not sure if anyone noticed... or even cares for that matter, but ive been absent from last.fm in an effort to focus on my new position at le disney and also concentrate on my photography. sorry if ive not been as responsive. its totally not a reflection of what i think of the wonderful mates ive made on last.fm. its just more an issue of priority. my social life - online and in "real" life has deteriorated. sad.

last night in my drunken stooper (during my birthday celebration), i mentioned to a friend that i would like to wage war against bad music. id like to draft an army of top notch musicians and slaughter rubbish bands that plague the airwaves. the bands that im referring are the MTV poster children. these are the kids that play templated pop crap that they didnt even compose themselves.

because this journal isnt targeting any particular band(s) or genre(s), i would rather keep it light-hearted and humourous. this entry is not meant to stir up any controversy, but rather, provoke you - the reader - to provide some suggestions for who you think would best be suited to join the ranks of "EUPHYS MILITIA OF BAD MUSIC DESTRUCTION".

as pictured below, i shall be crowned queen of terror. my right and left hand men are carl barat and julian casablancas. not only will they serve as my next in command, but they shall also function as my eunichs, masseuses and cabana boys (its a highly sought after position, you know).


thus far, ive accumulated the following artists:
Dogs - look at them. they just eminate intimidation. sort of.
Battle - with a name like that, they deserve to represent in my army. granted, theyre lanky and probably cant throw a punch, but thats what weapons are for.
The Presets - australian. fit. fun. give them a knife. im sure they can do some damage.
The Rakes - i most certainly hope they dont do what their album implies (capture/release) as my instruction to them would be "KILL THEM ALL". and they will obey.
Art Brut - eddie argos can entertain any prisoners of war with his tongue in cheek humourous lyrics.
Attack + Defend - their name says it all.
Dirty Pretty Things - carls boys following their fearless leader into battle wont be disputed.
The Long Blondes - the fit members of this band can kill with their good looks.
Dustins Bar Mitzvah - these boys can fight diiiirty!!
Mando Diao - most likely the most arrogant swedes ive ever met, but for good reason. anyone who looks that tasty in black MUST be good in bed battle. _*cough*

speaking of presents... i came up with one of the most ingenius ideas of 2006 that i think you fine users (especially the american ones) will embrace.

im absolutely enthralled by the overwhelming amount of brilliant unsigned/indie bands in the UK that my last.fm mates have introduced me to. i posted a journal a couple of months ago to request recommendations of upcoming UK bands and have since then discovered more talented artists that have really taken my musical breath away. here are a few bands that are deemed worthy of this honor:
Dogs, GoodBooks, Klaxons, The Sunshine Underground, The Victorian English Gentlemen's Club, The Longcut, Attack + Defend, The Fratellis, Bromheads Jacket, The Rifles, The Holloways, Dustin's Bar Mitzvah, Good Shoes, The KBC, Keith, Les Incompetants, Roland Shanks, Neils Children, The On Offs, The Rocks, Special Needs, Theoretical Girl, The Young Knives.... etc etc

such a pity that these bands have yet to make it to the states - primarily because they lack the funds and/or the US following to do so.

in an effort to resolve this issue for my own selfish needs, i present to you: THE UK TO US GIG BOAT - "Set course for Let's Rock!" **


for the mere price of a few million dollars, i can transport up to 50 unsigned/indie UK bands to the states, safely (but not guaranteed) and somewhatcomfortably. once they land on US soil, so long as customs does not prevent us they will perform at a private party in hollywood to honour moi: THE BIRTHDAY GIRL DU JOUR. oh oh!!! and lets extend the invitation to some of my favourite UK last.fm friends as well! theres loads of room for you my dear mates :b

i think i can furnish lodging for a few of the musicians but they must meet the following pre-requisites:

• is/looks like carl barat or johnny cooke
  
• must be fit
  
• does not snore
  
• doesnt steal the covers from my bed

HOWEVER, im in good spirits. why? because I (unexpectedly) SAW Autolux LAST NIGHT.

i had no idea that they were performing at this atrocious afterhours party that i attended in hollywood until i walked into the venue and saw their trademark christmas lights set up on the stage.

in the usual autolux fashion, greg, eugene and carla entered the dark stage, heads down and hair in face. i was front and center in a complete trance as greg gave me the "hey anoulay" nod (yes, i know him).

their brief set lasted about 20 minutes and fed the crowd a dose of their droney, "i want to kick you in the face" moments that i so adore about this talented shoegazing trio. i could stab myself as i failed to list the tracks played. i was too busy snapping the shutter whilst balancing my 286th drink and bobbing up and down.

to top it all off, i didnt have to pay for one drink :)15 april was a good day.

dont you love it when you see an amazing band play and not expect it? wow. im still drunk.

how about this? save those journals for MYSPACE or better yet, link it to your blogger or LJ page. oh you dont have one? then place it in the "about me" secition of your profile.

although every now and then, ill find a literary diamond in the rough. users like _agent_orange_, howard_brookes, orangefleece, Mr_Fran, MrModernRock, ACKthehack, Le_THieN and schtef make journal reading intellectually stimulating and they challenge the reader and raise genuine interest in the topic at hand. im even more honoured when users like them contribute to my journals!

with that said, id like to see how other users feel - regardless of whether they concur with or oppose my opinion.
