No more glasses. No more contacts. It’s so exciting! I figured this was a good opportunity to indulge my fondness for making theme playlists...is this weird or do other people do it, as well? Many people consider the color of their day of birth their lucky color. For example, I was born on a Thursday, so my “lucky color” is orange. You can find out what day of the week you were born here.

The King of Thailand was born on a Monday and for the last couple of years many, many Thais have worn a bright yellow shirt every Monday to celebrate his 60th anniversary on the throne and his 80th birthday.

I’m not a writer, by any means, but I (sort of) jokingly commented that I should create a playlist for the laboratory with the first song being Thomas Dolby’s She Blinded Me With Science. Well, Sally came back with some great suggestions for the list...a couple actually about real science! I knew I wouldn’t be able to find many more (or any) “science songs”, but I kept an eye open for songs with a science related title. It’s been a fun exercise and I’ve discovered a couple of new artists that I like. Here’s the list so far:

Right now, it's the end of the rainy season and that inspired me to look up all the songs in my iTunes library that have Rain in the title. Wouldn't it be great if iTunes could search lyrics, also?

I had 44 "Rain" songs. Oddly enough, in some sort of cosmic symmetry, I also had 44 songs with Sun in the title. Wonder what's the statistical probability of that happening?

Here are a few of my favorite "Rain" songs (from my iTunes library).
Of course, being from Louisiana, I have to include When the Levee Breaks. It doesn't have Rain in the title, but it's definitely about the rain. Most of the other songs use rain as a simile or metaphor, but I'm not picky.
