Old Time Relijun reminds me of early Nick Cave impersonating Tom Verlaine whilst wearing very tight trousers and cockroaches tickling his balls (or is it Tiny Tim??). Am I supposed to be frightened by songs like "Wolves and Wolverines"? The saxophonist (Aaron’s brother Benjamin?) sounds useful and maybe the guitarist too if they were given space to play but the drummer keeps tapping dull rhythms on his cardboard box kit n the vocalist won't STFU!.

"Magnetic Electric" starts off with an interesting didgeridoo sound and the drummer discovers he has a bass pedal under his box and then...my mind wanders........ "Your Mama Used to Dance" would sound great in 1956 sang by Little Richard - I'm not convinced by vocalist Arrington De Dionyso (god of lust, wine n debauchery????) : either as a rock n roll singer or a jittery shamanistic heathen swamp dwelling stud. It all sounds a little too self-conscious and contrived and does not embrace The Nagual. Maybe it's supposed to be hilarious .... who knows??? but holler all ya like Arrington: you do not move me....or make me laugh...........

There's something wrong about the production on this album .. it's very ... flat...n....wooden... Someones gonna tell me it was recorded instantaneously on cheap cassettes for an "authentic feel..in one take mannn". yawn.. "Burial Mound" ... I really would like to hear old Nick Cave singing this or even Tom Verlaine .... lacks conviction ... lacks conviction ... lacks conviction ... have I picked their worst album?? ... voodoo music for sub-urbanites who probably think this is hot stuff? "Her Fire Chills Me... it's not fair" ( what kinda He-Man is this?) (psst it IS really Tiny Tim :-C ...... RAOTFLOL) and then............. ... wish that awful drummer would pop an acid tab..... uh it's finished.

Jews Harp sounds .... someone is flossing their teeth.... The King Of Lost Light... duh... The Blood And The Milk ... drone intro ... more Jews harp sounds but emanating from a sax n a continuous organ drone (roll over Charlemagne Palestine)... actually the best track so far, methinks... (it's an instrumental ... thank Christ!). I'd like to hear what other folk think of this album or O.T.R. (Over The Railings?) Did I pick a bad 'un?????
