Posted on the Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra website.

Tatsuyuki Hiyamuta, alto sax, guitarist, and "agitate" man for Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra, has announced his decision to leave the band.

Citing his nagging foot injury, which he received from a motorcycle accident in 1996 in Thailand, Hiyamuta has decided to leave the band in order to receive further treatment on his foot. He's had several large operations, but the constant touring and travelling has hindered his recovery.

Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra have posted that they will continue on with just 9 people, rather than trying to replace Hiyamuta...which I personally think is a wise decision, because it would be almost impossible to replace Hiyamuta, who is one of the original members of Skapara since the 1980s.

Tis the season...and these are some tracks that get me into that Christmas-y feeling!

Christmas Ska - Also known as "JOY TO THE WORLD." When the song starts, with the horns blaring, it sounds like it could have come out of a church or concert hall, being played by an actual orchestra. Then the rest of the instruments come in, and you can't help but want to bob your head, or even possibly get up and dance. I find that this Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra cover THE best song to get into the mood.

Angels We Have Heard On High - I'm not the biggest fan of Brian Setzer Orchestra's two Christmas album...but there are a few songs that I really love, and this is one of them...great spin on a traditional song.

Everyday Christmas - I don't listen to much MU330 or ska-punk anymore, but every year, around this time, I always put on Winter Wonderland. "Everyday Christmas," the first track off that album is my absolute favorite song, since it puts off such a happy and vibrant mood that seems to fit this season really well.

The Destroyer - I don't think The Aggrolites intended this song to be a Christmas song, but the tune really does sound similar to Joy to The World...so it fits! I mean, with the organ, it just sounds even more like a Christmas song.

Run Run Rudolph - All I can say is that I love this song...nothing else I can really explain here.

Christmas Tree - King Stitt is toasting over a very catchy reggae tune, another one of those tunes where you just want to get up and dance, or at the very least bob your head.

Christmas Feeling Ska - Taken off the "Christmas Greetings from Studio One" album (one of the better reggae Christmas compilations), this The Maytals tune describes the holiday wonderfully.

A Little Christmas Gift - The horn intro starts off with the "Jingle Bells" tune. "Try giving somebody a little Christmas gift," the lyrics remind me of what Christmas really is about...the giving, rather than the receiving.

The Granville Williams Orchestra - Santa Claus is Ska-ing to Town - This is an instrumental version of the classic song, played by a little known ska band from the original era in Jamaica...it'll remind you of Christmas time when you were younger and you were singing this song in school.

That's all for now, but I'll be adding a few more onto the list!

And his singing while working there served notice that he had quite a voice.

He had one thing in common with other Jamaican artistes such as Jimmy Cliff and Derrick Morgan, Desmond Dekker was produced by Leslie Kong of Beverly records.

He formed his group the Aces, which at times included Wilson James and various siblings from the Howard family, including Barry, Carl, Clive, and Patrick.

After changing his professional name to Dekker, in 1967 he and the group recorded 007 (Shanty Town), which made it to ..14 on the UK chart.

In 1963 his first break came with the single "Honour your father.

In 1968 the group won the festival song competition with the single - Intensified. His second album was also titled Intensified.

Another hit followed with the Israelites, this reached number one on the English pop charts in 1969.

The death of his guide and mentor Leslie Kong in 1971 was a tragic blow.

Desmond eventually migrated to England where he later modified his music for the English market.

His many hits and concerts made him a star among the English youths, who were then discovering the rhythmic patterns of reggae and who would ultimately imitate his Jamaican "rude boy" style.

Desmond became one of the leading lights of the music scene in Jamaica until the end of the 1960s and was particularly inspired and productive between 1966 and 1970.

He continued to perform and record into the 90's. With his death - he has gone down in history as one of those who paved the way around the world with the infectious beat - serving notice that reggae music had arrived.

Truly, the world has lost a legend today.
