I have never been a fan of country music. In fact, I'm absolutely disgusted by all of the country music they play on the radio these days and do my best to avoid it. Johnny Cash is the one (One) exception.

Maybe it's attributable to his deep, unique voice or possibly some of his instrumentals that are more aligned with folk and rock 'n' roll music. Just listen to A Satisfied Mind and try to compare it with something like The Cowboy in Me (Sorry, that seems like generic, modern country to me).
