Damn... This is JUST like U2. Incredibly similar. Oh, and I mean the old U2, not the techno, hoppin' U2. Not a bad album, a bit too long and samey, but good.

Nice and inventive jazz/fusion album by ex-Miles Davis sideman. Same lineup as his more famous album, "Shape of things to come", with Jan Hammer on the keys (here he lays down some synthesizers as well as his typical Fender Rhodes), Gene Perla and Don Alias. Good stuff that deserves a proper reissue. 10/15.

Damn! Where did this one came from? Don't know where I got it, but this is some of the best 60s (inspired) pop I've heard this year! Beach Boys + Curt Boettcher + Beatles + gobs of mellotron = symphonic pop bliss! First solo album by Greenslade, and a good one it is. Eschewing some of the bombast of his namesake band, he opts here for a more laid back symphonic vibe, with incremental mood changes and synth runs. Speaking of synths, they're everywhere here, in abundance really. Tracks are kept relatively short, and varied between them. 10/15.

Good, melodic pop covered in several layers of grunge (this was released in 1997 after all...). Still, there are enough nice touches to make the listen worth, like the keyboard sounds (that fuzzy Farfisa organ) and the catchy choruses/lyrics/song titles. Dig: "Cool as Kim Deal", "Hard On For Jesus". The last 2 tracks seem to come from a whole different album, as they are very cool drony rock, like Loop. Come to think of it, the layers of grunge I mention above are more like layers of droney distortion, and on the last 2 tracks, they go all-out for the drone, minus the pop stuff... Well, good stuff here. 10/15.

This album should've been called "Too Damn Boring". With the exception of 3 upbeat solid tracks, the rest of the album is just those slow, sleep inducing "ballads", with a few organ vamps here and there. Lonnie kicks ass on the upbeat stuff, and the 2 guitarrists add a lot, but overall, the album is not very good. 8/15.

Swedish melodic hard rock from the early 70s (1970 I think). It doesn't break much new ground, unlike, say, Trettioariga Kriget, and it isn't very heavy or particularly progressive, but it's an overall pleasant rock album. 10/15.

Spinoff of the fantastic James Brown funky music machine, this is the JBs at their most "out there", with political statements on the lyrics and synthesizers on the instrumentation.
