The struggle is to stay with what originally defined them and their sound or to change through maturity and experiementation to a new and sometimes completely different sound. Few, I think, can do this really well, Radiohead comes to mind. For a great many others I just become dissappointed and wonder why they took their music in "that" direction. Many bands such as the Arctic Monkeys on their new album, Humbug, for instance. Although Alex Turner's side project, Last of the Shadow Puppets I thought was well done. The Fratellis, Here we Stand, was disappointing as well. This just scratches the surface for me and of course I could be way off because I am no music critic, just a fan, but this is how I feel about it.]]>
