UUUUUUUUUUUURGH!

Bon Jovi is a good band, they made very good songs and, when you look to the tracklist, you imagine this will be a good album. But it's completely the opposite.

It starts with a strange and horrible version for Wanted Dead or Alive with a boring guitar riff. Then you face a terrible version Livin' on a Prayer. The original song is probably one of their Top5, but this version is surely in Bottom5. This song makes you angry and want to push the stop button as fast as possible.

But, let's go on. Then you find miserable versions of Bad Medicine, It's My Life and Lay Your Hands on Me, where all the energy of these songs are lost and they're transformed into tasteless ballads.

You Give Love a Bad Name probably is the only good song in the album, as the blues version (even if worse than the original) is rather pleasant.

Then we go with Bed of Roses without its main feature (the opening guitar solo), more energyless versions of powerful songs (Everyday, Born to Be My Baby and Keep the Faith).

In the end, two songs which didn't change so much, the ever-tasteless I'll Be There for You and Always.

If you are a Bon Jovi fan or a rock'n'roll fan, avoid this album. If you just want calm and tasteless songs to play while you are driving that may be a good choice.

20 - The Beatles - If You've Got Trouble A great track that remained unreleased for many years, in favour of Act Naturally.
19 - Bee Gees - Claustrophobia Another obscure song from a very known artist. A very good and simple song with funny lyrics
18 - Teixeirinha - Coração de Luto A sad traditional song widely known as "Churrasquinho de mãe"(something like bbq made of my mom) because of the subject of the lyrics.
17 - David Guetta - Baby When the Light Since 2004, there is always some house songs in the list. This is one of them
16 - Dan W. Quinn - Ain't Dat A Shame Extremely old song, you can also hear white noise in the recording. But it sounds good and has a good piano instrumental par
15 - Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah Very good and sad song. The singer seems to be crying the lyrics
14 - Coconut Records - It's Not You It's Me It seems to be a happy song, but when you pay attention to the lyrics you discover it's not
13 - James Blunt - Same Mistake The best song that radio and television forced me to listen. Actually I like it (otherwise it wouldn't be here), despite being too cliché
12 - Paul McCartney - The World Tonight A song that I've forgotten for 10 years and re-discovered. It's an example that the good and old Macca still can make very good stuff
11 - Johnny Cash - Guess Things Happen That Way Cash was my "artist of the year" and this song shows a different point of view about a relationship's end
10 - The Rutles - Let's Be Natural The Rutles is a parody band, who imitates The Beatles. And their songs have the same level of quality of the originals. This Dear Prudence "lookalike" is their best song in my opinion.
09 - Komodor - 1988 This Komodor is a Turkish electronic music project. They've created a bunch of nice songs (using an old computer/videogame, if I understood it correctly) and this one talking about how life was 20 years ago is the best song of theirs.
08 - Frankie Laine - Bowie Knife A fantastic western song from Frankie. It has very good lyrics and is full of energy.
07 - Ten Years After - Working on the Road Pure classic rock song. Nice riffs, nice solo, nice voices, nice everything.
06 - Genesis - The Carpet Crawlers Although Genesis is not among my favourite bands, they have some songs I like very much. And, in 2008, I found this one, that is simply brilliant
05 - Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons - Searchin' Wind They are a band I used to dislike, because of their cliché songs (such as Can't Take My Eyes Off You) but since I discovered Beggin' last year, I've been liking their music more and more, including the cliché ones
04 - R.I.O. - Shine On Another House song. This is a very cool and enjoyable one and was a big hit for me, specially during the third quarter of the year
03 - Griffin - I Am The Noise In Your Head A very obscure psychedelic rock song that I discovered via Pandora while it was still possible to use it in my country
02 - Johnny Cash - (Ghost) Riders in the Sky I've already listened to some versions of this song, but Cash's is by far the best. It was also the song that opened my ears to Johnny Cash's work
01 - Camel - Lady Fantasy For a long year, a long song. Although long songs tend to be boring, it does not happen to this one. So good, so incredible that its almost 13 minutes pass like they were only 3. 19 - Marina Lima - Difícil This is the power of television, since it's not the kind of music that uses to appear in this kind of charts. There is an older version, but the new one, with more powerful guitars, is far better
18 - Alizée - Moi... Lolita I think tried to be the French Britney Spears of something like this. At least, she has a good song
17 - Serguei - Eu não volto mais A strange rock song with a funny ending
16 - Natalia Kukulska - Sexi Flexi When the year was about to finish I was caught by this cool Polish pop song
15 - Linkin Park - Don't Stay Although they launched a new album in 2007, the elder songs still are hits to me
14 - James Reese Europe - Castle House Rag A very cool big-band song from the first decades of the 20th century. It features many different parts, all of them really nice
13 - Jethro Tull - With You There to Help Me After some years, Jethro Tull is back on Top 20 with a extremely inspired piece
12 - Astor Piazzolla - Por una cabeza If 2006 featured fado, 2007 featured tango. It's an inspired instrumental version of a classic
11 - Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons - Beggin' The first time I listened to the remix I thought it was an awesome song. Then I discovered the original version, that is even better
10 - Fanarai - Nugaleti! A good noisy Lithuanian rock song
09 - White Town - Your Woman Last.fm's recommendations may fail sometimes, but they did it very well recommending me this song
08 - Test Icicles - Circle Square Triangle It was the main song for the beginning of the year. Very good indie rock song.
07 - Iron Butterfly - Unconscious Power This song was first recommended to me by the Pandora website (before laws made it not accessible from my country). After some months I got it in vinyl (and then in mp3) and could listen to it again.
06 - Luciano Pavarotti - Nessun Dorma It's a pity that Pavarotti died. And it's a pity that I took so long to discover this song. It's fantastic!
05 - The Beatles - I Want to Tell You It was the Beatles song for the year. For many years I've never given enough attention to this song.
04 - Mika - Grace Kelly Very nice and happy song. And it seems that Mika will become another one(maybe two)-hit wonder.
03 - Guillemots - Trains to Brazil A good song with a good message about life itself. It's said that the song is about the Brazilian killed by the police in England.
02 - Ronnie Von - Chega de Tudo The image I had of Ronnie Von that he was only a old singer singing outdated songs. But when I discovered his 1968 album, I completely changed my mind about him.
01 - Justin Timberlake - LoveStoned It was hard for me to admit that I liked songs from an "ex-boyband" guy. Due to the fact almost all the music I listened to that year was scrobbled to last.fm, the top20 is basically my last.fm's top20 for that year.
This top20 is not considered as retrospective, since it was made soon after 2006 was finished.

Here we are with the 20 most important songs for that year.

20 - The Beach Boys - Good Vibrations Very classic song of theirs. Very nice vocals.
19 - Ramones - Take It as It Comes It took me a long time to discover that it's actually a The Door's song. But both versions sound really good.
18 - Gene Vincent - It's No Lie In this year I made a Gene Vincent's revival. And this song was the most played then.
17 - Erika - Right or Wrong Every year features a dance song. That time was that song.
16 - Mafalda Arnauth - Quase Imortal It's FADO time. This song had been my #1 in Last.fm for months.
15 - Mondo Marcio - Dentro alla scatola It's Italian rap. This song provided lots of fun, altough not being about happy matters.
14 - The Beatles - You Never Give Me Your Money I think I had never given this song enough attention until that year
13 - Alessandro Moreschi - Ave Maria If the year before this song took #13 because of curiosity, in 2006 it got into the charts because of its quailty. And again the 13th.
12 - The Moody Blues - The Story in Your Eyes Moody Blues has many good songs. This is one of their best. It has much energy.
11 - Johnny Mathis - Misty Very beautiful ballad. I'm not an enthusiastic of jazz, but this song I recommend.
10 - The Knife - Silent Shout This song is very dark. The videoclip, very strange. But both are fantastic
09 - Bryan Ferry - Kiss and Tell This song is hard to explain, just listen and enjoy.
08 - The Beatles - The Word Another "re-discovered" Beatles' song.
07 - Muse - Supermassive Black Hole Very catchy rock song. When Muse decides not to sound like Radiohead, we always get good results.
06 - The Moody Blues - I'm Just a Singer (In a Rock and Roll Band) Another Moody Blues' song. This is a very powerful song with funny lyrics, possibly an answer to the social/political-engaged bands.
05 - Gnarls Barkley - Crazy In my opinion, the hit of 2006. I thought this band could do something else, but it was just another one-hit wonder
04 - Bee Gees - Craise Finton Kirk Royal Academy of Arts Very, very nice. Very, very nice.
03 - Irving Kaufman - Moe the Schmo Makes Love A funny and strange old song. It would be funnier if I could understand more than 30% of the lyrics
02 - Walter Franco - Zen I think one of the best Brazilian acts of this decade. I heard it only once in 2000 and loved it. In 2006, I re-discovered it.
01 - Earl Grant - The End It's a love song, but for me it sounds too sad. 18 - Linkin Park - One Step Closer Very powerful screamy song of theirs
17 - Fred Van Eps - Silver Heels Very old banjo-based song. Van Eps plays it very well
16 - LINES - Bird's Eye View LINES is a band that does not deserve to be as obscure as it actually is. Their songs are really nice. And this one was their main song for me that year.
15 - Silverchair - The Greatest View From time to time I get stuck with some Silverchair song in my mind. At that time it was "The greatest view"
14 - Massacration - Metal Milkshake Massacration is a parody on heavy metal bands. This song of theirs has great lyrics and a very good instrumental part
13 - Alessandro Moreschi - Ave Maria More than everything, a historical recording, since he is the only castrato to have his voice recorded. But a quite good song too.
12 - The Rolling Stones - Angie Very beautiful Stones' ballad. One of their best songs, in my opinion.
11 - Marc Lavoine - Je me sens si seul In a year that I discovered contemporary pop French songs, this one was the most significant of them.
10 - Schnauser - Jack of all trades A strong and powerful song from this Armenian band
09 - Robbie Williams - Tripping When you go to another country and listen to a song named "Trippin" with a video about a dream, it certainly takes part in your life
08 - Usher - Yeah Rap songs enter these charts thanks to the fun they produce, more than to their quality. In this case, it's the same
07 - Deep Purple - Blind A very good song from their early beginnings.
06 - Jovanotti - Mi fido di te At the first time I didn't like this song, but the circunstances made it become one of the main songs for that year, once it's very connected to facts of that time. By the way, now I like it.
05 - Jennifer Gentle - I Do Dream You Another gift from music.download.com. A very good contemporary psychedelic rock song. it's a pity this band didn't become more popular.
04 - System of a Down - Q-Bert Very nice song. 2 fast and 2 furious. I do not know if it's related to the Atari game named Q-Bert. Probably a little.
03 - Magic Box - If You It's pop. It's silly. But it's very cool. Got stuck with it for many, many times.
02 - Peppino di Capri - Roberta Nice old Italian pop song. And, beyond it, a symbol of a period of that year
01 - The Faint - Glass Danse Very good electro-indie song. 15 - Rogério Skylab - Fátima Bernardes This song made me change my mind about Skylab. Only then I could discover the genius inside him
14 - The White Stripes - Seven Nation Army Very catchy song. Nowadays, I think everyone knows it. And got bloated of it - except the Italians
13 - Os Mutantes - Minha Menina Maybe their first album (where this song is inclued) be the best album made in Brazil ever
12 - The Underdog Project - Summer Jam That song made me like dance/techno again. I still don't know whether it's good or not
11 - Linkin Park - Breaking the Habit A very good song of theirs, a bit different from the others, lacking of rap parts and usual shouts
10 - The Doors - People Are Strange They are right: people ARE strange
09 - Pixies - Where Is My Mind? The opposite of the other song of theirs in this list: instead of shinny happiness, dark despair
08 - New Order - Blue Monday Yeah, I was slightly caught by the 80's nostalgia
07 - Roger Pontare - När vindarna viskar mitt namn Nice swedish song. It is very strong. And the singer's clothes are fun
06 - Kylie Minogue - Come Into My World A good song with a terrible spinning video
05 - DJ Ross - Emotion A dance song that is way too better than the average
04 - 311 - Beautiful Disaster Their best song, in my opinion. It has a very good riff
03 - Steve Negus - Humble Stance His version for this SAGA song was the first song I found in music.download.com that I really liked. And that would change a lot my musical life
02 - O-Zone - Dragostea Din Tei This song was a big hit all around the world that year. It couldn't be different to me

12 - Tribalistas - Velha Infância Okay. This song sucks a bit. But it was so ever-present that it was impossible not to put it on the top 20
11 - Julian Lennon - Valotte Valotte is a very good album, here Julian sounds like his father probably would in the 80's
10 - Evanescence - Bring Me to Life By this song, I thought Evanescence would be a great band. But almost all the other songs consist in Amy Lee sobbing
09 - Jacques Brel - Ne Me Quitte Pas Okay, it's grandma's stuff, but sounds good and emotive
08 - Pitty - Máscara This song is fun. It caused tons of laughs during that year
07 - The Beatles - Till There Was You From time to time, I rediscover some Beatles' song
06 - Audioslave - Like a Stone The best thing Rage Against the Machine could have done: changing their singer. At least Chris Cornell sings
05 - George Harrison - Dark Horse Harrison again. A good song that brings me back the images of that year
04 - Bon Jovi - Misunderstood When you think Bon Jovi is over, they return with good songs. And bad video clips **** Edited in Apr 9th, 2009: correcting an injustice made the time the chart was prepared and regretted since then
03 - Steve Miller Band - Fly Like an Eagle A great song from them. The synth sounds at the end are very funny
02 - Simply Red - Stars Most of Simply Red's songs annoy me, but this one is just the opposite. Beautiful
01 - Rick Wakeman - March of the Gladiators It's instrumental, but who cares? It's powerful and nice. 19 - Oasis - Gas Panic! When it was launched, I thought that Standing on the Shoulder of Giants was a poor album. In 2002 I bought it and discovered that it is the best Oasis' album.
18 - Canned Heat - On The Road Again The song is very good, and the vocals are fun.
17 - Slade - This Girl From times to times I discover a new wonderful shouting song of theirs
16 - Sally Oldfield - Night of the Hunters Moon Unfortunately, the only copy I have of this song is a poor old vinyl single
15 - George Harrison - When We Was Fab A song that reminds me of the unstable beginning of the year
14 - Supertramp - My Kind of Lady This song has a very good melody. It's a chic ballad
13 - Morris Albert - Feelings A sad sad sad song for the sad sad sad moments
12 - INXS - Never Tear Us Apart It's a pity that Hutchence decided to hung himself. Maybe INXS were the best Aussie band
11 - The Smiths - There Is a Light That Never Goes Out Now I don't like this song so much, but at the time I liked it
10 - Procol Harum - Pandora's Box Like "Night of the Hunters Moon", a great song I've got in a poor storage
09 - Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Peter Gunn Keith Emerson playing made a excellent song even better
