to see more albums from Paradise Lunch. Great smooth jazzy tunes.


- Haruko Momoi - COVER BEST -Cover Densha-

Haruko Momoi, still going strong after the breakdown of Under 17. This album contains covers of some of my all time favorite anime songs, like Tom Cat's "Tough Boy"

- Onmyouza - Maou Taiten

Japanese metal with some folk elements. Can it get better?


- The Best of Gazen ParaPara & We Love TechPara

Just a totally awesome collection of the greatest eurobeat and techpara tracks


- Love Para2 Presents Star Fire Best

Farm records just somehow manages to collect all the best songs on their albums (VIP Mega Euro Star series, anyone?). A great mix of old songs (Alphaville!?) and new songs.


- Timo Rautiainen - Loppuun Ajettu

In late 2007, I had began looking into finnish metal, and Timo Rautiainen with his songs "Outolintu" and "Kansalaispoliisi" is one of my favorites. This album contains those and a bunch of other good ones, so it deserves a place in this list.


- DJ Sharpnel - Running All Night

DJ Sharpnel at his best. Exactly what I had come of expect from him: Hardcore with great use of anime samples.


- MOSAIC.WAV - Future-fiction Akiba-pop

Absolutely great vocals and synth. Call my taste weird, but I love this album.


- Turisas - The Varangian Way

To Holmgard and Beyond kicks ass.



Here we see my quite wide taste in music again: From the japanese weirdness/cuteness of MOSAIC.WAV and DJ Sharpnel to some heavier aspects of Timo Rautiainen or Onmyouza. Namely, Double Dragon.

Listen to Black Fire at around 3:40 and listen for the guitar. Now, listen to the theme from Double Dragon...

Notice a striking similarity in the melody? Is Dragonforce stealing from old school games?

I don't think so - It's probably a funny coincidence or perhaps a band member is a fan of the game.

Italodisco, Hi-nrg... Do I need to say more? Plus they have cheesy commercials!

2. Radio Stad Den Haag
Italodisco, Hi-nrg... Do I need to say more? No cheesy commercials here, thus second.

3. Radio Rock
Web stream of a finnish radio station. The only "traditional" radio station that I even bother listening to, actually. Stream link, since it might be difficult to find for non-finns.

4. Hardrave.jp
Station owned and ran by DJ Sharpnel & Co. That and the station name should explain why it's great.

5. Digitally Imported

Don't expect a schedule though.


So let's begin with The Cherry Coke$, which is totally awesome.

The Cherry Coke$ play really energetic pop/rock with Irish folk elements.

Combine a banjo, a bagpipe, etc. and rock/pop music... It probably sounds like a really bad combination, but I definitely like it! I can't think of any other artist that have a similar style to this band.

Take their song "Hell Bound Train" as an example... Where you would traditionally hear the lead guitar, you get a bagpipe (or something like it, I'm not exactly a bagpipe expert)!


This is pretty cool stuff, so check it out!
