I saw Opeth back in 2006 with a bunch of people, and while I enjoyed it, I fucking loved it this time.

Opeth, for me, are one of those bands that are absolutely flawless live. They don't bore me in the slightest and Mikael is one funny motherfucker.

They started out the night with Heir Apparent, the hardest track on Watershed in my opinion. Now, I never used to like Watershed, but I gave it a few listens and it eventually grew on me. Anyway, they came out and from that precise moment I knew that this show would be amazing.

After Heir Apparent, Mikael said his hello and the band blasted into <b>Master's Apprentices, off the Deliverance album. Deliverance is one of my favourite albums, and Master's is probably my second favourite off said album. Kick ass song live, too.

Following Master's, Baying Of The Hounds kicked off. That was one of the first songs that they played last time around, and it's always a refreshing track to hear.

One of my favourite-favourite-faaaaaavourite Opeth songs was next - Serenity Painted Death. This is a massive fan favourite too, off my favourite Opeth album, Still Life. I am unconvinced of a better Opeth album. Still Life is awesome, as was this song. So much yes.

At this point, I'm standing here thoroughly pleased with the way this night is turning out. Then Mikael does some more jokes and spiels and what not and introduces what is the slow song of the night - To Rid The Disease, off Damnation. This song is so pretty, and it's just as gorgeous live. Mmm.

And back to Watershed we go! The Lotus Eater was the second song I heard off Watershed, and I have to say the first time I heard it I was displeased. Nintendoz, in my metalz? However, one of my speakers wasn't working and I heard a really, really ridiculous sounding breakdown in the middle of it. When I actually heard it fully, I was much more pleased. This song is fucking kick ass live. Really, it is.

Jeez, what can I say about this next song? It was -amazing-, and filled with a couple of technical difficulties for Mikael, which led to Axe (the drummer) doing a lovely drum solo, and Fredrik (the guitarist) doing a lovely guitar solo of his own while technicians came out and fixed Mikael's stupid guitar. XD Bleak is my favourite song off Blackwater Park (I swear I'm not biased because of Steven Wilson...) and hearing it live was indescribable, even with the break in the middle (And now for Part 2...)!

The next song they played, The Night And The Silent Water is off Morningrise - one of the most overlooked Opeth albums in my opinion, but the one with the cover everyone uses as an icon or desktop or something. It was so much better live than it is on the album, and I'll probably listen to it with more liking now. It was filled with such raw emotion, which is lovely.

After TNATSW, "more heavy songs" were to follow. Jeez, I couldn't have asked for a better setlist, really. It's like they chose every one of my favourite songs off every album (excepting Orchid...), shoved it on a setlist and played it for me. Deliverance absolutely slayed. They played that last time they were here too, as their encore, and this time I think it was a thousand and one times better. It was absolutely fucking amazing, there really was no other word for it. I could sit and listen to the last three minutes of that song forever. So delicious.

This was my highlight of the night. I have been an Opeth fan for a quite some time now and I've yearned to hear Demon Of The Fall live for so freaking long. They didn't play it the last time they were out here, and I was sad. So the fact they played it this time, along with the 346806804 other songs that kicked my ass, made me ridiculously happy.

After this, the guys went off stage which left the crowd roaring for an encore. And after about five or so minutes, they came back on stage to an even louder roar, and Mikael informed us all that they needed a piss, haha! One of the other highlights of the evening was The Drapery Falls, which is also off Blackwater Park. God, this song is ridiculously amazing live. I love this song to pieces and they made it so, so much better which I didn't even think was possible.

All in all - that was a fantastic evening, and if I had my way Opeth would be playing for much, much longer than that. It's good to hear that they are planning on trying to come back here next year, so very, very exciting!
