I guess I owe a fucking radio station this one. 94.5 Lake FM in MKE has a televison station that mimicks was MTV was at its inception. They play NOTHING but music videos all day.

One day I saw the Pursuit of Happiness video. I was like WTF is this shit!? My Wife too, we were like "this shit doesn't even match the beat."

Then we might have seen the video once more.

Then two Fridays ago I saw the video again, and then almost instantly passed out on the couch I saw the video on. When I woke up literally the first thought (before were are my glasses) was those fkn lyrics going thru my head: "I'm on the pursuit of happiness, I know..."

So I sought him out.

I have been humping his album and mixtape since then. I haven't felt this same way about a rapper since the Deltron 3030 album.

It cannot be said enough how absolutely beautiful, unique and monumentally wonderful Jersey Girl by Tom Waits truly is. When I heard this song, not only did I become a Tom Waits fan, but it was partially cos of this song that I knew I was prepared to marry my Wife. The song encapsulates so many different emotions for me personally, and the lyrics delivered by Waits cannot set aside for something new. Its one of those songs that you wish there was a magical "6 Star" rating you could apply with whatever the hell your listening to your shit on. I owe a lot of my time to Waits, and I could slap a child in the face to see him perform one day, another one of those artists I discovered eons upon eons late. Fucking hell, I was growing up. Listening to what I thought was 'music'. Everything those kids are doing nowadays, 'cept on a different level. But now here I am rambling. It was this domain, and their fancy little application that turned me onto Waits one late night a year or two ago. Thanks a million. I really am truly appreciative each and every time I have a "Tom Waits moment" like I am now, I am so fucking thankful for this website.

While Kanye's Graduation was fucking epic, nothing quite beats the modern-day prodigal flow of Lil' Wayne. I excused him when I was younger, as I was part of that whole "No Limit Soldier" thing back in the late 90's. I gave up rap after all that and it was not until "Graduation" that I listened to rap again. But the song I'm Me has to be one of the best rap songs in the last several years.
