I should probably start by saying that i need to stock up on a couple of Journey shirts. Yah, can't believe i don't have any. I've been listening to them like crazy. I used to do the listening on my ipod and then plug it in to get my scrobbles and seriously, i'd have probably over 12,000 plays by now but since i got myself a new computer and i know i didn't manage to save every track on my SanDisk, i didn't want to take my changes. We all know how moronic Itunes is and if you have all your stuff on one computer you kind of have no choice but to sync everything again which i don't want to do (plus i'm lazy as fuck) so it's not gonna happen. I've just kind of been scobbling from Windows Media Player. I just have to plug in my external memory and i'm good to go. It kind of sucks that all my actual music play is not all getting into my lastfm. I'm sure Journey would have kicked Boston's ass by now and become my #1 artist played but a few months ago, i just got into this huge Boston kick and with all the awsome live stuff i have, plus the demos, they just kind of shot up like crazy and i just started playing Walk On non stop for a long time. I think i really fell in love with that album despite some criticism on it and lack-o-delp. I've been listening to Trial by Fire and Raised On The Radio alot and it just amazes me how freaking amazing they are and all their other stuff too. I'm hoping Journey will catch up soon enough. I'm listening to Don't Be Down On Me Baby for the 20th time tonight. Just my mood. I'm hoping to go see them here in concert. Dallas, TX September 24th. I just haven't had the head space to think about it lately. Cheers to all my Journey Fans! One of the best bands all around.

Love Always.

Ken =)

Keep in Mind, This is only one woman's opinion. Although he was in fact in Corporate America,unless you paid close attention, you'd probably say: "Where the Hell is Bradley Delp?"
So, let's take a look at the Album Track by Track. I promised Brett i'd give him my honest opinion on the Album Soooo here we go!

1. "I Had A Good Time"- Catchy song. I actually like it. Diffrence is that instead of having one straight and strong voice like on the previous albums, I seem to hear like 4 voices chiming in like a continuous chorus during the entire song. I can hear Delp on instances and i like it because it brings back the familiar feeling of the band. The guitar work is great, as always. That's not changed in my opinion. Overall, a good song.

2. "Stare Out Your Window"- If i heard this song randomly on the radio, i'd have no idea it was Boston. At All. If i ignored the fact that it was Boston, i might say its a fairly mellow song, kind of something "America" might sing...but not something Boston might be known to pull off. I like that its diffrent as a whole but even such ballads like "Hollyann" had an astounding power in spite of being a ballad.

3. "Corporate America"- So far so good. Guitar...awsome. I can hear more of Bradley here. It sounds more like the sound i'm fond of. It feels more rockin'. I'm not much of a fan of the "deep voice" throughout the song. It throws me off just a little but not enough to make me dislike it. I think it's a good song. Take away the random talking and you've got yourself a pretty great song.

4. "With You"- Again, I repeat...if you told me 'this is Boston' i'd probably tell you that you're a bloody liar. Not a bad song but not exactly a song i'd remember or a song that would get stuck in my head because its awsome. I can slightly catch a riff here and there that sounds like Boston.

5. "Someone"- I like this alot. Great Song. Nothing Negative. I'd say this is more like Boston and their usual awsome-ness. I'd play this often just like i do with my favorites from previous albums. I'm surprised that most of these tracks last less than the standard 6-7 minute songs they used to do. "Foreplay/Longtime" lasts a little over 7 minutes even though its supossed to be 2 songs into one but it was well worth it.

6. "Turn it Off"- Not a memorable song. Sounds something Nirvana could pull off. I understand that during this point, the 80's were gone and diffrerent sounds were emerging and hey, you got competition right? I'd probably listen to this a few times over just to see if i could get a feel for it but i'm not making any promises.

7. "Cryin'"- I've heard this song numerous times before and then i remember switching to Aerosmith's Cryin' as well. Ha. I actually think this is a good song. Once you get past the whole Brad thing and that you can barely hear him. In fact, i don't think i heard him at all on this. The sound is a little diffrent. I can't hear the usual guitar sound they often have except for a few slight seconds here and there. Also wouldn't be able to tell if was them if i'd never heard this song before. Not a bad tune.

8. "Livin' For You"- Awsome song. This is a favorite of mine. It's memorable and it gets stuck in your head just like "Amanda" would. The lyrics are good enough that you can see this as something Boston would sing. I think if Brad was lead vocal (as in singing the entire song) it would of sounded 100% better. In spite of all this, it's still a great, great song. I love it. I can hear the guitar wailing! woooo,

9. "Didn't Mean to Fall in Love"- Don't we all...haha. I think this should be the title of all our lives. I like this song alot. There's little things i'd change. I wish it was more of a rockin' up beat song but i like hearing Delp on this one a little more clearly. I have yet to understand why they've just mixed him all in with like three other voices. It's much harder to distinguish him if you've got other people over shadowing you and believe me, his voice is hard to over shadow. If he would have sung a little louder, he would of blown this out of the water.
** I know, you might be thinking: "What's with the Delp rants?" I just think they shouldn't of made him second rate on this album. that would be like making Steve Perry sing chorus along with all his band mates and lowering his voice so that they all blend in like a group of school boys singing in a church choir.

10. "You Gave Up on Love"- Good Song. You can definately tell based on the lyrics that they changed or got someone else involved in the writing process. I love the guitar work on his. I've always thought that they were monsters with the guitar and i like that on this song. It's a pretty standard love song but i'd definately wouldn't discard it. I think its great. I felt like there could of been more to the song. It's like when you listen to some other song, you know that was a good freaking song and its' complete and perfect. I felt like something was missing or that there could have been more "Pow!" to it. Over all, not bad at all. I dig it.

So, As a Whole...what do i think of this Album?

I'd give it 3 out of 5 Stars.

I'd love to hear anyone's personal opinion. You are more than welcome to agree or dissagree. I am open to your Comments/Opinions.

-Kenet

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
***June 24th, 2010 1:01a.m.
After listening to this album alot more, i've acually raised my rating on it. Hey, it's probably not as awsome as their early stuff as far as level of amazingness goes, but the songs are definately good and now that i've listened to this album lots of times on my headphones in the middle of the night, i've taken quite a liking to it and i actually think its worth listening to. So, yeah...i think that "Livin' for For" is not the only song that stands out.
"I had a good time" is great!
"Someone" is also very good!
"Cryin'" has gained my liking and i'm no longer comparing the title with Aerosmith's Cryin'....
Good Album Overall.
Idig it for sure =)
So,
Thanks to the Scrobbler, my plays shot up like crazy. I didn't realize how many plays i had on my MP3 player until an awsome individual pointed out that it was better to use it than to do it the old boring, slow way. Gah, it would have taken me like 3 years to get the amount of plays i have now and God knows I listen to my Pod alot so i wanted to give LastFM justice and show it how much i do play these songs.
The site where i usually get my music from has gone against me and now my files aren't MP3 when i try to put them on my device.
Thanks to a very awsome Lad, i'm getting all of Cetera's solo Tracks, Steve Perry's Solo Tracks and all the songs i'm missing from the "Third Stage, "Boston" and "Don't Look Back" Albums and that excites me a great deal. I don't know about the other albums yet, but these three are the ones that i love the most.
I'm Excited to get all of the songs from "Street Talk" AHHHHHHHH!!!! and his other albums too. That should be something. Don't know how long all this will take but we decided to take the process slow and only bits at a time.
The Rockin' Should be in Full Swing Soon....
Not that it never was...haha.
It's 9:31 officially and i want to just say that i am feeling rather scared about some upcoming things i'll be doing. listening and just being so inspired by some of these amazing artists only gets me going more. I still think about (from time to time) about how i could have possibly missed Chicago! ahh. i wasn't even aware which made me feel so blahhhhhhh....
I'm over it and i plan to become even more inspired through my favorite songs to begin to write again as i used to. Words just seemed to come and i've lost touch with words lately and i want that feeling back.
Out of Love or out of Lack of time, i have stopped and ive sort of entrapped my mind with my worries regarding those two things. Ah, i get such a warm amazing feeling. I've been listening to Boston alot with the coming months. God, they're amazing and it's such a shame that Delp is gone and that he couldn't resolve the issues that were screaming at his heart. I tend to really have a connection as im listening and i become in some ways attatched to the lead singers and once they're gone, the feeling just isn't the same. It goes for Journey too... a band that i love but the magic without perry is lackluster....i'm sorry to say that because they've certainly moved on with someone new that sounds similar (but never the same obviously) as Steve. I'd rather stick with the old songs... it's hard to impress me in that sense. It's like...when guitar starts...you know "that's definately a boston song..." because it sounds so familiar. One song i listened to didn't have Brad's vocals and i immediately rejected it...just like i would with Halen or Journey. I like the familiarity of the voice that warms me and when it's not there, i'm trying to find it. Maybe some people would dissagree with me about it saying its not much of a diffrence to them who sings vocals but it does to me. id rather listen to "Faithfully" 1000 times over if it means i get to head Steve's amazing voice speaking and singing to me. He's such an inspiration and so are everyone that i admire and that i've listened to at 3:00am when i couldn't get to sleep. Thanks for making my nights a little less lonely!
-K.
