Mon 9 Jul – Marnie Stern, Big Bear, Puttin On The Ritz

That's what it said on the shirt Marnie was wearing on Monday night at TT the Bears in Cambridge. This was a fantastic performance! Marnie shreds with the best of 'em and I was blown away by Hella's Zach Hill on drums. At one point he played with his hands instead of sticks, which Marnie pointed out to the Advantage's Robby Moncrieff (on guitar) after the song. Everyone seemed very comfortable and way into the music, which is nice considering TT's is a small venue. Even though the guys in front of me were dancing way too frantically, I still enjoyed a great show.

The Bon Savants. Has anyone ever heard of them? They are a Boston indie band. They are also freaking awesome. I've been listening to Post Rock Defends The Nation for the last two days.

This is really bad, but I can't really stop listening to Sugar, We're Goin' Down. The "Interpretation of Fall Out Boy" did it for me. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4435593179243241083

Also, the Jon Brion produced version of Not About Love. The version that is on the album is just..crappy compared to the Jon Brion one.

And of course Since U Been Gone & Maps. Listen to it. Ted Leo hits those high notes like a pro and I love it. Not to mention Ted Leo is a musical genius.

My new ringtone is Mr. Blue Sky. This song is just so good. Whenever my phone rings I listen to it for awhile before I pick it up.

I went to see OK Go on Friday so Get Over It gets an honorable mention. They put on a pretty good show, but everyone around me was so drunk that I was very annoyed by the end of the show. But at least I got to see them dance to A Million Ways, which can be seen here.
It's a good time.

Dresden Dolls Halloween Show 2005

I went to see The Dresden Dolls on Monday at the Avalon in Boston, MA. Pictures of it here.

One of the best overall performances/shows i've seen in awhile. It wasn't just a bands playing, it was an entire theatrical performance, with circus performers, a theater group, moving statues and crazy costumes. A very good show overall.
