CONGRATS NORWAY & ALEXANDER ♥

Oh yeah, as I've been listening and loving Alexander Rybak's Fairytale since it was introduced in Norway's competition for their Eurovision song I couldn't have been more ecstatic over Norway's smashing victory!
I mean, the song is just perfect. Simple enough and catchy, filled with emotion. I haven't grown tired of it a bit and it's been few months now. Sure, i think the show could've been a little more ... something, but Rybak is without a question the most sympathetic and amiable boy and performer. You could just read his emotions straight from his handsome face, that he was as excited as everyone else over the victory - even if it was for granted.
But now I think there really is some sense in Eurovision - at least the few great pieces out there received a fair amount of points.

Other great songs were:

Flor-de-Lis - Todas as ruas do amor
Woaaaah~
Cleaning Women was so sweet! Fresh, easy and still chills you to the spine at times.

I went together with my friends and one of them had quite much to drink, so she dragged the sober me to the front row and as I had to look after her, I stayed there.
And we danced the night away.

Cleaning Women feels like summer....
Well, the gig itself wasn't that bad I had feared even if do not listen to these kind of finnish songs. But since my mother used to listen his production, most of the songs felt incredibly familiar and got me all nostalgic.
It was great.
Oh yeah, what a disco night! Eleonoora was a lot more swengy than I would've thought and I greatly enjoyed the gig, danicing the night away w/o caring if the rest of the audience was standing still like mummies.
Got to thank her after the gig and asked to come to JNS again.

RISTO pulled a great gig, as expected. People were dancing like there's no tomorrow and some random drunken girl stuck with me half of the gig, but I didn't mind. It was ok, dancing with her as well with the random bloke who fell to the ground 'cos of me. 8P It was a great fun, as expected.
But he has a quite large storage of great songs, it's understandable he can't possibly be able to remember but the most wanted ones.
Fri 29 Aug – Mokoma

Incredible and unique gig, what more can I say. Getting to the gig itself, proved to be a harder task than me and my friend ever could have imagined. The tickets were sold out just before our very noses.
But persistence payed off as we got two tickets to ourselves by pleading to the band to get inside. Sometimes it's good to be ruthless fan, with no limits in mind. I still have no regret.

The gig itself was pure greatness with a set list full of old songs and I enjoyed it greatly, although sometimes it really demanded some self control not to punch these drunken idiots pushing and shoving themselves all out of balance and wit.

But meeting with Marko Annala in person easily made up all that and more. I can honestly say it made my fanboy life worth living. Just a short discussion with him. And his honest smile.

THE SETLIST:
Perspektiivi
Sahalaita
Rajapyykki
Syvyys on vaiti
Koiruoho
Vainottu
Tästä on hyvä jatkaa
Sun 24 Aug – Sigur Rós

Sigur Rós...
Takk for the concert yesterday at Kulttuuritalo, Helsinki.
I can't begin to describe how it felt to see and experience these guys play live after four years of intense admiration.. If I ever expected this kind of reaction from my part, this surely overcame it magnificently.

I'm at a complete loss of words, just remembering the gig and fighting back the occasional tears the memories still bring. And if I'm to describe the gig in any way, I need to cut back with the cheesy superlatives and over words.

The most noticeable thing about the gig was the positive undertone the new album Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust and its songs brought to the atmosphere. I think I truly learned to appreciate their newest compositions during this gig. The positivity never stopped me from getting teary eyed, though.
The concert was it's own kind of mystical experience for me, with moments of total nirvana and loss of self consciousness and moments of joyful trance (especially Gobbledigook) with uncontrollable dance moves. There was probably even something religious in the way I experienced the music. And something very fanatic in the way I, amongst every other person in the audience, demanded them back on stage.
The stage, which they handcrafted to gigantic landscape of sound ...and countless, nameless emotions.

To me, seeing Jónsi perform was the greatest part of watching the show. The volume of intensity he lived the songs and gave himself to convey the music was something so touching and sympathetic. Especially during Ný Batterí, one of my all time favourites, as he really gave in to the massive soundscape with his guitar. He really is definitely one of the greatest artists in my book.
They all are.

The highlighits of the gig (the moments that stay in my memory) for me were
Svefn-g-Englar (as I realized they were really there, playing... It all just hit me little too hard),
Ný batterí (I was hoping for it so much<3),
Hoppípolla (at this point I gave into my emotions ),
Sæglópur (...which resulted in more and more tears),
Gobbledigook (So incredible, the whole place was blooming with life!),
Popplagið (The big whole I didn't think they would play, but they did! *grateful*),
All Alright (Couldn't help it, as the gig was actually reaching a closure... I would've wanted it to go on forever!)

And the moments of singing together, hand clapping and swaying in rhythm... Even if I say all this, I still can't describe at all how this concert affected me, infiltrated the whole of me.

I'm just... grateful.
And little sad, since I can't say when I have the chance to experience something like this again~~

Fri 8 Aug – Jurassic Rock

Better late, than never, eh?
Here comes a short report from the 2nd Jurassicrock at Mikkeli, Finland.
Since I'm suffering from a frequent loss of words, I'll use some pictures instead.

The friday was a bit of fiasco, with too much alcohol and a missed gig. But at least we got to see PMMP and Ismo Alanko Teholla, which was the saving act for the day with a great set of old and new songs, ranging from Sielunveljet to BLANCO SPIRITUALS.

(haha, ismo's ass is very well presented above :3)

Saturday was about to have a same miserable start, but fortunately I made it to Kauko Röyhkä & Mikkelin kaupunginorkesteri, which really made my heart melt. Especially the arrangement of Sateinen päivä. (Although there was so few people, I felt ashamed for the audience--)

After Kauko, I hung around a bit and then went to spend next few hours in front of the main stage waiting for Amorphis and Mokoma, the two mighty ones.
The weather wasn't as bad as the day before, but it still was rainy and the front of the stage had already turned into a mud bath.
(I fearfully waited, if there was going to be a pit during Mokoma in these conditions--)

As always, Amorphis threw a brilliant gig and singer Tomi Joutsen's dreadlocks were dead sexy...

The most personal moment of the rainy festival for me, was of course Mokoma's gig. With the pouring rain and the sound I had longed for I was reduced to mere feeling. Tears, joy, excitement, aggression. There hasn't been any other band yet to guide me through those intense emotions both on album and during live performances.

I let myself become a pathetic fanboy once more and brought the "Marko Nassukka"-paper. Though it seemed that it was going unnoticed by the band this time, I gave it a shot when Marko Annala approached our end of the stage during Marras- It paid off! For a brief moment, Marko just stared straight to the paper... (and me.) And there was the tiniest bit of smirk on his face. That was enough for me, nothing more I could have asked from this festival.

After Mokoma, I couldn't get myself excited over Turisas, so I stuck around only for a few songs and then hit the camping area with my friends to enjoy some booze.

But even if Mokoma's gig had been once again a perfection, it still wasn't the absolute best gig of the festival. That was the totally unknown norwegian band's, Animal Alpha's totally intoxicating raging performance which really set me and my friends on fire. Ugh, can't remember when was the last time I had jumped around 'til complete breakdown and exhaustion... and still been that happy!

All in all, I loved the whole festival to bits, even if we came back extremely tired and muddy and beat down. It was the perfect end for this summer's festival frenzy.
