Whoo. Now, I apparantly didn't make a list last year, so I can't really compare my list, my there are some major differences I can talk about. Well, first similarites, TMBG is still number 1, as I hope they are forever. I listen to them religiously, and between the release of Here Come The 123s and their new podcast, it kept them up there. Some goes for BNL, who also released a kid's album this year, and are constantly on my rotation. Hey Jade, remember how there was BNL news this year? For my sake of going back and reading in the future, this was the year of Steven coke-thing, and Ed's plane crash.
Alright, #3. The Beatles! The hilarious thing is here is that I made a journal almost a year ago saying that I was going to cave and finally start listening to them. It was actually kind of a life altering decision in the end :D I listen to them almost everyday and it has become a centerpoint in my relationship with my sister. I love their movies too. I won't drag it on, I'm just going to say that they have altered my life for the better. Also, I totally saw Paul in concert this year.
#6, Tally Hall, is a new one on my listt as well. Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum is my favourite new release of 2008, I even have them above TMBG (gasp!). Great tunes, and they even have a great internet show to keep up with! I went to the fine establishment of their albums's namesake as well
#10, ha, I had completely forgot that I went through a Moxy Fruvous streak this year :D Feel like it was so long ago. I had to start listening to them after Thatmikeykid said I was basically the worse canadian ever for not listening to them.
#9, Oppenheimer had a new album out this year, the fabulous Take The Whole Midrange And Boost It, and according to Rocky, they've already got a new one in the works :D
#8, PAUL AND STORM! Sweet jesus, do I ever love these guys :D Their songs are hilarious (exspecially if you are just the right degree of tired ;D) and their weekly podcast has become one of the highlights of my life. I mean, they're always talking about Jonathan Coulton and The Simpsons, is there anyway to go wrong? And I am a certified minion and a member of the Order of the Inner Sanctum Guard, Centurian. AND! Ana saw them in concert and they acknowledged my existance!
As for Mono Puff,Frank Black, CAKE, and Pixies, I didn't realize that I listen to them so much this year, I expect them all to be much lower in 2009. Exspecially since Frank Black has gone back to the moniker Black Francis, that screws up my scrobbles!
My only other prediction for next year is that Elvis Costello will probably get into my top 5. I love that guy.

Frustration

Good news; I bought a new laptop. My last one (the aptly named "Grimey") Is about two e-mail checks away from exploding. Anyways, since now I don't have to worry about my computer exploding everytime 20 mins, I can probably start getting around to being here more often. I miss you, last.fm. But ofcourse there would be bad news. Actually, it's not all bad. I was super worried about transfering my iTunes over to my new laptop, but that went much better than planned. I didn't lose any of my podcasts, and I actually found a bunch on my external hard drive that I thought I lost (but now, it's all "you have 837 podcasts to catch up on", alas). Most of my library is working perfectly, I was pretty impressed. Until I realized one thing, there was one band that managed to get butchered pretty badly, and wouldn't you know, it's They Might Be Giants. On my former laptop, I have roughly 1120-ish TMBG songs, right now I'm sitting at about 250. Sigh. I have tracked down where most of them are hidden, but it's still pretty lame. At first I thought it was just anything that was in mp3 format (which is mostly concerts and dial-asong, but while looking for Flood today, I realized that's missing, as well as some albums I actually bought on iTunes (like The Else and Here Come The 123s). I guess I do have those on CD, so it won't be so bad. But things like Frank London's Tavern In Pinsk and Gordan Ganos Darlin' Allison are missing, as well as my dear Pixies tribute (speaking of Pixies, only one of their albums survived the transfer as well).... lame. I'm sure they can be revived, but it would have been nice if it just went as I liked...
On much happier notes, is The Decemberists one of the greatest bands ever, or what?! I've been listening to them practically non-stop.
And, I think We Want a Rock is offically my third favourite TMBG track...

Hoo-boy, I'm leaving to see Paul McCartney tomorrow! I'm pretty psyched. I'm in the middle of 'Beatle Fever' here at home, so this is pretty big. I should be back home Monday, and I'll try to write a journal about it, but seeing how it's a HUGE show, I doubt there will be any awesome intimacies between Paul and the audience, oh well :D

Man, I have a good feeling about this year, there some serious albums that are coming out soon, including:
-Tally Hall re-issued Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum (April 1st)
-David Miller Make Your Own Fun (April-ish)
-Barenaked Ladies Snack Time (May 6th) (Their first kid's album! Haha, to quote my brother 'they only wish they were They Might Be Giants!'
And I know there's atleast one more that isn't popping into my head right now. Man, april-may is going ot be a great time for music (also, I'm turning 19 in April, huzzah)
If you guys know anything thing else exceptionally awesome coming out this year, let me know! I don't want to miss out on anything!
