Today I celebrate my third year as an fm-head. Proudly scrobbling since October 29, 2006. I recall coming across this website by accident while trying to find out when and where the immensely underrated indie rock all-stars, Islands, would be playing next. And simply put, I dug the site and joined up. And since that day my musical taste has been molded and my horizons have been broadened, much credit due to this lovely little website. My journey's taken me to virtually every place here in the great state of Utah and across the Western United States. May the music never die and the vessels that carry and spread it (last.fm and its contemporaries) experience ultimate success and capture young audiences like it did me three years ago. To celebrate my anniversary, I'll just light these candles here, put on a little Barry White, and make a date of it. More likely I'll finish this bag of Corn Nuts and logout. Livin' the dream. Here's to the many scrobbling years to come! Cheers!

I have to start out by applauding whoever is now in charge of kilby on a job well done. Seriously. Kilby's never seen better days. Once upon a time, my feeble band played kilby. Played quite poorly, might I add. But that's all in the past. Recently kilby's been booking some of the best shows of any venue in the state. Among them Sea Wolf, MGMT, and Yeasayer. And it only gets better.

Which brings me to my next point. Spring shows. I feel it necessary to give you(Who am I writing this to anyways...? What if nobody reads it and i just wrote to myself. Does that make me a narcissist? Food for thought.) the update on what's happ'nin this spring. I was expecting a very poor spring lineup. Not so. Beach House, Vampire Weekend, and Rogue Wave(rogue wave?)(yes, rogue wave.) are all playing kilby court. How kilby got rogue wave to play is beyond me. Big band, small venue. That one's gonna sell out for sure, so be sure to buy your tickets soon.

Also In The Venue, who usually has the best shows is staying in the game. They have a lot of bands coming over the next few months. Most important of those: Tapes n' Tapes will be playing on May 16th, and Ladytron AND Datarock will be playing on June 2nd. And the rumor, which is yet to be confirmed, is that Islands are coming to Salt Lake City once again. The rumor, which seems very likely true, is that they'll be playing In The Venue on April 22nd. I've seen 'em twice and I recommend this show to everyone with every fiber of my being.
My Thoughts,
Capita Capita

Danced for about an hour to LCD's electric jams. They played all their crowd pleasers including Daft Punk Is Playing At My House, Tribulations, Someone Great (featuring Regine of Arcade Fire on xylophone), and North American Scum (featuring Arcade Fire's Win Butler on backup vocals). Their set was about 10 songs long. I can't remember exactly how many. Then came the main event: Arcade Fire. They opened with Black Mirror off their newest album, Neon Bible, to a crowd of over a thousand people. This was followed by a non-stop, in your face slew of musical genius including Haiti, Intervention, Neighboorhoods 1,2, and 3, and(Anitchrist Televison Blues), among others. They closed with Rebellion(lies) but were then called back for an encore by a crowd still thirsty for a little more AF. They then played Old Flame from the Arcade Fire EP followed by the powerful Wake Up to finish things up. Then they bid us adieu and went on their way. Good show, Arcade Fire. Until next time..
