It also contains some of my all-time favorite tracks.

What is your favorite lyric that 1 has sung?
Oh jeeze. I love all of them. It's going to be hard to choose one. But I guess I'll choose the one that cemented Tori as an ultimate Goddess in my life.
"So you can make me cum that doesn't make you Jesus"
- "Precious Things" - Tori Amos
C'mon, that's the most awesome lyric ever!!!
* I'm still going to stick with my original answer on that lol.

How many times have you seen 11 live?
I've seen Metric live once. I went to the Metro with my friend Jen to see them a few years ago. It was a really awesome show. We made our way up to the front and I was so close to Emily Haines! We had to stand for hours, but it was worth it.

What is your favorite song by 7
Running Up That Hill
This is the song that made me love Kate. I know it's an obvious choice, but it's still my favorite song by her and I'm always happy when it comes on my foobar or Zune.

What is a good memory you have involving 20?
I don't know if I really have any happy memories of listening to Rasputina. I usually listen to them when I'm in one of my dark moods.

Is there a song by 3 that makes you sad?
Umm the first one that comes to mind is Sorry I Am, especially the live version on Living in Clip. It has always made me sad because I can relate the song to many messed up situations in my life.

What is your favorite lyric that 14 has sung?
I'm not that hot new chick
And if you won't let me run with it
We're on to your same old trick
Get up and run away with it
- Cat Power "He War"

What is your favorite song by 19?
I've always loved Possibly Maybe. The melody is just so soothing and melds nicely with her voice. I like listening to it before bed.

How did you get in to 22?
I remember watching a lot of Vh1 as a kid back in the 90s. Vh1 played a lot of Sarah McLachlan when Surfacing came out. I remember not being that impressed at first, but for some reason the song Adia really grabbed me, so I bought the album. It took me a while, but I eventually got to love Surfacing and her other albums. I also got my mom to love Surfacing as well.

What was the first song you heard by 21?
Oh jeeze I think it was Sprout and the Bean. I remember not liking Joanna when I first heard her because I found her voice so off-putting at first. I eventually grew to appreciate the genius of her lyrics and melodies.

What is your favorite song by 4?
That's tough because I love so many PJ songs for different reasons. I guess I'll pick Sheela-Na-Gig since that was one of my favorite songs from her due to the lyrics and music and I still love it today.

How many time have you seen 10 live?
Never. I would have loved to have seen Joni live back when she was in her prime in the 1970s. I'd still like to see her live though even though I'm not that into her new stuff.

What is a good memory you have involving 13?
I have many good memories involving Gaga. I always listen to her when I'm in a bad mood. She always cheers me up. She also reminds me of my sister since she is the one who got me into her.

Is there a song by 23 that makes you sad?
Hmm that's tough. I don't think there's a song that really makes me sad by Patti Smith. Although, Pissing in a River is pretty emotional to me.

What is your favorite album of 15?
I love nearly all their albums, but the first one Garbage still resonates the most with me.

What is your favorite lyric that 9 has sung?
The lyrics to The Way Things Are are pretty much the story of my life.

What is your favorite song by 8?
Ooooh that's so hard because I love a bunch of SK songs for different reasons. I guess I'll pick Combat Rock since I can listen to that song all the time. Everything about it is perfect to me. I love the lyrics, melody, and singing. I love it when Corin and Carrie sing together.

What is your favorite song by 16?
Gone Sugaring I love everything about that song. The melody and vocals are amazing and always put me in a good mood.

How many times have you seen 5 live?
Never, but I'd love to see her live. I love Liz so much!!!

What is your favorite album by 12?
Umm that's a tough call. I like a lot of them equally. I used to like Bed the most, but I think I love Hey Babe the most now. The songs just really speak to me, especially Ugly, which could be the story of my psyche.

What is a good memory you have involving 25?
I used to listen to Emily Haines all the time when I was at work. Her soothing voice, beautiful music, and brilliant lyrics always made my shitty days at my office job go by a lot better.

What was the first song you heard by 18?
Mushaboom
I first heard it on a cable radio station I used to listen to a lot. I didn't care for the song at first, but then grew to love it and the rest of the Let It Die album.

What is your favorite song by 17?
That's a tough decision since I love listening to nearly all of her songs. I guess I'll pick
Dilapidalliance since I really love the lyrics and the melody. It just stick out to me more than most of her other songs.

What is your favorite album by 24?
The Softies
It contains most of my favorite Softies songs.

Morrissey - We Hate It When Our Friends Become Successful
38. Uh Huh Her - Away From Here
39. Tears for Fears - Everybody Wants To Rule The World
40. Ryan Adams - Political Scientist

1. Which song do you prefer, #1 or #40?
I love The Stooges, but I think I like the Ryan Adams song more. That Ryan Adams album is just so beautiful. It's unfair to have to compare those songs anyway since they are so different.

2. Have you ever listened to #12 continuously on repeat?
No. Kim Gordon is one of my heroines, but I'm still trying to get into Free Kitten. I don't love any of their songs enough yet to play them on repeat.

3. What album is #26 from?
Everything Changed

4. What do you think about the artist who did #15?
Keri and her songs are beautiful. She is very talented, but I just haven't been able to fall in love with her music. It's good, but it just does not grab me much for some reason.

5. Is #19 one of your favorite songs?
No, I don't listen to Natalie much anymore. I was obsessed with her as a kid, but I don't really love her stuff anymore.

6. Who does #38 remind you of?
My friend Jen since she got me into Uh Huh Her. She's a big fan of them, especially the one member of the band that was in one of her favorite shows: The L Word.

7. Does #20 have better lyrics or music?
That's a tough call. I, and most people probably, recognize Sonic Youth more for their music than lyrics. Though, I do love the lyrics to certain songs, especially those by Kim Gordon since they sometimes have feminist themes. Though considering their catalog overall, I guess I'll pick music over lyrics.

8. Do any of your friends like #3?
I'm not sure these days. Most of my friends loved her when Jagged Little Pill came out, but I don't know if any of my friends listen to her anymore.

9. Is #33 from a movie soundtrack?
No, not to my knowledge it isn't.

10. Is #18 overplayed on the radio?.
Definitely not. Liz songs are rarely played on the radio in general unless they are from her more recent and radio-friendly albums. Alternative stations used to play some of her songs back in the 90s, but I don't think I ever heard any songs from Exile in Guyville on the radio.

11. What does #21 remind you of?
Not much really. I guess it reminds me of my last few years of high school since that was when I was getting into female musicians. Heather Nova was one of the artists that I discovered and really liked back then, but I don't listen to her that much anymore.

12. Which song do you prefer, #5 or #22?
I love both The Softies and Mirah, but I have to go with Count to Ten by The Softies. That song, like most Softies songs, is just so beautiful. The Softies always make me feel better when I'm having a bad day. I love Mirah and Look Up is a good song, but not one of my favorites.

13. What album is #17 from?
Reading, Writing, And Arithmetic

14. When did you first hear #39?
I remember that song from childhood. I think I most closely associate it with the film Real Genius. It was played at the end of the film during the infamous popcorn scene, which I always thought was so cool as a kid. My mom made me watch that movie all the time, so I'm sure that's probably where I first heard it.

16. What genre is #8?
Good old classic jazz or possibly big band.

17. Do any of your friends like #14?
No one I know really likes Joanna except for my ex. I got him to fall in love with her music and I know he loves Ys, so I'm sure he likes that song.

18. What color does #4 remind you of?
I don't really know actually. I guess I would say red for passion. I don't mean romantic passion as much as fiery angry chick passion. I listened to a lot of Tracy Bonham in my angry feminist stage when I was very passionate about strong women in the arts and Tracy wrote a lot of songs with feminist themes.

19. Have you ever blasted #11 on your stereo?
Definitely. I always blast Sleater-Kinney.

20. What genre is #37?
I guess Alternative?

21. Can you play #13 on any instrument?
No, I can't play anything on an instrument. Phish would definitely be hard to play anyway since they are such talented musicians and their songs are always so musically rich.

22. What is your favorite line from #30?
Lost in cheap delirium
Searching the neon lights
I move carefully
- Zero 7 "Home"

23. What is your favorite lyric from #23?
HAHAHA omg I love Cartman's version of O Holy Night. I love how he changes the song to talk about how he's happy about Jesus being born so he can get presents lol.

24. Would you recommend #24 to your friends?
No, not really. Most of them would probably make fun of it. I'd let my feminist friends listen to it since Mecca Normal's lyrics are very good and full of feminist themes, but the lead singer's voice is very strange and most people I know would make fun of her.

25. Is #2 a good song to dance to?
I've probably half-assed danced to the song while listening to it in my car. It starts out slow, but really picks up. I don't know how well you could dance to it though lol.

26. Do you ever hear #16 on the radio?
No I've never heard Bratmobile on the radio and probably never will. I don't think Riot Grrrl bands are played on any type of mainstream station, especially these days.

27. Is #32 more of a “nighttime” or “daytime” song?
I'm not sure. I'd say daytime since I used to listen to Imperfectly all the time while driving around the suburbs in the afternoon.

28. Does #36 have any special meaning to you?
It was on a special mix CD that my ex surprised me with when we started dating, so I guess it did have a special meaning at one time.

29. Do any of your friends like #31?
My ex is a big Smiths fan, but other than him, I don't know anyone else who likes The Smiths, so I'd so no overall.

30. Is #25 a fast or slow song?
I'd say it's pretty fast.

31. Is #35 a happy or sad song?
I guess it's happy. Ramones songs are usually pretty fun and boppy. I don't think they ever did a sad song, though I could be wrong.

32. What is one of your favorite lyrics from #9?
She looks through her hair like she doesn't care
What she does best is stand and stare
- Sonic Youth "My Friend Goo"
I like this lyric because it reminds me of the way I usually am when I'm out.

33. Is #34 better to listen to alone or with friends?
I'm not really sure. I don't listen to it much.

34. When did you first hear #27?
In the movie Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me

35. Name 3 other songs by the artist who did #29?
My favorites are:
Lazy Calm
Pandora
Cherry-Coloured Funk

36. Do you know all the words to #6?
No I only know a few. I usually pay more attention to Joanna's stunning harp playing more than the lyrics when I listen to that song.

37. Does #28 have better lyrics or music?
While Tori's music is very beautiful for the most part, I have to say her lyrics. Her lyrics usually hit very close to home for me and have helped me through most of my life.

38. What album is #10 from?
Palms & Runes, Tarot And Tea: A Michael Penn Collection

I thought this might be a fun idea for a journal entry. These are my personal choices for favorite and least favorite albums. These aren't necessarily what I think are the best and worst albums from the artists. I'd love to hear what other fans of these artists have to say about these albums and their personal choices for favorite and least favorite album.

1. Tori Amos

Favorite Album: Little Earthquakes
Even though I'm not sure if this is necessarily Tori's best album, it will always be the one that has the most personal meaning to me. I can relate to nearly every song on the album and it just affects me more than any of her other albums do. It is hard for me to listen to songs like Precious Things, which could be the story of my life, and Winter without crying because they are so poignant to me.

Least Favorite: The Beekeeper
I used to say that Strange Little Girls was my least favorite album, but it has grown on me a lot in the past few years. While I really do love certain songs from this album to death, Original Sinsuality is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard, this album overall just does not grab me like her other ones do. While I find most of the songs pleasant to listen to and I think some are very well-written, the album just doesn't pack the emotional punch that the other do in my opinion.

2. Aimee Mann

Favorite Album: I'm With Stupid
I know most Aimee fans would not pick this album as their favorite one and I definitely do not think it is her best. I would say that either Lost in Space or Bachelor No. 2 is her best album, but I'm With Stupid was my first Aimee album and the one I always find myself coming back to. I can listen to nearly every song repeatedly and it contains You Could Make a Killing, which is my all-time favorite Aimee song and the song that got me into her.

Least Favorite: Whatever
I like Whatever a lot. There are certain songs on this album that I adore and I like listening to it overall. It's just that I do not connect with it as much as her other albums. While I like most of the songs on this album, I love nearly every song on all of her other albums. There are also some of my least favorite Aimee songs on this album.

3. PJ Harvey

Favorite Album: Dry
This was a very hard choice to make. While I would say To Bring You My Love is probably her best album, Dry will always be my personal favorite. It was one of my first PJ albums and I remember listening to it all the time when driving to school when I was an undergrad. I just love the overall composition of nearly every song. Sheela-Na-Gig still remains one of my favorite PJ songs and one of the ones I am the most impressed with lyrically and musically. I think Rid of Me comes a very close second though and I always love listening to Is This Desire.

Least Favorite: Uh Huh Her
I know a lot of people really love this album and I think it is very good. It's just that it is the only PJ album I haven't been able to fully get into. I love a few of the songs to pieces. Pocket Knife is one of my favorite PJ songs. It's just that after having this album for quite a few years now, I still can't get into most of the songs on it.

4. Regina Spektor.

Favorite Album: Soviet Kitsch
I think that either Songs or 11:11 should be considered her best album, but I always find myself returning to Soviet Kitsch. I can listen to nearly song over and over, even after having the album for quite a few years now. It was also my first Regina album, so it will always have special meaning. Us still remains one of the most captivating songs I have ever heard and Chemo Limo still makes me cry.

Least Favorite: Begin to Hope
I don't really have a least favorite Regina album. I really like them all and she does not have that many albums. I love Begin to Hope and I used to listen to it all the time. It's just that I really don't listen to this album anymore. Some of the songs have just been worn out for me. So, I guess I'm basing this decision on the fact that I overplayed the album way too much over the past few years more than I am judging the quality of it. I know a lot of fans would probably pick Far as their least favorite. While the album as a whole is definitely far from her best, I find myself constantly listening to some of the songs from it. I better not overplay that one too lol.

5. Ani DiFranco

Favorite Album: Not a Pretty Girl
While I own a bunch of Ani albums, I will always like Not a Pretty Girl the best. It was my first Ani album and it was one of those albums that got me through those awkward and mostly awful days of high school. 32 Flavors and Not a Pretty Girl could have been written about me. This will always be the Ani album I have the strongest connection with.

Least Favorite: Up Up Up Up Up Up
I don't think this album is terrible, but I have never been able to get into it. I love the song Everest, but I usually find myself skipping over most of the songs on this album. I'm not sure why, but I just can't get into this album.

6. Kate Bush

Favorite Album; Hounds Of Love
I realize that this is a very obvious choice, but Hounds of Love will always be my favorite Kate album. I used to listen to it obsessively and I still find myself returning to it more than her other albums. I remember buying The Whole Story when I was an undergrad as an attempt to introduce myself to Kate. The songs from Hounds of Love instantly grabbed me and I bought the album the next day. Running Up That Hill is still one of my favorite songs of all time. I would say that The Dreaming and The Sensual World come very close to being my favorite as well.

Least Favorite: The Red Shoes
I know this is probably another obvious choice lol, but I honestly cannot fully get into this album. I love nearly all of Kate's albums to death, but this is the only one that I just cannot get into for some reason. I do not think this album is as bad as most people make it out to be and most of the songs are quite nice to listen to. It's just that I don't love any of the songs on this album while I love nearly all of the songs on the other albums.

7. Fiona Apple

Favorite Album: When the Pawn
I love all of Fiona's albums. Her music helped get me through some very painfully awkward times. When the Pawn will always be my favorite Fiona album and my favorite album of all time. This entire album could have been written about me lol. While Tidal is also very important to me, I've always connected with When the Pawn just a little bit more. It would be my most played album on here if it weren't for me screwing tags up.

Least Favorite: Extraordinary Machine
This is not very fair because Fiona only has three studio albums. I love this album to pieces. The only reason it is my least favorite is because I connect more with When the Pawn and Tidal. Those two albums helped me get through high school and undergrad. That is the only reason I'm listing Extraordinary Machine as my least favorite. It's kind of funny because it is my top album on here, but like I said, When the Pawn actually is, but doesn't show up as my top album because of the tagging.

8. Liz Phair

Favorite Album: Exile in Guyville
I know this is the most obvious choice, but this will always be my favorite Liz album. I used to listen to this album all the time in high school and I can still enjoy nearly every song on it. I absolutely adore the lyrics and the melodies of nearly every song. This is definitely one of my favorite albums of all time.

Least Favorite: Somebody's Miracle
While I found some of the songs on the heavily criticized self titled album to be quite enjoyable and interesting, I found the songs on Somebody's Miracle to be incredibly boring. I don't intend to berate her for going in different musical directions, but Somebody's Miracle is the ultimate representation of the most boring and uninspired parts of the self titled album. I do not think the songs are terrible and many are quite pleasant to listen to. It's just that there was nothing special about this album. It is the only Liz album I never bothered to buy. While I find Funstyle a bit bizarre, at least it is interesting and even fun in some ways.

9. Metric

Favorite Album: Live It Out
I love all of Metric's albums, so it's hard to pick favorites. I picked Live It Out because it's the album that I find myself listening to the most. I used to listen to all of their albums obsessively and Live It Out is still the album that I find myself constantly returning to more than their other albums. It's funny because I originally did not like this album when I first bought it. It took me a long while to realize its brilliance. I guess better late than never lol.

Least Favorite: Grow Up And Blow Away
Again, I really don't have a least favorite Metric album. The reason I picked Grow Up and Blow Away is because I do not listen to it as much I listen to the other albums anymore. I think I significantly wore out both Old World Underground and Grow Up, but I still find myself returning to Old World more than Grow Up and Blow Away. Like my case with Regina Spektor, I think this is just a case of wearing out the album through overplaying. I think it is a great album though and hopefully I will return to it again.

10. Sleater-Kinney

Favorite Album: The Hot Rock
I was originally going to pick All Hands on the Bad One since that was my first SK album and I love every song on it, but I just adore The Hot Rock. This album contains my all-time favorite SK songs that I can listen to over and over again. I love this album more and more with each listen. I know a lot of SK fans don't care for All Hands or Hot Rock as much as the other ones. I agree that other albums such as Call the Doctor and Dig Me Out could probably be considered their best ones, but my personal favorites are Hot Rock and All Hands. I love Call and Dig as well though along with the self-titled.

Least Favorite: The Woods
I know this will be an unpopular choice for my least favorite album since I know a lot of SK fans who love this album to death and think it is their best album. As much as I try though, I just cannot get into this album like I get into the other ones. I like the songs on the album, but I really don't love any of them. I used to not care for One Beat all that much either, but at least One Beat is starting to grow on me. There are certain songs from One Beat that I adore, but I can't pinpoint any that I really love on The Woods. I'm hoping it will grow on me though.

I did this a few years ago. Since my top 50 has changed quite a bit in the last few years, I figured I'd do this again.

1. How did you get into #31? I saw Sarah Harmer's You Were Here album at Best Buy. For some reason, I was intrigued by the cover so I went home and sampled it on the internet. I liked what I heard, so I bought the album and everything else she released after that.

2. What was the first song you ever heard by #22? I've been listening to Sonic Youth since high school, so it is kind of hard of to pinpoint which song I heard first. I'm pretty sure it was Kool Thing. One of my classmates played it a music appreciation class I took my junior year of high school. It remains my favorite song by them.

3. What's your favorite lyric by #29?
I love a lot of Hole lyrics. But my favorite would have to be from Doll Parts. That song has always been my favorite from them and has always resonated with me.

I want to be the girl with the most cake
I love him so much it just turns to hate
I fake it so real, I am beyond fake
And someday, you will ache like I ache
Someday, you will ache like I ache

4. What is your favorite album by #49? It would probably be a tie between The Smiths first album and The Queen is Dead. While I think The Queen is Dead is their best, I have always been drawn to The Smiths more.

5. How many albums by #13 do you own? I own all of Sleater-Kinney's full-length studio albums and one of their EPs.
1. All Hands on the Bad One
2. Call the Doctor
3. Dig Me Out
4. Get Up
5. One Beat
6. Sleater-Kinney
7. The Hot Rock
8. The Woods

6. What is your favorite song by #50? I've always really loved New Slang.

7. Is there a song by #4 that makes you sad?

For each artist in your top 10 artists, name
- your favorite song
- your favorite album
- your favorite lyrics
- how you got started listening to them
- last played

1. Tori Amos
Favourite song : This is a nearly impossible task since I love nearly every song this woman has ever composed. I guess I will say Spark since this is the first Tori song I fell in love with. I love everything about it, including the dark ambient melody and the brilliant and complex metaphor-laden lyrics.
Favourite album : I have to say Little Earthquakes This album changed my life when I heard it at 17 years old. I think it is her most personal album. It may not be the strongest musically, it has that annoying early 90s adult contempo feel to it at times, but I can relate to each song in some way. Tori really tore open her soul and let the contents bleed onto the tracks of this album. She does that in some way with every album, but I think she does it the best with Little Earthquakes.
Favourite lyrics : I have to go with the lyrics of "Precious Things" I think the entire song contains some of the best and most unique lyrics ever written. I especially love the lines "so you can make me cum that doesn't make you Jesus" and the line about the "demigods" and their "nine inch nails and little fascist panties" This song could serve as a biographical account of my pre-teen years.
How I started listening : It is embarrassing to say as a Toriphile, but I bought Strange Little Girls after hearing the title track on the radio. I always liked her songs, like Spark, but I did not know who did them. I hated SLG as a whole, but I loved the song Rattlesnakes enough to check out Little Earthquakes and Choirgirl, which I loved with all my heart.
Last Played : I played her wonderful cover of R.E.M.'s "Losing My Religion" just a few minutes ago.

2. Fiona Apple
Favourite song : Paper Bag for sure. This is my all-time favorite song. I love the melody and the lyrics are pretty much an accurate portrayal of my love life lol.
Favourite album : I love them all, but When the Pawn was an album that I could really relate to in high school. It is so angsty, yet incredibly poetic.
Favourite lyrics : I love all of her lyrics. I can relate to them all in some way, but I would have to say all the lyrics to "The Way Things Are" could be mistaken for my life story <3 I especially love the chorus "Keep on calling me names keep on keep on. I'll keep kicking the crap till it's gone" It is so simple yet incredibly powerful.
How I started listening : I heard "Fast as You Can" on the radio when it came out in 1999 when I was 15. My mom's friend had both Tidal and When the Pawn, so I borrowed them from her. I fell in love with her instantly after hearing them.
Last Played : I played "To Your Love" a couple days ago. I haven't been listening to her as much because I have been burnt out on her music. Unlike Tori who has 80 million songs, Fiona only has 3 albums and a few cover songs. I can only listen to so much of the same stuff. I still love her, I always will, but I need a break.

3. Regina Spektor
Favourite song : This is a tough one. Right now, my favorite song by her is an unreleased track called A Cannon The melody is absolutely stunning and the lyrics represent everything I love about Regina. It contains simple language yet brilliant and complex metaphors and that quirkiness that makes Regina unique and wonderful.
Favourite album : 11:11 I really prefer obscure underground Regina to popular mainstream Regina, though I love the major label stuff too. Every single song on this album is brilliant. I think this album contains some of her best lyrics as well.
Favourite lyrics : I think I have to pick the lyrics of "Pavlov's Daughter" I think this song contains some of the most unique and intelligent lyrics ever written. I especially love the lines "If I hear another song about angels If I see another feather on the dumb-box
I'm gonna go to Babylon and get me some whiskey
Gonna go to Babylon and get me some whiskey now..."
How I started listening : I saw the video for "Us" a few years ago when Soviet Kitsch came out. I thought it was so beautiful I went out and bought the album the next day. I did not appreciate Regina's eccentric songs and persona back then, so the album just sat on my shelf. It wasn't until Begin to Hope came out that my interest in her was rekindled. I listened to Soviet Kitsch again and then I loved it more than BTH!
Last Played : I listened to "Bartender" about a half hour ago.

4. Aimee Mann
Favourite song : You Could Make A Killing this is the song that made me fall in love with her. I love the moody electric guitar melody, her melancholy vocals, and the lyrics.
Favourite album : I have to say I'm With Stupid. This was my first Aimee album. Though some songs are better than others, I like each track in its own way.
Favourite lyrics : All her lyrics are great. I really love the lyrics to "It's Not Safe" since I can relate to them so much. "Don't you know that you're a fucking freak in this world?"
How I started listening : I heard "You Could Make a Killing" in the movie Cruel Intentions. I loved it so much I bought the soundtrack and played the song on repeat for months.
Last Played : I played "Amateur" a couple hours ago.

5. PJ Harvey
Favourite song : Down By The Water I love everything about this song. The haunting melody and lyrics are incredible.
Favourite album : I love the first four so much, but I have always had a predilection for To Bring You My Love
Favourite lyrics : The lyrics to "Sheela-Na-Gig" are absolutely brilliant. I especially love the lines "Gonna wash that man right out of my hair" and "Gonna take my hips to a man who cares" It is my favorite song about the pain of unrequited love
How I started listening : I had heard a lot of buzz about Stories from the City... and had seen the video for This is Love. I was intrigued by her and the album, but I did not fall in love with her until I decided to buy Dry, which is one of my favorite albums ever.
Last Played : I played "One Time Too Many" a couple hours ago.

6. Ani DiFranco
Favourite song : 32 Flavors This is the first Ani song I fell in love with. I can really relate to the lyrics and the melody is so beautiful and mellow.
Favourite album : Not a Pretty Girl I love everything about this album, including its title and artwork, done by Ani herself. I think this contains her best songs as well.
Favourite lyrics : All of her lyrics are brilliant, but the ones to "32 Flavors" are very important to me. I especially love these lines: "Squint your eyes and look closer I'm not between you and your ambition I am a poster girl with no poster I am thirty-two flavors and then some And I'm beyond your peripheral vision So you might want to turn your head Cause someday you might find you're starving And eating all of the words you said"
How I started listening : I had heard a lot about her on a local indie radio station. I actually bought Not a Pretty Girl on a whim after hearing so many good things.
Last Played : I heard a few songs by her earlier today.

7. Kate Bush
Favourite song : Running Up That Hill This is the song that made me fall in love with her music. I never get sick of it.
Favourite album : Hounds Of Love This was my first Kate album. I think it is incredible. Every song is a gem. I love the Dreaming too, but this one will always be special to me.
Favourite lyrics : I love the lyrics to "Hounds of Love" especially the lines "Now hounds of love are hunting I've always been a coward, And I don't know what's good for me" I can really relate to those lines.
How I started listening : I listened to her the same reason many people did. I was a huge fan of Tori's and everyone was saying that Kate was like the British Tori of the 80s. I don't necessarily agree with this, but I am grateful I checked her out.
Last Played : A couple days ago.

8. Garbage
Favourite Song : Only Happy When It Rains This will always be special to me since it was my theme song when I was an angst-ridden, moody, pseudo-goth teenager.
Favourite album : Garbage Even though Version 2.0 was my first Garbage album, I think that the debut album is much better. I love v 2.0 too, but I like the songs on the self titled more.
Favourite lyrics : The lyrics to "Only Happy When It Rains" "I only smile in the dark My only comfort is the night gone black"
How I started listening : I bought Version 2.0 when I was fourteen after seeing the video for "I Think I'm Paranoid" and loving the song.
Last Played : Two days ago.

9. Liz Phair
Favourite Song : Divorce Song This is my favorite track from Exile In Guyvile and one of the first songs I really loved by her. I love the melody and I like the lyrics. They are written in simple language, yet she crafts many metaphors that effectively illustrate the details of a failed romantic relationship
Favourite album : Exile in Guyville This is Liz's indisputable masterpiece. No other album she has done compares to this one.
Favourite lyrics : "You put in my hands a loaded gun
And then you told me not to fire it When you did the things you said were up to me And then accused me of trying to fuck it up" from Divorce Song
How I started listening : I heard "Polyester Bride" on an Alternative radio station. I loved it so much I bought Whitechocolatespaceegg the next day.
Last Played : A couple days ago?

10. Elliott Smith
Favourite Song : Single File A really beautiful and underrated song from his self-titled album. The lyrics really hit close to home and the melody gives me chills.
Favourite album : Elliott Smith This is his most mellow and minimalistic album musically, which is what I enjoy
Favourite lyrics : I'm a junkyard full of false starts And I don't need yr permission To bury my love under this bare light bulb The moon is a sickle cell It'll kill you in time" from Coming Up Roses, another great song from the self titled album.
How I started listening : I heard the song "Miss Misery" in Good Will Hunting, which was my favorite film for a while.
Last Played : A couple hours ago.

"Get your top 20 artists, and find which of their tracks you've played the most on iTunes/Windows Media Player. Then see where it comes in that artist's "most-played" lists. The lower the track in the list, the weirder you are...or something to that effect."

1. Tori Amos
My top track: Rattlesnakes This is not my favorite Tori song, nor is it her best, since it is a cover, but I adore this song so much. This one song made the horrible Strange Little Girls worth my 13 dollars. It helps me mellow out.
Ranking: 72. That is not surprising. It is the best track off of Strange Little Girls, but it is a cover. Even though it is a great cover, it should not be high in Tori's top tracks.

2. Fiona Apple
My top track: Paper Bag This is my favorite Fiona song and my favorite song of all time. It is my most played track on last.fm. I love this song to death. I can listen to it over and over.
Ranking: 1. That is really interesting. I thought Criminal or one of her radio hits would be number one. Paper Bag was not a hit single for Fiona, but most people name it as their favorite song of hers. I have never talked to anyone who did not like this song, so I guess it makes sense that it is number one.

3. Ani DiFranco
My top track: Out Of Habit This is my favorite Ani song. I listen to it all the time and never get sick of it. Both the lyrics and the melody are incredibly well-written.
Ranking: 28. That's a bit shocking. This is definately one of Ani's best songs. Even people who are not big Ani fans love this one. Its position is a bit dissapointing to me.

4. PJ Harvey
My top track: Down By The Water My favorite PJ track of all time! It is also from my favorite PJ album. No surprise that this is my top track of hers.
Ranking: 4. That is a pretty high ranking, but I thought it would be 1 or 2. It is one of her best known tracks and one of the most highly regarded. At least it is in the top 10.

5. Aimee Mann
My top track: Guys Like Me This is not my favorite Aimee track, but it is my favorite track off of Lost in Space; it is the one that made me fall in love with that album. It is one of my favorite tracks of hers, but not my all-time favorite.
Ranking: 21. That seems right. It is not one that is regarded as one her best tracks nor it is one that a lot of people are familiar with, so the ranking seems suitable.

6. Regina Spektor
My top track: Chemo Limo This used to be one of the tracks I liked the least from Soviet Kitsch. But after giving it a chance and really listening to it, it has now become one of my favorite songs and, quite possibly, my favorite Regina song of all time. It is so heartbreakingly beautiful. I don't know how anyone could not like it.
Ranking: 16. Wow. I thought this song would at least be in the top 10. Most Regina fans I've talked to list this as their favorite song of hers. But I guess it makes sense since most of the top tracks were from begin to hope, her most popular album, so I guess the ranking makes sense.

7. Garbage
My top track: I Think I'm Paranoid This is the song that got me into Garbage and made me fall in love with Version 2.0. Though it is not my all-time favorite Garbage song, it is definately one I hold in high regard.
Ranking: 5. This seems appropriate. I figured it would be in the top 10 because it is one of their biggest hits and one of their best songs.

8. Elliott Smith
My top track: Single File This is my favorite Elliott song and it is from my favorite Elliott album.
Ranking: 54. That is not surprising at all. That seems to be an appropriate ranking since it is not a track a lot of people seem to know about. Even hardcore Elliott fans I know hardly ever talk about this one, so this ranking seems right.

9. Kate Bush
My top track: Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God) This is the song that made me fall in love with Kate. It is my favorite song of hers from my favorite Kate album.
Ranking: 8. The song is actually ranked at number 2, which is appropriate because it is one of her best loved and most well known songs. Running up that Hill (A Deal with God) is how the song appears on the Hounds of Love album, so that is why it is ranked lower than the one that is simply titled Running up that Hill.

10. Liz Phair
My top track: Girls! Girls! Girls! I love this song. Though it is not my favorite Liz track, it is from one of my favorite albums of all time: the magnificant Exile in Guyville.
Ranking: 20. That seems reasonable, considering most of her top 10 tracks are from those awful new albums. Since it is not one of the most well know Exile tracks, the ranking seems right.

11. Cat Power
My top track: Cross Bones Style This is my favorite Cat Power song. It is so hauntingly beautiful. I fell in love with her music because of this song.
Ranking: 20. WHAT?? That does not seem right. I would have put this song in the top 10. Well... since most of the top tracks are from the new album, I guess it makes sense that this would be lower, but I didn't think it would be this low.

12. Mirah
My top track: Gone Sugaring I love this song! One of my favorite Mirah tracks. I can't get enough of it!!!
Ranking: 30. That makes sense. It is not one of her most popular songs, but I love it.

13. Bjork
My top track: Possibly Maybe
This is one of my favorite Bjork songs ever! It is one of my lullabys. It's mellow beauty always helps me get to sleep.
Ranking: 10. It makes sense for this song to be in the top 10. I am content with this ranking.

14. Sonic Youth
My top track: Sweet Shine I love this song. It is one of the most beautiful indie-lo-fi songs ever in my opinion. Even though the album it comes from is one of Sonic Youth's worst, this is probably one of my all-time favorite songs of theirs.
Ranking: haha this song is not even listed in their top 100 tracks. Considering that no one ever talks about this song and it is from Sonic Youth's dreaded Experimental Jet Set, Trash, and No Star, the lack of top ranking makes sense. It makes even more sense when you consider that Sonic Youth has a shitload of albums and 99% of them are better than the album this song comes from.

15. Peaches
My top track: Do Ya Though this may not be one her best song and it is very tame compared to most other peaches songs, I love it to death. I can't stop listening to it. It always makes me want to dance!
Ranking: 15. I thought this song would be higher since it was used in a recent commericial, but I guess the rankning makes sense, since it is Peaches' incredibly dirty songs that draw people to her.

16. Patti Smith
My top track: Because The Night I love this song very much, but it is not my favorite song of hers. I listened to it a lot before because I had yet to hear her other songs. The songs on Horses far surpass this one. It is also her most overplayed track, but regardless, I still like it a lot.
Ranking: 2. I thought it would be number 1 because it is her most well known song, but it is second to Gloria. I think this ranking is appropriate because Gloria is her best song in my opinion.

17. Miles Davis
My top track: Blue In Green This is my favorite Miles Davis song. It is from one of my favorite albums of all time: the masterpiece Kind of Blue. It is also my favorite jazz composition. This song made me fall in love with jazz!
Ranking: 2. That makes sense considering that all of the Kind of Blue tracks are at the top of the list. The song is second to So What. While I love So What, I think Blue and Green should be no. 1!!!

18. Poe
My top track: Another World Though I do not consider this to be an essential Poe track, I love it to death. Though lyrically and musically it is pale in comparision to the tracks on Haunted, it has a beat that is incredibly irresistable. I can't help but play this track over and over.
Ranking: 25. That makes sense. The Haunted tracks are much more popular and better overall than the Hello tracks. This is also a track that is mostly disregarded by fans and non-fans alike, so the ranking seems right.

19. Sarah McLachlan
My top track: Building A Mystery This is one of my favorite Sarah songs of all time. I love everything about it. The lyrics and the melody are flawless. One of the most beautiful songs ever written in my opinion.
Ranking: 4. An appropriate ranking. I figured it would be in the top 10 since it was one of her biggest hits. Most of the Surfacing songs were towards the top, since that is her most successful album.

20. The Softies
My top track: Pedestal
My favorite song from an incredibly underrated band. It is so beautiful and mellow. I listen to it when I am ready to go to sleep.
Ranking: 51. I guess that makes sense. It is from the self titled album and all of the tracks from it rank incredibly low, since it is not as popular as Holiday in Rhode Island and It's Love. It is also the least popular track on the album, so the ranking seems right.

I am not sure how weird I am. Some of my top tracks rank in the top 10, some even at number one and others are way at the bottom of the charts, one was not even on the charts at all. I guess I rank somewhere in between normal and weird when it comes to music :)
