My No.1 favorite of 2006 is definitely She wants Revenge debut album! She Wants Revenge

She wants Revenge kinda sound like if 80s indie anti-hero Ian Curtis came back from the dead to finally bring back wave for good to the 21th century!! Congratulation to Limp Bizkit for signing this jewel of a band!

My favorite songs on this album are :
Red Flags and Long Nights, Tear you Apart, Out of Control, I don't wanna Fall in Love

But all the other songs on this release are adorable too!
I am more than curious for what they will be up to in the future!

II. BEST SONG OF 2006: SPIRITUAL FRONT - JESUS DIED IN LAS VEGAS
Jesus Died In Las Vegas

Spiritual Front is my "NeoFolk" highlight of 2006! Altough this band around the charismatic italian lead singer Simone Hellvis Salvatori states out to play "suicide pop" - their instrumentation is widely folkish. And when it comes to the lyrics they're very close to their friends and mates in bed ( ;) ? ) - the nihilistic and apocalyptic Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio from Sweden.

I picked that song from their album "Armageddon Gigolo" because i think that its' got the best of their lyrics so far. I must also point out that the whole album is a great piece of art and you should buy it if you haven't done already!

"Jesus died in Las Vegas" is about loosing faith in our so called civilization.
The last spirit of christianity would surely run dry in Las Vegas where filthy lucre replaced the believe in god. People are selling their souls for money in modern western world just to loose everything again.
This song ends with the phrase "nothing is more contagious than sin". Quite true!

III. BEST MOVIE OF 2006:HARD CANDY

This one definitly isn't the kinda average hollywood thriller you've seen 1000 times before!
Hard Candy is a psychological rollercoaster ride- its a masterpiece of a movie sorta i haven't seen in a while.
It's thrill kinda reminded me on SEVEN back in 1995 although its a whole of a different story.

This movie starts with an online chat between the 14 years old Haylie and the 34 years old photograph Jeff. After some chatting and teasing they agree on a date at a local coffee shop. After some conversation and further teasing they end up at Jeffs house where Haylies' preparing drinks for the both of them. Short time later Jeff faints away to find himself tied to a chair. Haylie is declaring her actual intension of revenge on him ...

The very special thing about this movie is that you can't really find a relation to sympathize with any of the both characters during the whole storyline. You'll certainly start with sympathizing with Haylie for fallin for this somehow ill minded photograph, then later on you'll find yourself empathizing for "poor" tortured Jeff. You won't be sure who's the good- who's the bad one until the very end of the film where Jeff is revelealed as the sick guy and murderer that he is...



Actually this movie is from 2005 but it first premiered in 2006 in germany.

we all got familiar with last.fm as a great system to keep track of yours- and the recent music consumption of others. Last.Fm is great in building charts and statistics on that but something that last.fm doesn't do is to acknowledge the songs that really have a special meaning to you. Of course there's a difference in listening to new or "en vogue" songs often- keepin the charts pumping up- than to have those "black pearls" in your collection that you only take out to play when you're in that special mood...

So i'd like to take the chance to ask you for what your all-time-favorite- top-10 tracks are! As your group host i'll start with mine of course-- here they are (in no determined order) ;)
