1. Elliot Minor by Elliot Minor - The lyrics and harmonies are amazing, and it's full of loads of different styles that I love writing like. Plus, they don't care what critics think and do what they want to do, which I think is important in a band.

2. Made of Bricks by Kate Nash - I just love how Kate Nash combines pop melodies with indie-style quirkiness and in-your-face, to-the-point lyrics.

3. The Best Damn Thing by Avril Lavigne - It's full of girly lyrics over the top of thumpy pop/rock, which is just the sort of thing I love listening to when I'm hyper.

4. Scouting For Girls by Scouting for Girls - I love how they combine 'twee' lyrics with keyboard-driven indie/pop to create light-hearted, happy songs that you can sing along really loudly to.

5. Singles Going Steady by Buzzcocks - Yes, it's a whole album of singles, but that's what they were best remembered for. Anyway... I love how these guys combine pop melodies and lyrics with raw punk energy, and it's the sort of thing I'd love to write.

6. Noise from the Basement by Skye Sweetnam - A whole album of pop/rock with bits of punk in it. I think we need more girls doing stuff like this, and it's the sort of thing I'd love to write.

7. Fractured Life by Air Traffic - I love the piano in their songs, because it's always so epic, which is what I love in piano-based songs.

8. Under My Skin by Avril Lavigne - Emotional pop/rock with a few feel-good tracks, I love the mixture of beautiful acoustic and loud angst-ridden songs on this album.

9. We Are The Pipettes by The Pipettes - Girly pop harking back to the '50s and early '60s with an indie twist, this album is amazing and I love writing lyrics like them when I'm happy.

Jessica by Elliot Minor - I don't know why, but it always seems to motivate me whenever I feel horrible or I can't be bothered to do something. It also seems to be very good at giving me ideas for my lyrics and stories.

Tubthumping by Chumbawamba - It has such inspiring lyrics, my favourite bit has to be I get knocked down, but I get back up again.

We Are the Champions by Queen - Self-explaintary when you listen to it.

Since U Been Gone by Kelly Clarkson - While I was trying to get over my old crush (who didn't like me back :(), every time this came on the TV or my libary it reminded me that I don't need a boy to be happy, even though it's about a break-up/getting dumped.

Time After Time by Elliot Minor - Yes, it's another Elliot Minor song, but this song describes my life right now so well, which is kind of depressing, but the the tune is so upbeat and happy, that it makes me happy and inspires to get on with life, even if I don't like it.

Wake Up America by Miley Cyrus - I bought her album Breakout a few days ago, and at the moment I've got a cold, but that song is making me feel better and inspiring me to get on and do things.

And yes, two of those songs are football songs. Football songs are very motivating. Lol.

This was a night that most definitely a brilliant start to the weekend.



First up were The Hot Melts, who were pretty good, but the lead singer's voice annoyed me. I might wait untill I hear some recordings before deciding whether to buy their music.



Then it was Anberlin, who were brilliant!!! They really got the crowd going, and I loved the slight emoness (new words) of the random screaming. There was a bonus as well - the lead singer was hot!



Then... - Lisa turning into fangirl - Elliot Minorcame on (the fangirl bit happened when Alex came on - I love him) and they were amazing!!! The best songs were The Broken Minor, which was really epic, slightly more so than on the album, and Jessica, which was part of the finale, along with some pretty cool fireworks.

Summary: Hot Northern boys, fireworks, headbanging and singing along very loudly. I want to see Elliot Minor again.
