Saturday, 05 September 2009 at 14:00 |
Started the recording with Rory Bratwelll. We have been fans of his band Kasms and production work for sometime but we didn't know what to expect, as we had not worked with him before, you never really know about these things. Both of us were really nervous and the day started off ominously. Cab was late, we forgot some equipment in the car, so we had to pay twice. An argument ensued about who's fault it was etc etc, almost a spinal tap moment, so we were charged up and ready to explode. As always with us we never take things personally, we try not to allow any resentments or differences to fester, if theres a problem we let it out and move on. Well, thats the theory. So far we have recorded the backbone of 4 songs with vocals, drums, synth and guitar parts in 2 days. The idea is to get back in the studio middle september to see where we are with the tracks and then eventually mix them and record some more. Rory is great to work with as he gives you the confidence to open up musically without feeling any pressure or stress and facilitates rather than dictates the recording process. His expertise, flexibility, musicianship and work ethic keeps things progressing and moving on. The energy and attitude during the sessions was super intense and we approached things with total commitment, with many ideas bouncing around. We cant wait to get back.
