Toro y Moi + Ryan Hemsworth at Koko, London on 4 Jun 2013

Location: Koko

TORO Y MOI

Born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina, 24-year-old Chaz Bundick (aka Toro Y Moi) has been toying with various musical projects since early adolescence. Having spent his formative years playing in punk and indie rock acts, the protean Toro Y Moi project has been his vessel for further musical exploration since 2001. Toro Y Moi's third full-length, Anything in Return, puts Chaz Bundick right in the middle of the producer/songwriter dichotomy that his first two albums established. There's a pervasive sense of peace with his tendency to dabble in both sides of the modern music-making spectrum, and he sounds comfortable engaging in intuitive pop production and putting forth the impression of unmediated id.

Tickets for this show are priced at £12.50 and go on-sale on Friday 15th February at 9am from the follwing links: https://rockfeedback.ticketabc.com/events/toro-y-moi/ | http://www.wegottickets.com/event/209010

Antony and The Johnsons: Swanlights on 25 Jul 2013

Location: Royal Opera House

‘When I find the Swanlights, my eyes cry species, casting green and gold upon the black water.’

The Royal Opera House presents the first London performances of Antony and The Johnsons: Swanlights – a remarkable meditation on light, nature and femininity. Originally commissioned by New York’s Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), Swanlights enjoyed huge acclaim when it was presented at Radio City Music Hall in January 2012 and the 2012 Melbourne Festival.

The piece features songs from all four of Antony and the Johnsons’ albums – self-titled, The Crying Light, Swanlights and Mercury Prize-winning I am a Bird Now – and is backed by the Britten Sinfonia, with orchestral arrangements by Nico Muhly, Rob Moose and Maxim Moston. Light artist Chris Levine, lighting designer Paul Normandale, set designer Carl Robertshaw and lighting director Emma Westerberg collaborate on the evocative designs: ‘layered screen projections and lasers swept the darkened theater, gradually revealing the singer in these ethereal surrounds’ (Time Out New York).

Bestival 2013 on 5 Sep 2013

Location: Robin Hill

Bestival is an award winning 4 day boutique music festival set at Robin Hill – a beautiful leafy country park (a veritable Garden of Eden!) near Downend and Newport in the heart of the Isle of Wight.

Best Major Festival 2012
‘Fans’ Favourite Festival’ 2011
‘Best Major Festival’ 2010
‘Best Medium-Sized Festival’ 2009, 2007, 2006 & 2005
(UK Festival Awards)

The wonderful world of Bestival was born out of ten fun years of pioneering music events and record releases from Rob da Bank’s Sunday Best empire. The BBC Radio 1 leftfield DJ had a dream to one day create his vision of how the modern day festival should be. Along with Creative Director and wife Josie da Bank and co founders / partners John and Ziggy from Get Involved that dream is now fulfilled. On a mission to change the face of independent festival culture, the fearless foursome are bringing some magic to the shores of the Solent and spreading the love worldwide.

It’s Rob and Josie da Bank’s creative vision that sets Bestival apart. Whilst the massive musical brain of Rob ensures the Bestival line-up is the most eclectic you’ll ever experience, it’s Josie’s creative wand that casts its magic over Bestival land. From the most original boutique campsite experience, to the Bollywood Cocktail Bar, a Wishing Tree Stage, fancy dress en mass and even a Swamp Shack, it’s this uniqueness that makes Bestival a wondrous world of discovery and adventure that will inspire peace, love and dancing not only in September but all year round…
