Nelly Furtado – WTF? Her new songs sound like Britney Spears, and in her new video she reaches Paris Hilton-like slutiness levels. And she turned white since her last album.

Gwen Steffani – Two words: Garter Belt. Check out this journal for more info.

Madonna – You should indeed feel sorry for your latest album!

Shakira – She was a hot brunette and she had to go blonde.

Metallica – After the Black Album, it all went downhill.

Eminem – After freestyling (which is more similar to a simian grunt than to art), he went on to sing lyrics that look like they are written by his wife.

Radiohead – They couldn't live up to the hype after OK Computer.

I said as much in my previous entry, although that one was a bit emotional on my side because it addressed a genre I particularly love: emo music. Sadly, this kind of music is not the only one that is constantly attacked.

Nowadays, we have lots of groups and people who feel good bashing not only music, but people that listen to that music too! That has to stop. One thing is people who write smart and well-thought essays proving something is bad in his genius opinion like bigsexyshaq, and another is people with sad sad lives and nothing better to do like Mez1, Jonno123 and ceelar who have created groups just for those bashing purposes. I have joined these groups in order to infiltrate the enemy, and I'm shocked. These bashers need a force that stops them, a krin to their krang or that Chinese thing. We had such a group thanks to the brave efforts of Tom_Bell12, but thanks to the treacherous and evil Jazz13 that group is in ruins now.

I hate the tags that these groups use. I'm thinking of contacting the admins because I really think that is not correct. I know I'm not the only one who thinks this way; courageous users before me, like lemonsweet, have already made a stand against this mean behavior.

The most popular tag seems to be "officially shit". Ironically, I like the artists tagged under that so much I actually tagged a lot with that! I have to say, the officially shit radio is some of the best listening in last.fm. I'm going to take a look at some of the top artists with that tag to show the community that the bashers are just doing this because they are mean.

Simple Plan – WTF? The Kings of Emo? Did no one get the memo saying that these guys RAWK?

50 Cent – Some of the best lyrics ever. Anyone who says this is shit is obviously wrong.

Crazy Frog – This belongs more to cute than anything else. I wouldn't listen to it but it's very funny and original.

Britney Spears, Hilary Duff, Avril Lavigne, Jessica Simpson, Lindsay Lohan – What is wrong with teen girls listening to this? No male would ever listen to this, so leave the girls alone.

Paris Hilton – I left her alone because she is a special case. Yes, her voice is bad, but at the very least she keeps it real. Most other teen pop stars are full of implants and botox; Paris is all natural. That counts.

Kevin Federline – No comment, he is shit.

James Blunt – Emotionally charged lyrics and a voice not unlike that of Frank Sinatra. Underrated.

Fall Out Boy, Panic! At the Disco, My Chemical Romance, Hawthorne Heights, Green Day, blink- 182 – Plain bullshit. These are all emo bands that kick ass.

Kiss – Earth to bashers? This is one of the most influential bands ever. EVER.

So bashers, go back to preschool and stop doing this. You won't win, last.fm will always tend to be a happy place. You are the minority. Surrender now.

Who in their right mind can say something about them? If you didn't know they played emo, you'd surely think they played in some heavy metal band. Why? Cos they have attittude, something that is lacking in most of todays music. Attittude comes from emotion, you soulless bashers.

The Kings of Emo, they defined the modern sound of the genre. Im not gonna talk more about them cos you already know that I consider them the new generation Black Sabbath.


Im so tired of you stereotyping us. For one, yes, we cut ourselves from time to time. But no, we rarely cut our wrists, cos that would mean that we would die and we couldnt live on.

In fact, some of the messages mentioned the topic of this entry, and that's why I decided to write about it.

If there is one thing that we learned from the 80's, it's that a bunch of artists grouping for a good cause to sing a crap song is NOT a good idea. "We are the world", despite having such celebrities as Michael Jackson and Billy Joel, was such a piece of trash that, quoting OGTalon:

Yes, it's that bad.

What does that have to do with anything right now? Well, some readers pointed out that such an abomination is in the works again!

The article basically explains that some of today's hottest performers will get together to record a song "for the children of Kalimanistan". I'm not going to bother with the whole article, I'm just going to paste some extracts here. Since I don’t want to abuse the quote tag, article parts will be in bold.

"I'm extremely satisfied with how this is developing. It's about time we give back a bit of the blessings we have been given as artists" commented Tommy Lee, the mastermind behind the project.

Believe me, it can get worse.

The complete list of performers will be released next month. So far, only Madonna and Kevin Federline have declined the invitation.

Having Federline in the song would at least have given it some comedical value. This thing is not meant to be. So, seeing that I'm not writing these just for me, I decided I'd take a look at some of the defining pillars of today’s music.

Simple Plan – I'm not going to waste words on this, as you all know my views on this from my post “Simple Plan – Is it the new Black Sabbath?”

Linkin Park – If someone can take the torch passed by Jethro Tull, it's these guys. Deeply poetical yet controversial lyrics, political outrage, and masterful instrument playing.

Red Hot Chili Peppers – The Chilli Peppers are the 90's and 2000's Yes. YES was a band that never feared experimentation, and the Peppers took that same style and continued with the progressive stuff.

Jennifer Lopez – I can't compare anyone to her because she is setting a new standard, but I guess Janis Joplin did so too.

Radiohead – Radiohead is praised by many, but I really can't get into it. I think it's a bit overrated because people who do drugs understand it, just like The Doors.

50 Cent – The misunderstood rebel, like Bob Dylan. Both have questionable vocal skills yet there is something about their lyrics that makes you shiver.

I think history has a way of repeating itself. Most of the great artists of today fall into predictable roles, which isn't a bad thing. J. Lo. took the world by surprise. In a few years, not only she managed to reinvent the sound of pop in a way not seen since Madonna, she also showed us that she was the best actress of this generation. Critics agree that all her movies are masterpieces except Gigli, and that one’s failure is the fault of Ben Affleck, who has not given us a decent acting in all his pathetic life.

Meanwhile, what has Shakira done? She sings awfully. She only recorded an english record because she was intimate friends with Emilio Estefan and she was the girlfriend of P. Diddy after he broke up with Jennifer.

J. Lo. sings a duet and she does so with none other than Marc Anthony, the single most important Latin singer of the 90’s. So, to imitate her, Shakira goes and sings some crappy song with Alejandro Sanz, a guy no one even knows.

People go all crazy about Shakira’s hips, but, do they stand a chance against Jen’s ass? If you answer yes, please do yourself a favor and quit music as a serious hobby and start listening to crap like Coldplay.

People, stop listening to Shakira. Call your radio stations and ask for more songs of the one true Latin diva. It doesn’t matter if J. Lo. is Haitian, she still sings like the best. And yes, I know that I seem like a bit of a poser listening to her when I like Simple Plan and Black Sabbath, but you know what? The tape could be improved, tho. If I could, I’d direct a new one, and I’d sell it and I could divide the earnings with Britney and Kevin. Imagine, at 30 bucks a tape, I’d sell… let’s say… 10,000 tapes. That’d be 300 grand, with 150 going to the happy family. Now I now Britney has about 2 million dollars so 150 grand more wouldn’t be too much, but it isn’t chump change either.
