everyone was dope.
The venue, the irish center (right down the street from my house :) :) ) was great, super great space, a chill room with the lights on, free coat-checking, good sound, good lights, big dancefloor, good vibes, AMAZING sets from everyone. produced by spirits of change. i had a great time!!
HOWEVER i lost a strip of acid on the bathroom floor :( i looked for it for awhile but i had to get to dancing...i hope someone found it and ate it.

Don't get me wrong, it wasn't terrible, I liked it, but as a long time mtb lover I expect better energy & more energy.

jazzam was good as hell as they always are
theywere really rocking out.they have sounded so so good lately.
then lotus came on. ok i've been to a fair few shows. and this was one of the best, maybe the best ever. lotus just rocked my face offfff. i was having such a good time. they are soooo good. they jam so wellll. they just go on and on and on and it's all so good and it just keeps going and wowwwwinggg you. and everyone was dancing! suchhhhhh amazing dance music. so happy and groovy and flowy and ecstatic and joyyy! exuberant impassioned fantasticcc. couldn't even believe it.

Girl Talk equals this guy Greg Gillis who is from my city, Pittsburgh. The style of his music is called mashup usually if i am correct, and he splices and dices alll kind of different songs and puts the pieces together into new songs. I think his album Night Ripper has about 150 + samples on it.
This dude is insane. I think all of his arrangements are practically perfect. Cause he really does amazingly mesh hip hop, rap, pop, techno, trance, dance, rock, classic hits, grunge even all together into these crazy songs with his crazy DJ skills and sweet beats that are sooo good and addictive. Gillis has an insane sense of balance in music and what will sound good--all of his songs make me think, oh man this is so good why didn't anyone think of that particular combination before this???! His songs simply WORK.
His vast array of influences and sample sources is quite formidable.. in my favorite, Smash Your Head, he layers Notorious B.I.G and Elton John-- a sqeaky voiced version of Tiny Dancer of all things, on top of a basic drumbeat. And it works so well.
On Hold Up the beginning of the song is basically centered around the infamous beginning of Where Is My Mind, a little distorted, and around this also samples In Da Club. Then nearing the ending you are treated to a sped-up, techno-ized, yet mild and coasting, version of Laffy Taffy.
Minute by Minute is pretty funny. It starts out with Lil John... and then in the middle has got this strummy one-two-three for thing and then-- the whistles from There It Go which it liberally samples and modifies for another thirty seconds.
Hand Clap is like this crazy dance party... in the beginning it's just treble and a beat and all that, and then there comes a well placed sample of Baby Got Back. It then finds Gwen Stefani with a sped up squeaky sweet groovin beat underneath [track artist=gwen stefani]hollaback girl[track].
Hand Clap is infectious and dancey and good mood-y.. It mainly consists of Kryptonite, offset extremely well by the undertones of, oh, is that Nirvana?? Then there comes a sweet techno-to-trumpet beat thing goin on under the choruses of "bounce that" and Kryptonite mixed. Oh my, and then Britney Spears makes a brief but distinct appearance in the end of the song, which culminates with a Kelis-sample-laced Ludacris rap, which is really the shit.
And then there is that piano riff from California which makes an appearance on Too Deep.. It's a fun game to try to recognize what songs the samples are from :)

Wow that was pretty long. But in conclusion, girl talk is the bee's knees. Go and listen.
