I've not been a very active leader the past years, but since then as now I've always wanted this group to be more than a group that just focuses on the word beautiful. People can just suggest anything then, even death metal or depressing emo music, as for some that may be beautiful. I want to simplify it to things we can see and associate with the music. Beautiful nature, seasons and events for example. Lots of this stuff is described in certain genres like soundtracks (where it already have a picture), new age and ambient. Using your imagination to associate was and still is my main goal with this group.

So spring is coming up in the northern hemisphere. When plants and animals comes to life you can amplify the scenery with music. So let us think of spring and any music that you would love to hear when walking in the forests, gardens and meadows during this season.

As spring for me is a beautiful and positive season I have a few favorites that fits perfectly:

Bach - Air

Fits perfectly when anything wakes up.

Flower level one

You are the wind and your goal is to awake the world.

David Arkenstone - Heart of Spring

One of those relaxing tunes with a positive feeling.

Morrowind - Caprice

Having Jeremy Soule's music here in spring, winter, summer or whatever. It actually fits when traveling in all types of landscapes as it did in the game.

Think of spring and see what you can dig up. ;)

Where's the "Light Ambient" tag?

I was looking for some new interesting music to listen to, I decided that I wanted something beautiful ambient. So I searched for ambient here on last.fm.

Ambient...
Ambient Metal...
Deep Ambient...
Dark Ambient...

But wait, where's Light Ambient, the opposite to Dark Ambient? To my surprise I couldn't find any tag like that. Isn't there any ambient music with a light tone? Maybe played on a piano or violin or whatever. Anything that feels beautiful and maybe even happy in a "light" ambient way?

So maybe this requires me to tag some ambient music that feels light. I feel so mellow when I listen to common ambient music like Dark Ambient for example. :|

I want to listen to a beautiful starfield. I want to hear something beautiful when I close my eyes and travel between the galaxies. I don't want it to feel mellow or boring.

So what kind of music is there that would fit in "Light Ambient"?

Sailing Orion
Beautiful ambient space music. This would probaly fit perfect when space traveling. However, this track is waaaay too long and gets kind of repetive.

Second Awakening
Kind of hard to tell if this feels light or not, but I think it does, and it's beautiful.

Elysium
This track from Gladiator OST is just extremely beautiful.

Deora Ar Mo chroì
Well, maybe I'm wrong in calling some of Enya's music ambient, but this feels somewhat ambient to me.

So is this "Light Ambient"? Should it be called something else? What kind of music do you think is "Light Ambient"?

In a few days I will start an adventure in Cyrodiil to save the empire from Oblivion. Jeremy Soule's beautiful music will accompany me when I travel around the beautiful valleys, mountains and forests.

I'll just sit on my horse somewhere and listen to "Sunrise of Flutes" when the morning fog clears over the valley where the Imperial Capital is located. I can already now imagine the beauty.

In the distant landscapes I will travel "Through the Valleys" and discover new lands to explore for my "King and Country".

Jeremy Soule's music for The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion is extremely beautiful. The extreme beauty in the exploration themes is like something I've never heard before. Could there possibly any other similar music out there?
