Om eerlijk te zijn was ik al een tijdje uitgekeken op het zogeheten Gothic Metal/Rock wereldje waar ik vroeger zo graag in vertroefde.
Maar toen Within Temptation met The Heart Of Everything kwam, werd ik er toch weer een beetje ingetrokken en zo kwam het dat ik bij hun laatste concert in de Melkweg een affice zag voor de CD Presentatie van My New Time. Nu had ik Autumn al meer dan een jaar niet live zien spelen dus mijn vriendin en ik besloten het nichtje van mijn vriendin een kaartje voor haar verjaardag te geven en er met z'n drietjes heen te gaan.
Ik had de dag zelf de CD even gedownload om te beluisteren wat ik kon verwachten. (Ja, achteraf hebben we ook de CD gekocht om die arme rockers van hun brood te voorzien!) Het eerste nummer wat ik hoorde was Satellites en ik was meteen verkocht. (Het is nu mijn favoriete nummer van My New Time.)
My New Time klinkt niet zoals je van Autumn verwacht als je hun eerdere CDs stukgedraaid hebt, maar het is een heel andere geluid, hoewel je meteen hoort dat het Autumn is.

Het voorprogramma was niet bepaald slecht, hoewel de nummers naar mijn mening te lang duurden en de bassist (waar wij recht voor stonden) vals zong.

Autumn begon al met Satellites en had meteen de aandacht van de hele zaal met hun dynamische podiumkunsten.
De mannen met hun lange haren, woest aan het headbangen en rammend op hun gitaren zoals een echte man betaamt.
En dan Nienke... Ik moet eerlijk zeggen dat Autumn de enige band is in het genre Gothic Metal/Rock die ik ken die een zangeres heeft die gewoon met haar (zeer appetijtelijke) kont(je) staat te schudden op deze muziek.
Ik kan niet anders zeggen dan "BRAVO!"

Ik heb genoten van het nieuwe geluid, maar ook van de gouwe ouwen, van de grapjes en praatjes tussendoor van Nienke (en de champagne die ze over andere mensen heenspoot hehe), van de stageperformance, van het frisse enthousiasme van de band, van de vriendelijkheid van de bandleden achteraf, dus mijn avond kon niet meer stuk.

Autumn houdt mijn aandacht vast, trekt me echt het concert in, en dat maak ik persoonlijk niet zo vaak meer mee.

Misschien dat mensen nu op Autumn zijn afgeknapt omdat ze nu meer in de richting van rock gaan, maar zoals Nienke al zei: Hoe je het beestje ook noemt, het blijft muziek!

Ladytron is the support act for the Nine Inch Nails tour. I almost got a ticket, but then I didn't because I had to go by myself, without friends. And the ticket was very expensive.
If I knew they were the support act I would have gone anyway!
