First gig in bloody ages saw me at the newly reopened Rockhouse in Derby. I was there to see The Pigeon Detectives. And they ,surprisingly ,were really good. Surprisingly i hear you say ...well yes, i think you don't realise how many good tunes they have. It was very enjoyable and they banged the tunes out the crowd were up for it and the place held the sound really well.

They've got some really good bands coming in the next few months with the likes of Bristish Sea Power, The Dykeenies, and The Datsuns with a few tribute bands too include a Smiths and Stone roses act.
Finally Derby has somewhere that may rival the Rescue Rooms at Nottingham.

A very short but stonking set (6 tunes) had the floor bouncing, especially to Go Square Go. I think the hype could be right about this band they will not appeal to all but they will command a very big crowd when they play the festivals later this year ( nothing confirmed but you know there bound too).

What really capped it was the set they played in the middle of the arena, its nice to see bands thinking of the fans, especially the ones who were stuck right at the back it gave them a chance to see the band up close instead of peering in the bright lights.

Hats off to you Dave Grohl and your band that was one quality show.

And by the way the wife got one your guitar pick's as well so shes well happy.

I did toy with the title crash bang wallop, but i just felt the thank you had to be included as the Stereophonicsblasted the Nottingham Arena apart with an excellent performance last night.
It was the fullest i have seen it in ages and everbody i caught sight off seemed to be really enjoying it.

Caught most of The Enemy set which was really good. I can see them getting bigger, i am sure The Jam crowd from old will love them as they have that new age SKA sound to them.

Overall another quality performance from the Stereophonics. Maybe next time i'd like to see them in a smaller venue, although they really do suit Arena's just like the boys from Kasabian.

I survived the Bratz.....ok the show was pretty awful ( the girlies were very plesent on the eye thankfully) but my Daughter loved it , it was a semi Musical with there being a very lame story intwind into all the Bratz songs, which to be fair were aimed at 6-11 year old girls. Only one song stood out as a half decent pop (i use the term very losely) and that was So Good.

I am sure if they were to come back then she would love to go again ......Mum's turn i think.

Kasabian performed compentantly last night at the Hallam FM arena last night ...only joking ...i think the words fucking hell, and wow, wow and bloody wow. They were awesome, banged out tune after tune after tune. They are suiting the arena circuit, it is there scene.

The support came from The Music, who i really wanted to see but due to the f'in roadworks on the M1 was delayed in getting to the Arena but did manage to see half of there set and what i heard did not disappoint. New track they played was excellent and I am really looking forward to hearing more from them later this year.

Witnessed Jeton Sunday night at the Manchester Apollo (cracking venue) and what a bloody good show they put on. Full of energy Jet banged out a selection of new tunes from there Shine On album and the tunes that brought them there fame.

Just a quick mention about the support band ... i freely admit i missed The Check but we did get to see Blue Van, now guys listen , i know it must of been exciting playing in front of such a large crowd and playing on the same bill as Jet but remember this one small thing .....YOU ARE ONLY THE BLOODY SUPPORT ACT, christ the way they carried on you thought they were the top of the bill. If your going to end a tune just end it not give it five bloody endings. Your tunes were too similar and one day you'll fall of the speakers/Keyboard and anything else you care to climb on while your strumming away.
Saying that i have seen worse bands supporting, much worse, so count yourselves lucky, but you were close to it.

Along and arduous journey (2.5hrs)up the A6 to Manchester was rewarded with an excellent performance from a band that has been banging on the door of greatness. I ventured to the music capital of the north to see The KBC perform a leg on there pre album tour at the infamous Night & Day in Oldham Street.

Accompanied by a very good new found friend Mr Fran (whos Manchester music scene knowledge is beyond incredible and needs to be blogged to be believed). We arrived to see the 1st support act who where called You Remind Me Of Rasputin they reminded me of Fall Out Boy. We decided to dodge Orphan Boy but caught the last three tracks as they were running late. I know now why Mr Fran had advised us to miss them ....non discript Ska.

Finally The KBC apperared and blew me away with very strong set only punctured by a faulty drum pedal half way through Best In The Business this brought about a mini jam while the pedal was replaced, they then proceded to carry on from where they left off. Awesome!.

A fine performance by The KBC which has left me wanting more, and the chance has arisen and a date of the 20th march has been penciled into the diary. I can't wait.
