morna 的音樂元素參雜著 fado，morna 音樂聽來較熱鬧。

morna 音樂伴奏通常採用絃樂隊編制，常見樂器是吉他、小提琴、貝司，加上鋼琴，偶爾出現手風琴，最具特色的樂器是葡萄牙四絃琴 Cavaquinho，還有十二弦低音吉他。現在常用樂器則擴增小號、薩克斯風、電吉他、單簧管、鋼琴、電子合成樂器等。morna 音樂除了曲調感傷外，最大的特色在每一首歌曲都是獨立的詩篇。

世界音樂 world Music 之后 Cesária Évora 就是以家鄉(非洲 cape verde)音樂 morna 為基礎，加上具有特色的非洲節奏，融合巴西的 samba，用那獨特原始的嗓音成名於法國後走紅全球。

smooth jazz 嚴格的說它並不能算做爵士樂的一種流派，它只是融合爵士（fusion）一個分支。因為 smooth jazz 樂風流暢而甜美，我們暫且可以稱之為「甜爵士」，以和爵士樂的一些風格比如「涼爵士」（cool jazz）、 「熱爵士」 hot jazz ）和「酸爵士」（acid jazz）等相對應。

smooth jazz 的通俗旋律比 acid jazz 更易親近。

smooth jazz 早期主要用於電影配樂及其他背景音樂。smooth jazz 樂風細膩、層次豐富而富有想像力，這如同古典音樂中的浪漫派，而它的音樂畫面變幻而不確定性，這也如同繪畫中的印象派。

一種融合了 jazz、soul、funk、hip hop、breakbeats 與 latin Grooves 等元素的音樂。 沒錯， 它保有了爵士樂中"即興"與"原創"的 Free Form(自由形態)精神， 所以並沒有很多的限制。 雖然如此， 它還是有很多特徵。

第一：它的節奏通常是以 breakbeat 為主， 有時也會有拉丁節奏(如Afro-Cuban)。

第二：它有 hip hop 的 Loop 概念， 所以您會發現每一首曲子其實都是幾個小節的 Chord 或是 Pattern 在 Repeat。

第三：沒有什麼 vocal 在歌曲裡， 有人聲出現的話通常都是幾個 Phrase 而已， 而且可能都是取樣機(Sampler)放出來的。

第四：就像一般的爵士樂， 通常會有一， 兩種樂器負責歌曲旋律的進行， 有時也會有即興的表演。 最後， Acid Jazz通常帶有 70 年代的 Funk Groove 味道(Funk Guitar and Bass產生的律動)。

"Manhã de Carnaval" 的作曲家及演奏者 - Luiz Bonfá 是一位激起 "Bossa Nova" 音樂潮流的人物，Bonfá 巴西人, 從小就是一個 "self-taught guitar player",直到12歲時, 才開始跟隨老師學習古典吉他，40年代期間,他開始參加 radio shows 的演出,並且加入了 Quitandinha Serenaders 等團體，但在幾年後,他結束了團體形式的演奏方式,選擇當一個 solo guitarist，Bonfá 在1953 年以作曲成名, 後來錄製了 "Orfeu da Conceição" 電影配樂，其中 "Manhã de Carnaval"(嘉年華清晨)便成為舉世知曉的電影名曲，這是一部在1959年由巴西與法國合作的電影，也是一部由 Vinícius de Moraes 執導的電影《Orfeu Negro》，英文片名為《Black Orpheus》(黑人奧菲鄔)，而導演 " Vinícius de Moraes" 則是 Bonfá 生命及事業中的 milestone，(關於 "Vinícius de Moraes" 則又有一段神奇的故事)，華麗的吉他聲以及開朗的個性是 Bonfá 的註冊商標，Bonfá 在美國居住多年, 並發表了許多在巴西沒有發表的專輯，70年代之後, 他由 "music festival routines" 轉向 "jazz"，並與許多知名藝人共同演出，他的其他作品還有 "De Cigarro em Cigarro", "Correnteza", "The Gentle Rain", "Menina Flor", "Mania de Maria"...等。有人將這首歌用西班牙文填上詞，，英文版的翻譯：

風行於70年代到80年代的　funk　音樂，屬於黑人音樂的一種類型，從傳統的靈魂樂演變而來，其主要特徵為合成器彈奏略帶俗氣的旋律、肥厚的貝斯旋律線、以及最容易辨識的一種強烈律動感。

談到Funk，不能不提到的就是「放克教父」James Brown　詹姆斯布朗（同時也被尊為「靈魂樂教父」，可見黑人音樂類型之相生相承關係與　James Brown　在黑人音樂史上的超級經典地位），除了　James Brown　外，時常在廣告中聽聞的超級單曲『I Got You（I Feel Good）』也是 James Brown　的代表作品，這裡聽到的是台灣歌手金祖齡翻唱的版本；另一支70年代放克代表樂團 The Kool & The Gang，與Funk氣味也十分濃厚的後生晚輩 Jamiroquai 傑米羅奎爾合作的一首作品『Hollywood Swingin'』；此外還有後來光從外表已經看不出黑人血統的流行樂之王 Michael Jackson 從他的歌曲中可以聽出他也受 funk 元素不少影響。
