the new band we're forming will play both (post-rock/shoegaze, that is). we've successfully covered Mono's lost snow, although we had to trim it down to around 9 minutes (from the original 15+ minutes!).

jeff, our drummer (also of Kiko Machine), kicks ass. plakado kagad yung mga transitions of lost snow... making the rehearsal easier. can't wait for the next one.

so i'm soaking myself in those aforementioned bands to help inspire me in coming up with new songs. lately, i've been either too busy (or lazy, whichever comes first) to pick up my guitar and play. mahirap talaga maging ulirang ama. at maging addict sa RPG (damn you, suikoden V! hehehe).

unang-una kong napansin ay ang drums. hindi na masyado katunog sa una nilang album (tunog 70s-80s). naging mas malutong na ang snare, kick, at toms. maging ang mga cymbals ay may kalansing na. baka naman nagpalit na ng drum kit si matt tong. hmmm...

pero nandun pa rin ang signature nyang palo. mabilis, mala-disco, at punung-puno ng mga shuffle. at kumakanta pa cya! ang husay talaga ng taong ito.

napansin ko ring kumakanta na si kele (kunwari close, kaya tinatawag ko cya sa first name nya) ng maayos, hindi katulad sa unang album kung saan e parang sobrang paranoid cya at kinakain ang mga salita kaya ang hirap intindihin minsan.

pero litaw pa rin ang british accent.

pinapakita rin dito ng mabuti ang paggigitara ni russel. babad sa phaser/flanger. kapansin-pansing hindi cya umaalis sa mga gadget nya - palagi kasing inaapakan ang wah-wah sa mga stanza. at sa mga stanza na 'to e iisang chord lang ang tinutugtog nya. sa bandang dulo ay bumaba cya para paglaruan ang settings ng delay pedal nya... paghahanda para sa nakakahilong ending ng kanta. galing ng pagkakatimpla. halos tunog keyboards na ang gitara nya.

naeengganyo tuloy akong bumili ng wah-wah at boss dd-5. syet ka, russell!

ayoko lang ang pagkakamix ng kanta (o baka supot lang ang headset ko). medyo lubog kasi ang gitara ni russell dito. hindi masyado litaw ang mga nota kaya mahirap siprahin. pero kunsabay, madali na lang paglaruan ang scala nya pag alam na ang chords.

Due to the immense popularity of the tv show, it's no doubt that the theme is also a hit among the teeming masses.

Unfortunately, that song is not an OnL original per se, musically speaking. It's "largely inspired" by The Care's Chandeliers. One could say that the music was lifted directly from Chandeliers and tweaked a little bit, with the lyrics re-tailored to fit PBB.
