1. Open your media player associated with the Last.fm client and add all the songs on your harddisk by your favourite artist into the playlist.

2. Leave your computer on for the whole week with either: the playlist playing on infinite loop or, do like i did - select a couple of the shortest songs by the artist (Nine Inch Nails here) you want to amp up and let them play on loop for the week.

3. Use a different media player to play music by other artists, cause seriously - no-one can listen up to 3000 songs by an artist in a week.

4. Profit!

I personally use Last.fm to observe my listening habits. It's been over 2 years since I created the account so its about time to reset the charts, hence the NIN marathon.

Cheeri-o

-tatu

ps. When did listening to music become a sport?

I arrived to the venue pretty early, but the place was crowded with hardcore kids, and oldschool hardcore fans already at 4 pm. The DJ was playing some nice music to cheer up the mood as we waited downstairs for the live acts to begin.

Around 6 pm the first act was up, after listening to the intro, My Way covered by Sid Vicious.

The Distance: Straightforward hardcore straight to your face. Unknown band to me, and with some of my favourite acts ever playing later that night I decided to hang out in the side of the dancefloor and just check the band out. They really couldn't get the crowd amped up, just some new school kids doing their ninja antics in the pit, and a weirdo football hooligan simply beating random people up. I personally didn't like them too much. The singer even tried to get a circle pit up, but failing cause everyone were just hanging around, drinking beer and smoking pot.

Next up was Destiny, they played only 4 songs cause their bass player was sick at home and someone who I cant remember right now covered for him.

They got the crowd a little more amped up and we actually saw the first (of many) stagediver of the night. I had heard just one song by them so I stood round the pit and enjoyed the show.

Next up was Comeback Kid and suddenly the mood in the room changed. They started the show by False Idols Fall if I remember correctly and the place blew up. The pit was huge, windmills, karate and shit. Lots of stagediving and modern antics. They were great and all the kids went crazy. I went thru the pit a couple of times, but decided to save my strenght to the next act, Walls Of Jericho.

Starting with All Hail the Dead, I and the rest of the room went fucking nuts. The pit was more metal oriented, headbanging breakdowns, circle pits and some sick crowdsurfing and stagediving. Right like I thought it would be. Most of their show was from their newest album, but they played 3 or 4 songs from the first one too. They played for about 30 minutes, just the right time as I spent most of the show in the pit or in the front of the audience trying to get into singalongs. You can actually spot me in some of the pictures by al-overdrive. After their show, a nice 15 minutes to catch your breath, next up was Terror.

This was the shit. The energy in the room was INSANE. Aggressive, brutal hardcore straight to your fucking face. Probably the wildest act that night. Circle pits, karate, stagediving and crowdsurfing. The whole dancefloor transformed into a really aggressive hardcore moshpit. First act to perform an encore and like I suspected, it was Overcome. Terror played for about 30 minutes or so and they were insane. Another 20 minutes to catch my breath and drink some water, as I spent most of the show close to the pit, in the front of the stage.

There were loads of people from Portugal and Spain in the venue, getting really amped, since the next act was the hardcore legend: Madball from NYC.

More oldschool stuff, the pit was a little more calm than during the last two shows. Personally I wanted to see the show, not just fight for my life in the pit so i stayed pretty front, around 3 to 5 meters right from the center of the stage. They were awesome, really energetic for a band that "old", the pit was more oldschool, pushing each other around and climbing for those singalongs, but we had some circles and big latino guys "helping" people to crowdsurf & dive. Legendary songs, and some stuff from Legacy. The encore was Hardcore Pride, naturally. And they played it twice actually as they weren't satisfied for the first time. They also sang some marijuana anthems, and we had some joints puff-puff-and-passing on the crowd. Great show and they're actually going to release a new album next year!

After Madball, it was time for the last act of the night. Sick Of It All.

Need I say more, it was the shit. Playing their legendary hardcore anthems and loads of songs from Death To Tyrants, we "celebrated that we don't give a fuck". Just like in Madball I think the people actually wanted to see them play, not just give everything out of themselves in the pit. In the end of the show it was time for (surprise surprise): Wall of Death. Someone actually filmed it from the balcony, the link to YouTube is here: .
Best show ever, since I've been a fan for years.

Overall the concert was awesome. The positive energy in the room was insane, if someone got a fist on their face or fell down he was pulled right back up and back into the action. Coming all the way from Finland, paying the total sum of ~400 euros to be able to see the tour in the UK it was worth every penny.

I'll update the journal & write some more as soon as i get the setlists and more pictures from the venue.

Take care.
