Well, I figured it was a rumour thatBoa would be releasing her sixth Korean album in June of this year. It seemed too soon, to me at least. But I think it's about time. I may be in the minority with this, but I think BoA's Korean material is better overall. Some of her older Japanese work, may be better for me, because I thought she sounded the same genre- wise in either language. I prefer the more urban sound she has in the Korean market. Her newer tracks on the 'MADE IN TWENTY' album just was plain unappealing. Then 'Sweet Impact' was too safe for me, though it's catchy at times. And I think she needs to get back in the Korean market, since she hasn't done that much in awhile.

In short, I'm looking forward to anything BoA releases that's not Japanese. Yeah.

I've noticed that not too many people are fond of glitter by 浜崎あゆみ. But was anybody really expecting anything that good? Not as far as I can tell. I'd think 'fated' was abit more of a let down, even though it's somewhat growing on me. I did want to compare her two previous summer singles with glitter, but I'd rather wait until the covers are released. Whenever that happens..

Then there's 倖田來未 with FREAKY. It's ok. I haven't listened to it that many times. But it's a bit more urban than what I was expecting, which is a good thing. I'd seen enough of Kumi trying out pop. Run For Your Life is okay, it gets annoying at some parts, but I don't find it as irksome as the other two tracks. As it's been said before 'girls' sounds like a copy of 'With your smile' which never appealed much to me. And I just find 'Sora' just plain boring. Maybe the remixes can save this single, since it seems the songs failed to impress.Though alot of people never expected this to be anywhere as good as 4 hot wave. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

But one release that people seem to like is Namie Amuro's new album 'PLAY'. I haven't taken the chance to listen to the tracks that have been recently released.

Outside of the JPop bubble, ガゼット is releasing their new album on July 4th. With this seemingly darker look, I'm a bit more intrigued than I was before. And since there have been comparisons with Dir en grey for the longest, I actually took compared the two, and even though there was some similarities, I still don't see how they are that much alike.

And since my summer trip has been cancelled, there's a good chance I could purchase one or more of these...preferably the albums.

I plan to listen to alot more artists in the forseeable future. Ayu's tiring me, Kumi probably tiring herself with her releases, I'm in no mood for Gazette or Gackt. So I felt like listening to more of my lesser played artists, as well as new ones(as in artists I'm not fond of). And a few of them just happened to be on my recommendations.

There's my venture into Tomoko Kawase musical alter egos Tommy february6, and Tommy heavenly6. They were both pretty much what I expected, which isn't too bad of a thing. Though february6 was a bit disappointing, for some reason I expected alot more variation, that didn't seem to be there.

melody. - Well not too much to say about her, her voice is fairly nice, clear. I tend to find artists like her quite boring, like Yuna Ito for example.

Kagrra, - I'd always heard alot about them, and even though I felt they were pretty good, nothing had really convinced me to really get into their music. But after listening to their most recent work, it was hypnotic, and trance enducing. Very calming, but it wasn't all over lapping in sound. But I was quite impressed , and I'm glad I tried them again.

I find it more than bizarre how often I listened to AAA that last week. It still somewhat mystifies me. I'm noto ne to listen to a group like them, but somehow there were infectiously catchy. BLOOD on FIRE, 最強Babe きれいな空, were particularly my favorite tracks. I've been thinking about their longevity, pondering whether they'll disband after the next album. I mean there's been ATTACK, ALL, CCC - Challenge Cover Collection, not counting their mini/remix albums. So, maybe there would be room for a few compilations if they do indeed disband after another album. If I gave them something that was too out there, they may just consider me even stranger beyond previous belief.

Well, I finally listened to a full radio rip of Utada Hikaru's Kiss & Cry, and I'm glad I did, since the preview didn't impress me much. That sampling sounded like the newage 80's synth pop (a bit of an oxymoron huh?) that had been working for a while, but had gone flat like a bottle of root beer left out for too long. Also, it made her vocals sound strained. In the radio rip, I was definitely surprised to hear such a strong bass beat in the beginning. In stead of sounding like a continuation of Ultra Blue, it took on a sound a bit more reminiscent of Exodus and Deep River. Seriously, in the carry over between the verses and the chorus, it sounds like Hotel Lobby, exactly like it. But I'm not complaining, since Hotel Lobby was one of the few songs of Exodus that I genuinely liked.

I've heard some fans say that it sounds like she's returning to her roots. I wouldn't agree completely, since it doesn't have all the R&B elements of Distance or First Love. As stated earlier, it sounds to me like Ultra Blue, Deep River and Exodus thrown into a blender, and actually coming out with something decent. Though it sounds good, I'm not going to give it an overdose of praise. 宇多田ヒカル
